Chapter 506 - 498: Accident
Feng’an City, deep into the night.
Amidst the hazy lights, a fat old madam rolled her eyes and waved at Shen Bu in the distance, then quickly turned and walked away.
Visiting the brothel just to tease her, this old madam? She hadn’t seen such a bastard in her two lifetimes.
Chen Mu watched the departing fat old madam, his face showing boredom.
This fat lady was really no fun at all, lacking the sight of her frowning angrily, the joy of freeloading would at least halve.
"Guest, your tea." Shen Bu poured the greenish-yellow tea into the delicate White Jade teacup, placing it in front of Chen Mu with a sycophantic smile. Then, holding the tea tray under his arm, he turned and was about to leave.
But in the next instant.
Slap!
A hand suddenly grabbed his wrist, like a pair of iron tongs. An imposing force enveloped his entire body, making it hard for him to take even one step forward.
Shen Bu turned around in fright and trembled, then met Chen Mu’s face, which was not quite smiling.
"This tea, it doesn’t have any problems, does it?"
Shen Bu’s heart skipped a beat: "Guest, this is no joke to be made."
"If the tea has no problem, then the problem must be with you?" Chen Mu’s face was playful.
"Ever since I entered this place, you’ve been watching me closely."
"And all the while, you keep skulking off into the shadows."
"What? Are you afraid I’ll discover something?" Chen Mu narrowed his eyes.
Feeling Chen Mu’s increasingly grim and icy gaze, Shen Bu’s forehead began to sweat profusely.

Trying to kill me upon our first meeting? This guy’s ruthless!
"One of us, one of us!" He couldn’t worry about exposing himself now and immediately activated the Heavenly Demon Spirit Seed in his mind.
Sensing the close connectedness, Chen Mu was suddenly taken aback.
"Are you from the Thousand Blade Camp’s Yin Soldiers?"
"No, I’m a secret agent from Qingyang City."
Chen Mu: "..."
How could a Qingyang City Secret Spy possess a Heavenly Demon Spirit Seed?!
Shen Bu couldn’t help but think back to the agony of being forced to recite the East Pole Longevity Scripture while being watched by three burly men: "I had no choice."
How many copies of the Heavenly Demon Curse had Lü Liang spread around?! What a sin!
Chen Mu sighed resignedly, released the Qi Forbidden and let go of the hand.
He picked up the White Jade teacup speechlessly, lifted his chin slightly, and pointed towards the bearded middle-aged man in the distance: "Is that guy also one of us?"
Compared to Shen Bu, that person’s movements were even more secretive, constantly changing his position, yet still slowly closing in.
"That guy? I don’t know him..." Shen Bu carefully examined the man’s face, then his expression changed instantly.
"You’re unaware, Sir, but because of your arrival, there have been several changes in the Thousand Blade Camp recently. The Qingyang City Secret Spy Bureau has issued an assassination order against you. That person might very well be an assassin from the Milling People Division."
Chen Mu was stunned.
Changes in the Thousand Blade Camp, but instead of troubling Lü Liang, they come to assassinate me?
Am I being seen as an easy target here?
Chen Mu tightened his grip on the teacup, his face darkening. Just as he was about to stand up and kill the middle-aged man, his right palm suddenly throbbed with pain.
In that moment, the teacup in his hand seemed to become the drain in the bottom of a pool, a powerful sucking force suddenly emerging.
He turned his head in astonishment, only to find that without knowing when, Shen Bu had already silently stood three paces away, his face full of triumphant scheming smiles.
Dammit!
You’re tripping up one of your own people?!
"Sir, it’s dangerous inside the city, you’d better stay away from Feng’an City." Shen Bu laughed heartily, and before Chen Mu could react, he suddenly surged with Yin Spirit Divine Power.
Whoosh!
A slight dust cloud rose, and in an instant, Chen Mu twisted and shrank like a beam of light, vanishing without a trace.
Slap!
The White Jade teacup fell through the air, securely caught in Shen Bu’s palm.
Not far away, the bearded middle-aged man who had been keeping a peripheral watch on Chen Mu suddenly changed his expression, his gaze deadlocked on Shen Bu.
...
In the sky, the full moon shone like a plate, casting bright moonlight that splashed down, while wisps of gauzy clouds drifted.
From the ground, odd howling sounds would occasionally emerge, as cold black winds appeared suddenly, spinning and blowing towards the distance.
In a dip on the Netherworld mountainside, rows of wooden huts were built against the mountain, and a campfire flickered at the open space in front of the huts, crackling loudly.
Dozens of people, young and old, male and female, gathered around the fire, singing and dancing together.
On the periphery, a thin old man held a bamboo tube, taking infrequent puffs of his water pipe, contentedly watching the lively scene before him.
"Old Yang, thanks to your guidance, we’ve had a bumper harvest of millet and corn this year. Plus the Fire Rabbits you helped everyone tame and rear, we’re sure to have a good winter, all thanks to you." A dark-skinned man next to him said, his face beaming with smiles as he complimented the elder.
"Not at all, the harvest is the result of everyone’s hard work; all I did was run my mouth a bit." The thin Old Yang waved his hand, chuckling.
"Besides, we should be thankful for this mountain dip; without it shielding us from the Black Wind, we wouldn’t have had any peace."
The people around nodded in agreement, the atmosphere growing warmer with complimentary exchanges.
Suddenly, the clouds shifted overhead, concealing half of the moon.
A cold wind blew, causing the campfire to roar.
The next moment, a large puff of white mist suddenly appeared, and within a few breaths, the scenes just three steps away became hazy, completely obscured by the thick fog.
The people stopped their singing, looking around perplexed.
Shriek!
A sharp animal cry echoed from above, as a fox’s head as large as a millstone suddenly appeared out of the mist, its mouth full of sharp teeth wide open, a young man in grey at the edge of the fire was swallowed in one gulp.
With a brief, stifled scream, the fox’s head whooshed back into the mist.
The people stood rigid, petrified by the sudden turn of events.
In the next moment, three huge fox heads slowly emerged from the mist, hovering in the air, their six lantern-sized eyes flickering with blood-red light.
"Run!"
What do you think?
