"Oh, it’s Ketchup and Popcorn," Huang Yuyan cooed, thinking that her daughter-in-law was video-calling her cats as usual.

Although she felt confused about why Iris would video-call her cats at this time, Huang Yuyan thought that maybe her daughter-in-law wanted to distract her from the main issue which was Jin Liwei fathering illegitimate children.

And Iris succeeded!

Huang Yuyan was indeed distracted. All of her son and daughter-in-law’s cat children were adorable.

"Say hello to your grandma, Ketchup and Bacon," Iris said.

"Hello, Grandma Yuyan! The cute and mighty Ketchup loves my grandma so, so, so much! Mwah mwah tsup tsup! Meow~"

"Aaaaah!" Huang Yuyan screamed. She stared at the phone in total shock.

"Greetings to grandmother. Please do not shout like that or you will leave Bacon in emotional distress. At this rate, Bacon will have to ask grandmother for compen—"

"Alright, Bacon," Jin Liwei interrupted his crooked cat AI son. "That’s enough. You’re scaring your grandmother."

Bacon’s tail swished slowly from side to side. He muttered, "Bacon is not scary. Mother says that Bacon is adorable, not scary."

"Wh-what?!" Huang Yuyan clutched her chest while continuing to stare at the phone screen as if she were looking at the mouth of a deadly monster.

Jin Chonglin felt incredibly amused by his mother’s reaction. He remembered the first time he learned about the special existence of his cat AI niece and nephew. At least he wasn’t as embarrassing as his mother.

Hahaha!

He would have continued laughing if not for his older brother glaring at him. He finally behaved…barely.

"Mom," Iris called for her mother-in-law’s attention.

Huang Yuyan could barely take her eyes away from the phone screen. She glanced at her daughter-in-law, sons, and Grandpa Lu. Everyone seemed unsurprised by what was happening.

Was she the only normal one in the room?

Or was she the weird one?

What was happening?

How come two cats were speaking to her?

Was this normal?!!!

It was a good thing that Huang Yuyan’s heart was strong. If not, she would have already had a heart attack from the tremendous shock.

Then she entered denial mode.

She released a nervous laugh. "I know what you’re all doing! This is a prank, isn’t it? Xiulan my dear, I never expected that your brother-in-law would influence you to prank me."

"Hey, Mom!" Jin Chonglin grew defensive again. "Why is everything my fault?!"

Iris and Jin Liwei glanced at each other.

Grandpa Lu watched everything in amusement. He had no intention of explaining on behalf of the husband and wife. From his appearance, he appeared to be waiting for a good show. The vitality he had lost since his good friend, Li Zhiruo, passed away gradually returned. The old man was finally beginning to look like his usual, energetic self.

Iris took several deep breaths. "Mom, this is not a prank."

Huang Yuyan looked at her with disbelieving eyes. Her mother-in-law was still in denial.

"Ketchup and Bacon are real, but they’re not regular cats. They are artificial intelligence entities that I created and programmed myself. Ketchup is the first one, so she’s the older sister."

"Ehehehe. Yep, that’s me, the cute and mighty Ketchup! Meow~"

Huang Yuyan still looked like she had trouble understanding what her daughter-in-law was explaining.

Even so, Iris continued.

"And Bacon is the younger brother."

"It is quite unfortunate that Bacon has been born a little later," the black cat AI lamented. "The world would have been a better place if Bacon had been born first than this idio—than this imbeci—than this…this…ah, there are no more suitable synonyms to describe this…creature who is, unfortunately, Bacon’s sister. Mother, can you give birth to another younger sibling in the virtual world? This sister is quite irritating, if Bacon may say so myself."

"Bacon, you big meanie! Take this! And this, and this, and THIS!!!"

Ketchup executed a series of high-level cat kung fu, attacking her younger brother with the flair of a cool master.

Bacon dodged everything. He didn’t fight back at all, just evading all of his older sister’s attacks. His parents, especially his father, had repeatedly nailed into his mind that he held great power of destruction.

Although Bacon felt annoyed by his older AI sister, he knew that he couldn’t truly hurt her. They were family, after all. And he needed to protect his family no matter what.

Huang Yuyan felt even more confused.

Why were these talking cats suddenly fighting each other?

But….

Oh, wow.

That was a cool and smooth move.

Then Huang Yuyan found herself cheering. "Ketchup, you need to be faster than your brother! Oh, Bacon. Can’t you let your sister catch you even just once?"

"Bacon will allow his sister to catch me once if grandmother offers a red packet."

"Deal. Grandma will give you a red packet."

Bacon’s tail rotated into a blur but his movements slowed down in an exaggerated manner. Ketchup was finally able to pounce on him.

"The cute and mighty Ketchup has won! Meowarharhar! Grandma, Ketchup wants a red packet, too!"

"Of course, sweetie. Grandma will give both Ketchup and Bacon red packets."

"Yay yay! Meow~"

Iris and Jin Liwei looked at each other, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. They were preparing themselves to expend more energy into trying to explain to Huang Yuyan the existence of Ketchup and Bacon, yet here she was already promising the two AI cats red packets.

"As expected of my sister-in-law’s children," Jin Chonglin couldn’t help but mutter under his breath.

Her children could always charm people into loving them. It didn’t matter whether they were actual, living children or virtual ones. @@novelbin@@

Just look at his mother. Huang Yuyan had already fallen into the cuteness trap.

Iris heard what her brother-in-law said with her excellent hearing. She felt proud of her cat AI children. Despite their sensitively special existence, they were still able to make their grandmother accept them even before understanding what knowing about them entailed.

"Xiulan my dear, how to give Ketchup and Bacon red packets?" Huang Yuyan turned to Iris and asked.

She appeared to have already forgotten about her earlier shock and horror after witnessing such a bizarre scene as two cats speaking like normal children.
