Chapter 695: Chronic Illness
“Lu Ye!” exclaimed Yi Yi from the wooden house all of a sudden.
Lu Ye, who was focused on practising his blade technique in the centre of the island, came to his senses at once and turned to look in that direction.
He had never heard Yi Yi calling out to him in such an anxious voice, which was why his chest tightened for a moment.
The next moment, he appeared inside the wooden house. He could see Yi Yi nervously supporting Ye Liuli’s weight. She had lost consciousness with a pale face, and even her figure was convulsing as though she had been struck with hysteria.
Yi Yi and Ye Liuli had become close to each other after spending the past half a month together. Lu Ye was usually engrossed in comprehending the blade technique and the rewards from Hundred Wards Tower, so he didn’t have time to keep them company. As such, they would have fun together to kill time.
In Yi Yi’s heart, she had already regarded Ye Liuli as one of her rare friends. Sometimes, she would even dream about bringing her out of this Hidden Realm, though she was fully aware that it was impossible to do so.
When they were conversing earlier, Ye Liuli fell into such a state all of a sudden. Understandably, Yi Yi was astounded, for she had never come across such a thing before.
Lu Ye stepped forward and took over Ye Liuli from Yi Yi as the young girl was still convulsing. The moment he came into contact with her, he furrowed his brows.
He initially thought that Ye Liuli had been struck with hysteria, but that didn’t seem to be the case. That was because her body temperature was fluctuating wildly.
One had to know that even though Ye Liuli wasn’t powerful, she was a Cloud River Realm Master.Suddenly, Lu Ye recalled something. Such an illness had been with Ye Liuli since she was a young kid, and it would break out from time to time. The intervals were uncertain. Sometimes, it would only happen once every few years, but sometimes, it would strike her every few months.
This kind of information sprang into his mind the moment he entered the Hidden Realm. He supposed it was the Heavens’ doing.
He quickly placed Ye Liuli on the bed and told Yi Yi to restrict her limbs. Then, he clenched her mouth to prevent her from biting her tongue and took away her Storage Bag with his other hand.
If he remembered correctly, there was medicine in her Storage Bag.
There was a restriction on the Storage Bag. Anyway, a Restraining Lock was like an ornament to Lu Ye now. As a thought formed in his mind, the lock was immediately unlocked. Soon, he fished out a wooden box from the bag.
He opened the box and took out a pill the size of a cherry. Following that, he stuffed it into Ye Liuli’s mouth and used his Spiritual Power to help her swallow it.
As the medicinal efficacies dissolved, Ye Liuli was starting to recover, though her face was still very pale. Her body felt so cold that she was like a piece of ice sheet that had been around for thousands of years.
“What happened to her?” Yi Yi asked worriedly.
“It’s a chronic illness she has,” Lu Ye replied while staring fixedly at Ye Liuli.
Although she was on the mend, there was something off about her aura. Lu Ye felt her pulse and examined her with his Spiritual Power.
He wasn’t a Medical Cultivator, nor had he learned anything about it, but he was able to perform a simple check-up.
Upon inspection, he realised something was indeed off.
He turned Ye Liuli over so that her back was to him. Then, he activated his Spiritual Power and formed a split on her clothes with his fingers, after which her fair back came into his sight.
However, he furrowed his brows because there was a hideous mark on her back. At first glance, it looked like a brown centipede. It was a birthmark.
The birthmark had been on Ye Liuli’s back since she was born. Nevertheless, only Ye Ying and his Wife were aware of that. After all, it affected a woman’s beauty to have such a birthmark on her figure, even though it was on her back.
Everything would’ve been fine if it were just a birthmark. The crux of the problem was that the thing that seemed like a birthmark was squirming as though something was about to break out of it.
“Ah!” exclaimed Yi Yi while covering her mouth.
Lu Ye pointed at the birthmark while activating his Spiritual Power and forming a thought in his mind. His brows knitted together.
When he saw what was going on, he initially thought that a foreign body had entered Ye Liuli’s body. However, upon inspection, he realised there was nothing unusual in her body. The squirming of the birthmark wasn’t caused by an external force. Instead, the birthmark seemed to be a living creature. Everything just felt off.
Anyway, it could be confirmed that Ye Liuli’s anomaly was caused by the birthmark. It could even be said that the birthmark was the root of her chronic illness.
It wasn’t until Lu Ye examined the young girl again and found no problems that he retracted his hand.
It would’ve been great if Hua Ci were here. Given her mastery of the Way of Medicine, she might be able to detect something.
The birthmark’s squirming slowly subsided. At the same time, the coldness around Ye Liuli’s body dissipated as the colour was restored to her face.
She had finally gotten out of the woods. It must have something to do with the pill she had consumed.
“Help her get changed,” Lu Ye said and left the room.
Instead of practising his blade technique, he stood there and fell into his thoughts.
Ye Liuli’s anomaly made him recall some miscellaneous information. For example, it was a chronic illness she had always had since she was a young kid, and there was medicine in her Storage Bag. Also, Lu Ye recalled seeing information about the Valley of Medicine and the Divine Healer.
