Chapter 1189: Man on the Mission-2
"Oh? That's a lot that I didn't know about. You have already met them? Good for you, but I am sure they would make your life a hell soon." It was Samuel's voice from the other hand of the phone.
Let's jump back half an hour to know what actually happened after he went out to the base of the Talia's organization.
With his Aston Martin, he was already garnering attention no matter where he went, but when he entered the busy streets of London, it felt like everyone was either pointing, looking, or taking photos of his vehicle. Rothschild had a good connection with the most luxurious car companies in the world, so they would send out a few early concept cars that were not counted in their accounts.
Many wealthy people would boast about having a one-of-a-kind car or one that was made in minimum quantities, but these people were nothing but dirt when compared to real wealthy elites that ran the world.
These companies would go through any length just to deliver their products to such individuals. Just a mere glimpse of them in their product would be comparable to doing a year's worth of advertisement with celebrities, after all. After all, only these people were truly recognizable when it came to the worth of luxurious items and had a mutual synergy with other people of their status!
Anyway, he reached the location, and looking at the ten-story modest building beside other large congloromate skyscrapers made him doubt himself for a second. He honestly expected them to be in some alleyway that would lead to some underground bar where these agents would meet to collect their mission and bounty!
There was some security at the gate, but strangely, they let him go in without even checking. He drove and parked his car before he saw a person dressed in suit waiting for him. Samuel got up and knew they must somehow have found out about his identity, but he was certain that they didn't know why he came here.
"Sir? If you follow me, I will lead you inside."
"I am not here to issue a mission. I am here to meet your leader," Samuel said bluntly, which did make the other person falter for a second, but he soon maintained his calm like nothing happened.
"Sir, I am afraid to say, but we are a loose organization, so there is no concept of a leader. The tasks are issued on merit, and several agents could take part in the mission independently, but there are some guidelines preventing them from doing things outside our jurisdiction. We have many senior agents; I am sure they could satiate your curiosity."
"Oh? I heard there is a famous lady, Talia, who is quite good at her job. I need to hire her for something. Can you inform her?"
The man's face changed and didn't recover like before. Everyone used codenames; even he didn't know who this Talia person was, but soon Samuel began to describe her appearance in detail, which was even more baffling.
Soon, his intercom vibrated, and he answered the call in an even more respectful tone. It was basically a command to bring the young man in to one of the private offices. He knew what people occupied that place, so he was quite surprised by such sudden development, but Samuel, who had been listening, remained unfazed.
These types of people would bug the whole place because this was their lifeline. Unlike movies, they weren't playing games, and their first priority was survival because they were in such dangerous business. He knew their conversation must be heard by someone important; after all, Samuel knew his identity was important even to these people.
Within minutes, he was standing outside an intricately designed door that screamed history. Samuel knew a lot about them from Talia, but seeing the 'culture' in flesh was a different kind of experience. It was like when he first found out about the house of Medici being still alive and well.
This organization's history dated even further than that, which was astonishing to say the least, but he calmed himself knowing what he would face at the other side of the door. The man stayed behind; Samuel could see obvious fear in his eyes, which made him smile.
After knocking, he heard a faint woman's voice who told him to enter but when he stepped inside his senses were assualted by large quantity of smoke that was filling the whole room. He could barely see the other person but he could feel her presence which made it easier for him to make his way to the table.
"You are the boy that Robert adopted? I am sorry about the smoke, but it will clear up soon." She said it in a nonchalant tone, but it was a sign that she knew many things about Samuel and a warning that he was in a much more disadvantagious situation since he was on their turf.
Samuel also felt his consciousness being invaded by a strange poison, but it was much milder and less complex than what he experienced last night. He understood the reason for the fog, but it only made him smile.
"I didn't know you knew my father."
"Your father is quite famous, and we have business to know these things. Anyway, you would start feeling dizzy in about two minutes, so try not to fall off the chair." Samuel could now hear the silence of the woman sitting opposite to him. She was smiling like she had already won.
"I am sorry, but I had a good rest last night. Beside, I wouldn't want to appear unsightly as your guest." He said it without a stutter or discomfort. The woman squinted her eyes, trying to see if he was faking it.
Unlike him, the fog didn't deter her one bit. She was quite used to it. She had to make such a move when hearing Talia's name from his mouth. Her location was still unknown since she departed for the mission tomorrow. They were set to arrive last evening, but there was no word from them for the whole night, and now comes a rich brat mentioning her like she was his friend! How could she not teach the arrogant young man a lesson!?
What do you think?
