Kang Jinwook quietly stared into Sunwoo's eyes as they trembled. His lips, which kept parting nervously, seemed to indicate that he was deeply flustered but unable to speak further.

"I just checked in to see if you were doing okay. Don't worry. No one knows you're here except for me," he said.

For the sake of caution, he deliberately didn’t appear in front of Sunwoo. Of course, it’s not like Chairman Kang or Kang Jin-tae would have had the time to worry.

"It sure looks that way," Sunwoo replied, still unsettled. "Then at least try to contact me. No, what I mean is—"

That was what he had really wanted to know. He wasn’t sure if this was the right way to put it, but it felt strange that Kang Jinwook had secretly observed him for months without making any contact. This didn’t seem like something Kang Jinwook would do.

Then, Sunwoo remembered that he had kept his phone turned off the entire time. Even if Kang Jinwook had sent a message, he wouldn’t have known.

As that thought crossed his mind, a sense of guilt slowly began to creep up on him.