Those were the pieces of information he acquired when he entered the Hidden Realm. He didn’t recall it in the past, but Ye Liuli’s anomaly made the information spring back into his mind.
Certainly, the pills in her Storage Bag didn’t appear out of nowhere. They were made by the Divine Healer from the Valley of Medicine.
There were Medical Cultivators in Soaring Dragon Boundary, and the Divine Healer was the best one in this world.
When Ye Liuli was a young kid, Ye Ying brought her to the Valley of Medicine, where he obtained the pills.
However, he couldn’t get many pills at any one time because it was hard to preserve them. Therefore, he had to head to the Valley of Medicine every few years to get new ones.
Previously, he left Tyrant Blade Manor to get the pills for Ye Liuli, but Ye Xiong exposed his whereabouts, after which he was killed by those from Divine Will Sect.
On the other hand, Ye Liuli only had the last pill with her.
Lu Ye seemed to realise some instructions. Everything showed that he had to bring Ye Liuli to the Valley of Medicine. Otherwise, she would have no medicine to take the next time her illness broke out.
He had learned a lot after half a month of cultivation. However, one couldn’t stay in the same place to cultivate forever. That was why many cultivators would go out there and experience the world.
If he stayed in Tyrant Blade Manor, those from Divine Will Sect would never be able to harm him, given the fact that he had built many wards around the place. Nevertheless, since he was in such a Hidden Realm, he couldn’t stay in the same place forever.
“Sixth Brother…” Ye Liuli was heard calling out to him weakly from the wooden house. It seemed that she had regained consciousness.
Lu Ye turned around and entered the building to see her lying in a lethargic state on the bed. Her clothes had been changed.
He sat down beside her, after which the helpless and frail young girl clenched his clothes.
“Do you still feel unwell?” Lu Ye asked. He placed a palm on her forehead and realised it was still slightly cold, but it was at a normal temperature, unlike how icy-cold she was earlier.
Ye Liuli shook her head and said gently, “Don’t worry about me, Sixth Brother. I’ll be fine very soon.”
Ye Six rarely returned to Tyrant Blade Manor, so he had never witnessed such an incident before. However, Ye Liuli was fully aware of her condition. She had to endure some excruciating pain whenever her illness struck, but she would be fine after the pain was gone.
“Get some shut-eye. You’ll be fine when you wake up.”
Ye Liuli obliged and closed her eyes, but she refused to let Lu Ye’s clothes go. She wasn’t only holding on to her only relative in the world, but also her last bit of hope.
A moment later, her breathing finally became stable. Lu Ye took her hand away and placed it under the quilt before sending a signal to Yi Yi, who understood his intentions and left the house with him.
Then, Lu Ye passed her a Control Gem and ordered, “I’ll inform you when it’s safe to leave. By then, take her to look for me.”
Yi Yi instantly realised his plan, but she wasn’t worried. Lu Ye was still kicking and alive after going through so much on the Cloud River Battlefield. There was no way he would lose his life in the Soaring Dragon Boundary. However, she still reminded him by saying, “Stay safe.”
Lu Ye gently tapped her forehead and ruffled her hair before turning around to leave.
Since he had decided to leave this place, he had to settle the cultivators from Divine Will Sect outside. Otherwise, it would be hard for him to flee by bringing Ye Liuli with him, given her condition.
Ever since an Elder from Divine Will Sect had gone missing in the manor, no one had the guts to barge into the place anymore. However, that didn’t mean they were gone.
Lu Ye suddenly returned to Tyrant Blade Manor and even killed the Deputy Sect Master, Pang Wanhai. There was no way they would let him off.
They didn’t dare to enter the manor, so they had been monitoring the place from a distance. No one could hide in the same place forever. As long as Lu Ye had the guts to appear, they would be able to besiege him.
In a gazebo outside Tyrant Blade Manor, the Third Elder of the Divine Will Sect, Pei Yuanhua, placed his hands behind his back and stared at the manor in silence.
Divine Will Sect had two Ninth-Order Cloud River Realm Masters. One of them was the Sect Master, Xiong Tieshan, and the other was the Deputy Sect Master, Pang Wanhai. All the Elders were in the Eighth Order, and there were more than ten of them.
This kind of heritage was pretty outstanding in Soaring Dragon Boundary, but it wasn’t comparable to the top great forces.
The difference was the number of cultivators in the Eighth Order and Ninth Order. Any top great force had over a hundred such cultivators.
Although Divine Will Sect was pretty powerful, it could only be considered a local champion in Feng Zhou.
As the Third Elder, Pei Yuanhua had to personally deal with this matter. It showed how much those from Divine Will Sect prioritised this matter.
They had no other choice. The Deputy Sect Master was killed. Even the Ninth Elder had gone missing, and he had probably lost his life as well. Only three other people were more powerful than Pei Yuanhua in Divine Will Sect.
The Sect Master and the Chief Elder were injured when fighting Ye Ying a while back, so they were recuperating now. On the other hand, the Second Elder had to take charge of the Sect. As such, the Third Elder had no choice but to deal with this matter.
What do you think?
