Chapter 290: Chapter 5 A Day in the Life of President Qiao (Part 5) Chapter 290: Chapter 5 A Day in the Life of President Qiao (Part 5) Qiao Suisui decided to ignore the friend request.
Then she quickly replied to several work-related inquiries and asked her secretary for today’s work schedule before she finally got out of bed to shower, do her makeup, and get ready to go out. Just before leaving, she grabbed some leftover bread and milk from the refrigerator, took a few bites to tide herself over, then hastily picked up her car keys and headed out.
All morning, Sang Yan watched her rushing about barefoot, back and forth, eating food directly from the refrigerator, with his brows tightly furrowed. But no matter what he said or even if he touched Qiao Suisui, she didn’t seem to notice.
Sang Yan ended up riding in the car with her.
That was fine, as it allowed him to understand Suisui’s life and what she did when she wasn’t in their world.
But everything he saw was utterly at odds with what he had imagined.
From the morning upon arriving at the company, Qiao Suisui had been in meetings nonstop, first a large meeting, then smaller ones, busy until one o’clock without a bite to eat. Then she rushed off to meet with two downstream partners, talking until four-thirty when she finally ate half a sandwich in the car while conducting an online meeting. Meanwhile, calls kept coming in, asking her, “President Qiao, this plan needs your approval ASAP,” “President Qiao, is this channel okay?” “President Qiao, President Ye’s team says they’ll go live later; there’s a technical issue, what do you think…”
Sang Yan couldn’t understand their technical jargon, but in the midst of this immense, intangible field of force, he started to feel fidgety and even experienced pressure. It was hard to say exactly which task or phrase triggered this feeling; it was more like someone being overwhelmed by dealing with four or five matters simultaneously.
Yet Qiao Suisui responded to each of them calmly, made judgments swiftly, firmly turned down unreasonable demands, and provided affirmation and encouragement to employees who were not confident. In this process, not only did she offer concrete solutions and proposals, but she also took care of the emotions of some people, a quality very few managers possess.
Suddenly, Sang Yan felt guilty. He was right there beside her, yet he couldn’t do anything.
What do you think?
