Chapter 405: 【405】You’re not a qualified detective!_1

Shi Jingpeng’s personal information was all laid out before Tang Feng.

But after looking through it, he still hadn’t found any information about the pocket watch.

Tang Feng had no choice but to use the Physiognomy System again to observe Shi Jingpeng’s fate.

However, he could only see that he was caught in a life-and-death situation, still clueless about the whereabouts of the pocket watch.

Indeed, the system and Physiognomy Skill were not omnipotent.

At least some things still remained undetectable.

...

He slowly opened his eyes, his expression tinged with helplessness.

“Mr. Tang, have you calculated anything?” Shi Jingpeng asked eagerly, full of expectation.

“I haven’t calculated anything,” Tang Feng answered truthfully.

Shi Jingpeng immediately felt some disappointment, but still managed a forced smile, “It’s okay. I was already prepared for this. Finding it would be my luck; not finding it, my fate.”

The atmosphere in the private room suddenly turned cold.

Only then did everyone snap out of their excessive praise and adoration for Tang Feng.

It seemed that even Master Tang was not infallible.

Tang Feng pondered briefly before asking again, “Who has visited your home recently?”

Shi Jingpeng recalled for a moment, “Recently… I had an old friend come over, my wife’s best friend visited too, and also my brother’s family…”

Tang Feng nodded, “Gather everyone who has visited your home during this period; we will head to your house later.”

Shi Jingpeng was delighted, “Does that mean there’s still a chance to find the pocket watch?”

“Let’s try. I can’t be one hundred percent certain,” Tang Feng replied without making any absolute promises to avoid disappointment later on.

Shi Jingpeng lost his appetite in his haste and grabbed the phone to start calling people.

Tang Feng, on the other hand, continued his meal unruffled.

When the banquet ended, although everyone wanted to follow and see what would happen next, they were ultimately declined by Shi Jingpeng. @@novelbin@@

Only Tang Feng and Zhou Bingrui were allowed to accompany him to the Shi Family home.

The house Shi Jingpeng lived in was assigned to him by the TV station back in the day.

It was a stand-alone western-style house, a bit old but well-maintained.

When the three men entered the house, Shi Jingpeng’s wife had been waiting for a long time.

The lady, although in her sixties, was still very elegant.

As Shi Jingpeng introduced, his wife was a university professor, retired for many years now.

Tang Feng and Zhou Bingrui, both academic underachievers, immediately felt respect for her.

The four of them sat in the living room, chatting idly.

In truth, there wasn’t much in common to talk about, as it was mostly Shi Jingpeng’s wife recounting tales from their youth on her own.

Zhou Bingrui had no interest in these stories, yawning continuously.

But Tang Feng listened with great interest.

It wasn’t long before the first guest Shi Jingpeng had contacted arrived.

He was a man in his sixties, named Hao Yi, and had been friends with Shi Jingpeng for many years.

“Old Shi, what exactly happened?” Hao Yi asked with a puzzled look at Shi Jingpeng.

“Well…” Shi Jingpeng suddenly found himself in an awkward position, not knowing how to explain.

Tang Feng, however, wasn’t so hesitant, “It was I who asked Mr. Shi to invite you over.”

Hao Yi glanced back at him, “And who are you? Do you have business with me?”

With an easy smile, Tang Feng said, “Mr. Shi has lost something very important, so I asked him to invite you to help with the investigation.”

Upon hearing this, Hao Yi’s face darkened, “Old Shi, are you suspecting me of stealing your stuff?”

Shi Jingpeng waved his hands hastily, “Old Hao, we have so many years of friendship. Don’t I know what kind of person you are? It’s just that… It’s just that…”

“Mr. Hao, please don’t misunderstand. I asked Mr. Shi to invite everyone who’s been to his house recently, not just you,” Tang Feng intervened, taking all the responsibility onto himself.

“Haha, all right then. How do you want to question me? I’ll fully cooperate,” Hao Yi said with a laugh born of anger, since no one would be happy being suspected of theft.

“No need, your suspicion has been cleared,” Tang Feng replied with a smile.

He had already scanned the man with the system and confirmed that he had no relation to the watch.

“You haven’t even asked me anything and I’m cleared of suspicion? Are you kidding? You make a lousy detective!” Hao Yi was unrelenting and continued to argue with Tang Feng.

Shi Jingpeng hurriedly stepped in to mediate, “Old Hao, Mr. Tang is not a detective.”

“Not a detective? Then what is he?” Hao Yi grew even more puzzled.

“He… is a Master of Physiognomy.”

“Physiognomy… a master?” Hao Yi was taken aback.

It took Shi Jingpeng considerable effort to clarify the matter to him.

After understanding, Hao Yi suddenly grew interested, “Then I really must see for myself how a Master of Physiognomy solves a case,” he said and took a seat on the living room sofa, ready to watch the show.

They didn’t have to wait too long before the second guest arrived.

This was a lady in her sixties, named Ma Guimei, a former colleague and close friend of Shi Jingpeng’s wife.

She was much more reasonable than Hao Yi, not only refraining from anger but also very cooperative after hearing Shi Jingpeng’s explanation.

Without asking any questions, Tang Feng pretended to calculate for a moment, then smiled, “Your suspicion has been cleared as well.”

Just like Hao Yi before, Ma Guimei was startled, “Is that it?”

Before Tang Feng could reply, Hao Yi, who was sitting on the couch watching the excitement, immediately burst out laughing, “In all my years, I’ve never seen a case solved like this. Truly odd and peculiar!”

Tang Feng did not intend to stoop to his level of argument.

But Zhou Bingrui couldn’t stand it and retorted sarcastically, “There are many things you haven’t seen, sir. Today, just stick around to broaden your experience.”

“Young lad, who are you speaking to like that?” Hao Yi, seeing how young Zhou Bingrui was, immediately played the senior card.

“You old fossil, who are you to act all superior? Keep it up, and see if I don’t give you a thrashing,” Zhou Bingrui retorted without any deference.

Just as the two were about to come to blows over the exchange of words, Shi Jingpeng had to intervene and play peacemaker.

After much difficulty, Hao Yi calmed down but remained indignant, “Heh, I bet they are just a pair of young swindlers. If he actually solves the case today, I’ll eat my words.”

Zhou Bingrui certainly was not about to let that go, “Remember what you said; come time, let’s see who’s the loser.”
