Chapter 514: [514] Want to intimidate us right off the bat? _1
“By the way, what brought you to the bank?”
Tang Feng and Xu Xinling had joked around for a while before he turned serious.
Xu Xinling didn’t hide anything, “I have a friend who’s recently started a movie project, but just as filming began, the investors pulled out. We urgently contacted several potential investors, but none of them seemed optimistic.”
“You’re not thinking of investing in this project, are you?” Tang Feng immediately understood her implication.
Xu Xinling nodded, “The person involved is a very good friend of mine, and if she really can’t pull in any investments, I want to help her out.”
Tang Feng couldn’t help but give her a thumbs up, “That’s very loyal.”
Xu Xinling sighed, “Unfortunately, there’s just over ten million in my bank account, which can only solve part of the problem.”
At this point, her eyes suddenly lit up, “How could I forget about you? You’re a big tycoon now, and a few tens of millions to you is just a drop in the bucket.”
Tang Feng immediately shrank back, “Come on, isn’t it enough for you to pretend to be loyal? Now you want to drag me into being your scapegoat?”
“I’m not saying you have to invest, just asking you to take a look with me. If you like the project, it’s not too late to invest,” Xu Xinling didn’t give him a chance to refuse and pushed him directly into the passenger seat.
Then she sped off in her Lamborghini.
On the way, she explained that her friend had contacted another potential investor today, someone from Zhonghai’s largest entertainment company—Huanhai Entertainment.
Tang Feng really wasn’t interested in investing in movies.
He had heard that the risk in movie investment was very high.
If one or two out of ten could break even, that was not bad.
He could easily make a fortune with antiques and stocks—why take the risk?
But for the sake of Xu Xinling, he would go along to take a look, and besides, he could take advantage of a meal.
Han Xiaoxiao was right about one thing:
Although he was becoming richer, for some reason, he was also becoming stingier.
He even needed to mooch off a meal.
The car soon arrived at a high-end Chinese restaurant.
Xu Xinling parked the car and then led Tang Feng into the restaurant.
They didn’t stay on the first floor but went directly to the second floor and entered a very quiet private room.
At the round table in the private room sat a woman.
This woman was probably in her thirties, dressed in black business attire, looking very much the professional elite.
While she wasn’t as beautiful as Xu Xinling, her mature and steady temperament was still attractive.
Xu Xinling walked into the private room with Tang Feng, “Mrs. Min, has the investor not arrived yet?”
“They just called a moment ago and said that something came up, asking us to wait a while,” the woman explained.
Xu Xinling curled her lips, “I think they’re trying to give us a hard time.”
The woman smiled indifferently, “I’m used to it. After all, we’re asking them to put up the cash—not so easy, right?”
Then, she looked at Tang Feng, who was following behind Xu Xinling, “And who is this?”
Xu Xinling quickly introduced them, “Mrs. Min, this is my friend Tang Feng; we ran into each other at the bank. Tang Feng, this is my good friend Yan Min, owner of Foxtail Entertainment Company.”
“Mr. Yan, nice to meet you.”
Tang Feng reached out his hand, puzzled inside. Yan Min was quite a bit older than Xu Xinling and had an elite professional aura.
How could these two who seemed so different be close friends?
Yan Min also shook his hand, “Mr. Tang, please don’t mind Xinling’s teasing; I just run a small company with only a few people—I’m hardly a big boss.”
Xu Xinling sat next to Yan Min and, putting an arm around her neck, said to Tang Feng, “Don’t be fooled by the size of Mrs. Min’s company; every product is premium. It’s sure to grow bigger. Break out of Asia and go global.”
Yan Min tapped her on the forehead, not hiding her affectionate look.
The way the two of them interacted, they didn’t seem like best friends but more like mother and daughter.
Tang Feng sat down next to Xu Xinling and asked the waiter for a glass of plain water.
Then the three of them sat waiting.
Xu Xinling and Yan Min chatted about day-to-day matters, and Tang Feng couldn’t join in, just sitting there silently.
After another half an hour, the investors they were waiting for finally arrived late.
Three people came, led by a man in his forties.
The man was dressed in a suit and shoes, with a shiny slicked-back hairstyle.
What was most striking was his neatly trimmed small mustache.
In short, he gave off an impression of meticulousness.
As soon as he spoke, he had the distinct accent of a person from Shanghai, “Mr. Yan, I’m terribly sorry. Ran into a bit of an emergency just now and got delayed. Hope you don’t mind, eh?”
What else could Yan Min say but, “No problem, I understand.”
Then they shook hands.
Although Tang Feng strictly wasn’t Yan Min’s guest, he still got up to shake hands.
After the greetings, everyone sat down separately.
Yan Min didn’t go straight to the point but had the waiters serve the food first.
After everyone had eaten for a while, she took the opportunity to ask, “Manager Liu, does your company have any suggestions for our movie?”
The meticulous man was named Liu Chuanxiang, the investment manager of Huanhai Entertainment.
Hearing Yan Min’s query, he first put a mouthful of food into his mouth, then put down his chopsticks and wiped his mouth with a napkin.
“I think Mrs. Yan’s script is excellent and has great investment value. I have no suggestions regarding the script or the themes.”
Yan Min and Xu Xinling exchanged glances, each seeing a look of surprise in the other’s eyes.
The investors they had met before had always started by pointing out all sorts of problems with the script and the type of movie.
Huanhai Entertainment was the first company that hadn’t found fault.
It seemed that the investment had a good chance of going through.
But before the two could celebrate for long, they heard Liu Chuanxiang continue, “However, ah, about Mrs. Yan’s proposal for an investment of thirty million for a fifty percent share, I think we need to discuss it further.”
“Discuss what?”
Yan Min’s heart sank, but she still managed to keep a smile.
What do you think?
