Chapter 132 132: Mate Pairing Ceremony
Qiao Suisui looked at his serious expression and nodded without any doubt.
What bad intentions could Sang Yan have?
Qiao Suisui felt, in terms of reliability, Ruka was first, and Sang Yan second.
At that moment, the man without bad intentions lightly tapped his finger and sent a message to Gai Meilun as Qiao Suisui turned around:
[Delete all those unsavory files immediately.]
Qiao Suisui did not plan to stay in the small building for long, so she shared her intentions with Sang Yan before leaving.
"You want to use the organization's power to investigate the truth behind the Battle of Twin Wings?" Sang Yan was somewhat surprised after hearing her thoughts. "Why do you suddenly want to look into this?"
Qiao Suisui replied, "It's not a sudden thought; I've always suspected that there's an unknown story behind the Battle of Twin Wings."
In the past, although she had her suspicions, she felt she had no reason to stay in this world. Therefore, even with some guesses, she lacked the motivation to seek the truth. But now it was different; after learning about Anubis's outcome through Lanze, she had to find a way to clarify what the Rebel Army's goals were. If she could help him uncover the truth from back then, perhaps she might have a chance to change his fate and prevent him from taking such a tragic path.
After pondering for a moment, Sang Yan said, "If you're really determined to look into this dust-covered past, I have a way."
"What is it?"
"Among the Rebel Army members who were surrounded and captured back then, three escaped to the Freedom Alliance and were given asylum. One of them is in Kanbukun; he's the local Archbishop."
A glint of hope rose in Qiao Suisui's eyes as she asked, "Does that mean if we could meet him, we might be able to uncover the truth from back then?"
She already knew the A-side of the story, which is what Ruka and Carl had told her from the Federation's perspective. If she could get the B-side from the Archbishop, showing the Rebel Army's viewpoint, she would know the full story.
"However..." Sang Yan hesitated, looking at her, "meeting the Archbishop might not be easy because he is the Beast God's Envoy and often travels to help those Beastmen who are struggling in agony, so his whereabouts are unpredictable. There is one way that might invite him to come see us..."
Qiao Suisui quickly said, "No matter what it is, I want to try."
Sang Yan lowered his gaze, a blush spreading over his handsome face.
"Dragon Clan descendants are rare, so each individual's pairing ceremony is taken very seriously, believed to need the Beast God's blessing." His voice grew tense as he spoke, glancing at Qiao Suisui's expression.
Qiao Suisui was first startled upon hearing this, then blinked and smiled, "That's easy to handle; we can just hold a pairing ceremony in Kanbukun, right? Only..."
The girl's eyes, dark as black grapes, stared straight at Sang Yan, with a pleading look on her small face.
"Only, you might have to suffer a bit."
Sang Yan's heartbeat shot to 180. He swallowed, then hurriedly said, "Suffer? How could it be suffering? I, I... I'm willing."
Three days later, in Kanbukun.
A bride of one meter eighty, with muscular arms, held up piles of the wedding dress skirt, standing at the entrance of the church.
"When does the ceremony start, ugh, my feet hurt," Gai Meilun complained, standing mightily in size 44 high heels with legs apart.
He winked at Sang Yan, who was beside him in formal attire, and coyly hooked his arm, saying, "Brother Yan, walk slower later, okay? It's my first pairing ceremony, I'm not very proficient."
Sang Yan stood rigidly in place, not wanting to say a word.
Behind the "match made in heaven" stood Qiao Suisui in her strapless cocktail dress and Ah Yao in his suit and tie, holding a small flower basket with an innocent look on his face.
Qiao Suisui quietly approached Sang Yan from behind and asked, "Are we sure the Archbishop is really going to show up?"
Sang Yan turned his head and answered softly, "Don't worry, I've already had our people send a message to the Archbishop through special channels. He will definitely appear."
As his words faded, the solemn chime of bells rang out, echoing above the entire cathedral; the doors of the church slowly opened, with the radiant colors of stained glass spilling out, resplendent and colorful.
Sang Yan nudged Gai Meilun with his elbow, who immediately lowered his bridal veil, covering his heavily made-up face. He 'graciously' took Sang Yan's arm, and the two of them walked side-by-side into the church. Ah Yao grabbed a handful of petals from his basket and scattered them over the pair's heads.
At the end of the church, the Archbishop stood under the stained glass dome, as if his whole being was glazed with Holy Light.
Sang Yan and Gai Meilun stood side by side in front of the Archbishop, with Gai Meilun in a wedding dress, the heavily made-up face beneath the veil appearing particularly comical.
The Archbishop, facing the ludicrous couple, did not have a trace of anger on his face; instead, he revealed a tender smile. He touched the foreheads of Sang Yan and Gai Meilun with his fingertips, offering a sincere blessing, "May the light of the Beast God shine upon your union, and may you find strength and happiness in each other's company."
Sang Yan's heart raced like a drum. He knew this was just a ruse, but the Archbishop's blessing made him feel slightly uneasy. Afraid that the Beast God's oracle would truly descend and they would lose the blessing if he were to couple with the one he truly loved, he quickly explained, "Archbishop, this is actually just a way to lure you here. We're not really coupling."
Gai Meilun added from the side, "Right, right, I'm just a stand-in actor." He lifted his veil, his false eyelashes fluttering as he forced a "shy" smile.
The Archbishop was clearly not angry and simply smiled lightly, "Regardless, may the blessing of the Beast God be with you. Now, tell me your true purpose."
Relieved, Sang Yan turned to Qiao Suisui, gesturing for her to come forward. Meanwhile, the Archbishop noticed the way Sang Yan looked at Qiao Suisui and smiled knowingly.
Qiao Suisui said, "Archbishop, I want to ask you about some past events."
Looking kindly at her, the Archbishop nodded, "Child, feel free to speak."
"Was the rebellion in the Battle of the Two Wings really led by the Rebel Army? If so, what was the reason for their sudden breach with the Federation? If not, is there some other inside story?"
The expression of the Archbishop changed in an instant to one of gravity, his benevolent eyes turning to ice. After a moment of silence, he spoke in a low voice, "Why do you wish to know these things?"
Her eyes resolute, Qiao Suisui said, "Because I must understand the truth of what happened back then, to help someone important, and perhaps to change their future destiny."
The Archbishop took a deep breath, "If only someone back then had been as determined as you are. I will tell you what I know. But you must promise me that this truth will only be used for just causes."
Qiao Suisui nodded earnestly, "I promise."

Meanwhile, on the distant other side. The Interstellar Strategy Academy.
Anubis ran swiftly towards Dr. Li's office. When he arrived at the door, he came to an abrupt stop. Adjusting his breath nervously, his hand shook slightly as he grasped the doorknob.
The next moment, the door was opened from the inside.
"What are you doing standing there? Come in, quickly." Dr. Li's brows could not hide his joy as he pulled Anubis in, stepping aside to reveal the middle-aged man standing quietly by the window.
Suppressing the excitement in his heart, Anubis called out from his throat, mixing joy and concern in his voice—
"Father."
What do you think?
