Chapter 435: 【435】Change the playstyle_1
Zhong Pan’er’s abilities were beyond doubt.
As Master Yao Guhuai’s favorite pupil, she had shone brilliantly in the Appraiser’s competition.
In terms of appraisal skills, she probably wasn’t inferior to any of the participants present.
As for her position, there seemed no reason for skepticism either.
Although she had just assisted Tang Feng, at most that could be charged to her sense of justice, not as bias.
Furthermore, Tang Feng had overshadowed her in the Appraiser’s competition; she would have done well not to hold a grudge, much less help him biasly.
Therefore, everyone was quite satisfied with her hosting the competition.
“Then let Miss Zhong preside over the competition,” said Zhao Quande, vacating his spot and stepping back into the ranks.
Zhong Pan’er had actually wanted to just enjoy the show from the sidelines, but now pushed into a corner, she reluctantly stepped forward, “All right then, I will host the competition fairly and impartially, without favoring anyone.”
Zhao Quande’s cheeks flamed with heat again at her words. Why did it feel like she was mocking him?
Zhong Pan’er then announced the start of the third competition.
Zhao Quande designated another appraiser to challenge Tang Feng.
This person, named Tang Xingzhi, was a renowned master of ancient calligraphy and paintings in the Zhonghai Antique Circle.
He was very modest, approaching Tang Feng with a slight bow, “Mr. Tang’s performance just now was indeed an eye-opener. We share the same surname, so speaking of which, we might have been kin five hundred years ago. I look forward to learning from you.”
Tang Feng had a favorable impression of him and nodded with a smile, “I also ask for Mr. Tang’s guidance.”
Tang Xingzhi then randomly selected three pieces of calligraphy and painting from the crowd.
The audience was extremely curious.
The first two competitions had focused on porcelain and jade, respectively.
In both challenges, Tang Feng had easily emerged victorious.
Such strength was enough to command respect from the crowd.
Typically, an antique appraiser being proficient in one category was already admirable.
To master two was to be considered a prodigy.
Most people didn’t expect Tang Feng to win this round of painting and calligraphy as well.
As long as he didn’t lose too miserably in this round, it would already be quite remarkable.
However, to everyone’s surprise, Tang Feng still dominated the competition with overwhelming force.
Like in the previous rounds, he took less than five seconds to write down the answers in his notebook.
Tang Xingzhi, on the other hand, observed for more than thirty minutes before submitting his answer.
When the answers were revealed, both had given entirely correct responses.
But with Tang Feng’s process being vastly quicker, he easily claimed victory in this round.
Zhao Quande and his cohorts’ morale was once again severely dampened.
Three defeats in three matches made them all feel ashamed.
For the fourth round, Zhao Quande simply sent out one of his most capable heavy hitters.
This person, named Wang Quan, had a profound understanding of miscellaneous categories, and could be considered the top figure in the miscellaneous category for the Zhonghai Antique Circle.
Zhao Quande and the others had high hopes for Wang Quan.
Nonetheless, this round ended without a doubt in another crushing defeat.
Tang Feng seemed like an invincible war god, once again issuing all the correct answers in less than five seconds.
And while Wang Quan’s speed was also commendable, taking less than ten minutes, he could only exit the stage in bitter defeat.
Thus, Tang Feng consecutively defeated top experts in the four major categories of porcelain, jade, calligraphy and painting, and miscellaneous items.
He affirmed his name as a genius across all categories!
The live audience was thoroughly entertained.
Some had even started calling out the name “Feng God”.
Today’s competition was in no way comparable to the appraisal certification competition.
While the appraisal certification competition was influential, it was mostly attended by newcomers to the antique world.
But those who came to challenge Tang Feng today were all well-established experts in the Zhonghai Antique Circle.
These individuals had entered the trade far longer than Tang Feng had been alive.
Yet, one by one, they were unhorsed by Tang Feng, leaving the field in disarray.
By this time, it was around ten o’clock in the morning. The sun was already high in the sky, and the temperature rose sharply.
But the competition had yet to reach its quarter mark.
If they continued at this rate, it might take until nightfall to cycle through all eighteen appraisers.
Tang Feng’s energy was still quite abundant, but his concern was money.
So many customers had come not just for the spectacle, but to bring money to them.
Letting these old timers delay any longer would leave the day’s profits cold and withered.
With these thoughts in mind, he suddenly had an idea.
At that moment, Zhong Pan’er was about to announce the start of the fifth competition.
“Wait a moment,” Tang Feng suddenly interrupted.
Everyone curiously turned their attention to him, wondering what trick he was about to pull.
Tang Feng looked back at Zhao Quande and his group, “It’s too hot to keep competing like this, everyone will suffer.”
Zhao Quande curled his lips with a mocking smile, “Don’t worry, despite our age, we are ready to see it through to the end.”
“Of course, if you are afraid, you can admit defeat voluntarily. Just honor your previous promise,” Zhao Quande added.
Tang Feng let out a cold laugh, “You’re mistaken, I don’t want to end the competition, I want to change the game.”
“What change do you propose?” asked Zhao Quande, wary of falling for the young man’s ploy again.
“Here’s the thing, you’ve got so many people that taking turns like this is just a waste of time,” Tang Feng said, his gaze slowly sweeping across the remaining fourteen, “How about we speed things up? You all team up in groups of four, and come at me together, it’ll be faster that way.”
“What do you mean? I don’t understand,” someone said, confused.
“I didn’t catch that either. What’s ‘teams of four’?” another inquired.
“Is he suggesting he fights four people at the same time?” someone else speculated.
“What? That’s way too arrogant, isn’t it?” there was shock in the voices around.
A murmur went through the group of appraisers, and as they discussed, they became increasingly indignant.
They had already seen Tang Feng’s audacity but had not expected him to be brazen enough to take it this far.
To think of simultaneously taking on four people—was he serious? When they grasped his meaning, they all glared at Tang Feng in anger.
Tang Feng was somewhat speechless.
He had already been holding back, had he not?
If it wasn’t for sparing their pride, he was tempted to have all fourteen of them challenge him at once.
What do you think?
