Hoare and Regno stood in the cave, looking as small as tiny dolls.
"W-What is this?" Hoare asked, bewildered, pointing at the space before them.
Regno clearly knew what was going on, his eyes burning with intensity as he looked at Hoare. "The Slytherin vault has always been open, and the protection fee needs to be paid on time every year."@@novelbin@@
"Up until now, there's been a backlog of thirty-two years of unpaid protection fees."
Hoare watched as Regno pulled out a massive ledger from who knows where, licked his fingers, flipped through several pages, and found the information he was looking for.
He turned the ledger towards Hoare.
With a long, sharp fingernail, he pointed to a line. "Look, we at Gringotts have records of everything."
Indeed, the ledger recorded the income and expenses of this vault over the years.
Hoare raised an eyebrow. No wonder the goblins, with their love for money, were happy to see a vault in an unclaimed state for so many years.
