Chapter 52: Chapter 52 Husband, Is This Okay?

“Brother-in-law!”

Before entering the house, Daisy ran up to Chen Jie with arms outstretched and claws bared, ready to embrace him.

Chen Jie smiled as well, saying to Daisy, “Missed your brother-in-law?”

“Missed you!”

She tenderly told her husband.

Chen Jie smiled and said, “Hmm.”

“Why did you buy so much stuff again?”

“Went to town, saw what the house needed, and bought some things.”

The three of them walked into the house, beginning to move the items inside, Chen Jie noticing Su Yunjin’s sweat and the hoe in the yard, said, “Have you been doing chores at home?”

Daisy held up the new dress against herself and twirled around on the spot.

“Stop twirling, you’ll get the dress dirty,” Yunjin said.

Daisy stopped and excitedly hugged Chen Jie, giving him a kiss, “Thank you, brother-in-law!”

Jie laughed, “Good, Ruirui knows how to be grateful, unlike some people… Don’t they have anything to say?”

Daisy glanced expectantly at her sister.

With both the young and older pair of eyes staring at her, Yunjin’s face turned red instantly, and she ran off with the clothes to the inner room.

“Hey, are you just running off like that?” Jie called after her.

Yunjin didn’t answer.

Jie then turned to Daisy saying, “Let’s not follow your sister’s example. She’s not very courteous, is she!”

“Brother-in-law, what do you mean by ‘courteous’?” Daisy asked wisely.

Jie thought for a moment and replied, “Being discourteous is like not knowing how to behave. For example, if your brother-in-law buys you new clothes, and you are happy and kiss him, that’s right, isn’t it?”

“And I bought your sister new clothes too, shouldn’t she also give your brother-in-law a kiss?”

“Mm, very courteous. You’re way too courteous,” Jie said with a laugh, then pointing towards the inner room, he said, “You go tell your sister to put on the new clothes and come out to show me. How about I buy you candied haws tomorrow?”

“Really?” Daisy’s eyes widened with excitement.

Jie laughed, “Have I ever lied to you?”

After thinking for a moment, Daisy replied, “The bad brother-in-law lied before, but the good brother-in-law never lied.”

“Then will you go?”

Jie asked, and after thinking again, Daisy said, “I’ll go, for candied haws!”

“Right, for candied haws!” Daisy looked at Chen Jie and said, “Okay, I’ll go then.”

Daisy ran into the room but soon Yunjin’s voice could be heard from inside.

“No, Ruirui, we haven’t bathed in a long time. Let’s bathe tomorrow after your brother-in-law leaves, and then we can wear the new clothes. Do you understand? If we wear them now, they’ll get dirty.”

Jie looked at his wife in surprise.
