Chapter 392: Sad Future

This was the first time Gao Ming attempted to use the power of his left eye. The power he stole from the God of the Past was extremely useful. It didn’t exhaust his energy. The only side effect was that over-exposure might cause Gao Ming to have difficulty differentiating between the past and the present, and there was a potential that he might go insane.

“The underground garage is the place for the residents here to store the dead bodies. These rich folks sure are neat. They have a fixed corpse disposal system.”

Different from the chaos at Everlasting Life Apartments, Prosperity Neighbourhood maintained the most basic civility and rules. They were fake, but it also meant that they believed they hadn’t been abandoned by rules.

“Are we still going into the garage?” Fan Li believed in Gao Ming unconditionally.

“The thing I’m looking for is not here. There’s no need to take unnecessary risks. It looks like we have to trick them to open the door.” Gao Ming shrugged.

“The cameras are still waiting. The survivors inside the buildings should know that we haven’t entered the garage. It’s harder to get them to open the door now.” There were fewer people following them. Doctor Lee also worried that he and his wife might disappear suddenly.

“It looks like the corpse on your back has scared them. How funny. They are doing the same thing, aren’t they?” He Jing didn’t dare to speak too loudly, afraid that Gao Ming might kill him.

“Isn’t that humanity in general?”

Inside the original security room of Building Five of Prosperity Neighbourhood, many people were split into different groups. They were cautious of one another.

“Boss Shen, why didn’t you stay in the old city but come over to the East City?” A thin man sat before the surveillance panel. He looked like a student from Ancient China. He spoke slowly but confidently, like everything was within his control. There were a lot of chairs placed inside the room, but only a middle-aged man was seated. The rest only dared to stand beside him.

“Do you think I want to be here if the main surveillance room of Prosperity Neighbourhood is not here?” The middle-aged man was Shen Tian from the Han Hai Tragedy Response Union. After the anomalies appeared, he instantly had his people enter the anomalies. He used human lives to accumulate his strength and ability.

“Presently, food and water are the most precious. You’ve brought so many people here just to look at the surveillance?!” The thin man tried to provoke Shen Tian.

“Situ Cheng, don’t push it. Don’t think you control the entire Building Five.” The man beside Shen Tian pulled out a bloody knife. The blade was normal, but it had been transmuted to contain strong Yin energy. “You said you are Situ An’s inheritor, but we do not care about that. We’ll cut Situ An even if he’s here in person.”

“Stop arguing!” A frosty voice came from the other side of the room. A few security members surrounded a young man. The man who spoke was the chief of the South Port’s Zhen Hai Investigation Centre, Wang Chenyi. He was Wang Jie’s eldest uncle’s son and Wang Jie’s grandfather’s favourite grandson. Different from Wang Jie, Wang Chenyi was the family’s pride since he was young. He was cultivated as the family heir. He had mobilised the entire South Port Centre’s people for this anomaly. This was also his grandfather’s test for him.

The tragedy was coming. Wang Chenyi had to display enough capability to stabilise his position as the official family heir. Once Wang Chenyi spoke, the room became quiet. Shen Tian and Situ Cheng were not scared of Wang Chenyi. They merely didn’t want to oppose him openly. After all, this event was held by Han Hai Headquarters, and Wang Chenyi was the closest headquarters representative.

“How do you still have the mood to argue among yourselves?” Wang Chenyi stared at the monitors. “Pull back the surveillance. Focus on the student carrying the dead body!”

Everyone soon saw the target. They stared at the face on screen, and eventually, recognition dawned.

“Gao Ming from the Class 13? Why is he here with a corpse?”

Others might not be familiar with him, but Wang Chenyi knew what Gao Ming had done.

Gao Ming was related to the anomalies at Han De Private School and Li San Hospital. As one of the founders of Dead Water Forum, he seriously threatened the headquarters’ foundation. He even killed the security members who returned from Xin Lu and trapped Wan Jie’s group inside the anomaly.

Sometimes, Wang Chenyi was also confused. Wang Jie and Gao Ming were both from Class 13. How was there such a huge difference between them?

“The thirteen investigation centres from the West Port’s Futuristic Park are fighting with the East City Student Council. We don’t need to provoke Gao Ming. We’re all trapped here. It’s better to have friends than enemies.” Shen Tian’s force was mainly situated in the old city. That was where the horror game players were the most active. He didn’t want to have direct conflicts with Gao Ming. 𝐫àΝo͍฿Ёꞩ

“How long can the food and water we have sustain us? Gao Ming is not alone. He has a lot of people from Everlasting Life Apartments following him. Once we give an inch, they’ll take a mile.” Situ Cheng shook his head. “Plus, you have no other choices. The person who guards the door tricks Gao Ming into going to the underground garage. You know better than I do what is hidden there.”

The cameras started rolling again. In the monitors, Gao Ming’s group had returned. However, they didn’t head to Building Five but to Building Three.

Seeing this, Situ Cheng and Wang Chenyi’s expressions changed subtly. Shen Tian’s eyes narrowed too.

“We barely escaped from Building Three. He’s courting death.” The man beside Shen Tian glared at the screen. “That building has been fully infiltrated by the worst future. No one can escape there alive.”@@novelbin@@

“Can the cameras at Building Three still be used?” Situ An patted the shoulder of his people. A bespectacled man took out a keyboard and started working it. Soon, images from Building Three were pulled out. However, what they saw made everyone uncomfortable.

“Close it! Shut your eyes! Don’t let the pollution spread here!” Wang Chenyi yelled. His people quickly rushed to shut down the surveillance.

No one was affected. Only the bespectacled man had black blood vessels growing around his eyes. However, no one, including the man himself, noticed this.
