Chapter 1596: Last Will and Testament (Part II)
"For my youngest grandson, Jin Chonglin, I leave the following jewelry intended for his future wife, vintage vehicles, and properties, in addition to liquid cash assets worth 50 million RMB."
The lawyer once again began reading the long list of jewelry, vintage vehicles, and properties that Grandma Li left to Jin Chonglin. The total of his inheritance was worth more than what his mother, Huang Yuyan, received.
He got less jewelry compared to his mother but more properties. He also appeared to have received all of his grandmother’s vintage automobiles.
Jin Chonglin didn’t bat his eyes after hearing what he inherited. Tears flowed down his face behind his large, dark sunglasses. He continued hugging his sobbing mother. The two of them comforted each other.
In contrast to the mother and son, Iris and Jin Liwei, the wife and husband appeared too calm. Their expressions were grave, yes, but their calmness unnerved the lawyer a little.
The lawyer felt quite intimidated by Jin Liwei’s aura. He felt like if he fumbled the reading of the old madam’s last will and testament today, his career would be over.
He cleared his throat and continued reading. This was a job that he needed to accomplish perfectly.
Hopefully, the Jin family wouldn’t have conflicts among each other commonly witnessed in similarly other wealthy families. The more peaceful the transfer of inheritance to the recipients, the faster his job would be completed. Then he wouldn’t need to deal with the scary and intimidating President-CEO of Jin Corporation.
In addition, the presence of Sir Lu Jianhong added to the pressure. The lawyer felt like he was about to suffocate.
Sir Lu might be wearing a faint smile on his face, but his sharp eyes watched everything like a wise, seasoned hawk. There was no room for any mistake by the lawyer.
"For my great-grandsons, Jin Haoyu and Jin Lingyu, I leave the following list of properties, in addition to liquid cash assets worth 25 million RMB for each child."
Once again, the lawyer began reading the list of properties to be inherited by each of the twins.
Iris and Jin Liwei looked at each other. Neither of them expected that Grandma Li would leave so much for their twin sons.
Little Mochi and Little Matcha were still babies!
After reading the list of properties that the twins would inherit which were worth a little less than half a billion altogether, the lawyer added, "As my great-grandsons, Jin Haoyu and Jin Lingyu, are still underage at the time of my passing, I will leave the care of the properties to their mother and my granddaughter-in-law, Long Xiulan."
This time, Iris’ eyes almost popped out.
How come her grandmother-in-law singled her out?
"Excuse me, Attorney," she interrupted.
"Yes, Madam?" The lawyer paused reading.
"I think you skipped over my husband’s name."
The lawyer made a show of checking. "No, Madam. I didn’t make a mistake. The old madam only included your name. She had tasked you to care for the properties she left for your twin sons, not your husband, CEO Jin."
Iris looked at her husband. He smiled at her.
"Thank you, Attorney," Jin Liwei said. "My wife will do an excellent job in caring for the properties until they come of age. Please continue reading." Find more chapters on Freewebnovel @@novelbin@@
Iris still wanted to say more but stopped herself after receiving reassuring looks from both Jin Liwei and Grandpa Lu.
The lawyer continued, "I trust Long Xiulan to take care of the properties until my great-grandsons, Jin Haoyu and Jin Lingyu, reach the legal age to inherit. The liquid cash assets of 25 million RMB for each child would be re-invested in a trust fund which my great-grandsons, Jin Haoyu and Jin Lingyu, would receive in three portions. The first portion, once they reach the legal age to inherit. The second portion, once they graduate from the university or college of their choice. And finally, the third portion, once they have been married for five consecutive years."
Iris couldn’t help but smile in approval after hearing about her grandmother-in-law’s conditions.
This was more like it.
Although she was extremely generous to all of her children to the point of spoiling them, she didn’t want to just hand everything to them on a silver platter, causing them to grow into lazy bums. It seemed that Grandma Li had also considered this and added these conditions to the trust fund she left for Little Mochi and Little Matcha. Iris especially liked the second condition, for her sons to graduate from university or college first before receiving a portion of the trust fund.
Jin Liwei also nodded in approval beside her.
The lawyer hesitated before reading the next paragraph. Everyone waited but he still hadn’t continued yet.
"Attorney, is there any problem?" Jin Liwei asked.
"Ah, no." The lawyer shook his head. "My apologies. I’ll continue reading."
Iris and Jin Liwei nodded.
"I leave in the care of my granddaughter-in-law, Long Xiulan, liquid cash assets worth 50 million RMB to be left for my other great-grandchildren, the ones that I cannot mention here in this final will and testament to protect their identities. You should know who I’m talking about."
Iris felt like her breath stopped.
"Huh? Who?" Huang Yuyan was clueless. "Which other great-grandchildren? I have more grandchildren? Xiulan? Liwei?"
At first, Jin Chonglin also felt confused, but upon seeing Jin Liwei and Grandpa Lu’s unsurprised expressions, he seemed to understand.
"We’ll speak about it later, Mom," Jin Liwei assured his mother.
The lawyer peeked at everyone’s reactions. He caught the stunned expression on Iris Long’s face earlier. But now, she regained a calm expression.
Whether she was only acting or not, the lawyer wasn’t sure.
When his client, the old madam, had requested to include this in her will, he was quite shocked, to be honest. He had never expected that there would be a scandal like this within the Jin family.
But thinking more about it, the lawyer wasn’t as surprised. Other families had plenty of similar dirty laundry like this.
Poor Iris Long.
Everyone believed that she was living a fairy-tale-like life married to the head of the Jin family, but she still had to deal with the illegitimate children of her husband.
What do you think?
