Chapter 599: 408: Elf Elder and the Hidden Royal Court

Chapter 599: Chapter 408: Elf Elder and the Hidden Royal Court

Acot City, Elf Station,

Lis watched the elderly Elf walk in with curiosity.

He was dressed in a platinum-colored robe that seemed to pour down like moonlight, clearly crafted from the finest materials and enhanced with high-level enchantment, equivalent to high-level magic equipment.

The Elf elder’s face was covered with wrinkles, deeply etched into his skin like ancient tree bark, documenting the vicissitudes of the ages. His golden hair, meticulously groomed, cascaded down his back, and his golden eyes were full of the traces left by time.

Elves are a long-lived race, and such an Elf had lived through countless years and was nearing the end of his life.

Typically, Elves of this age would stay deep in the Elf Forest, quietly waiting for the end to come, waiting for their souls to ascend to the realm of the Elf Gods,

Yet this incoming Elf Elder, despite his age, moved with steady steps, radiating a profound magical aura.

He was also a Gold-Level Mage and not weak in power, though not as strong as the previously encountered Cendelle Baldivia.

Lis had an understanding and stood aside without speaking.

Upon seeing the Elf Elder enter, Cecil quickly got up and bowed deeply.

“Elder, good health to you!”

The Elf Elder also noticed Cecil, slightly frowned, looking somewhat displeased but still spoke:

“You’re Cecil Alce, aren’t you? I didn’t expect you to arrive so quickly.”

He nodded toward Cecil and walked to the chair, preparing to sit down.

Just then, the Elf Elder noticed Lis standing behind Cecil and paused, startled.

“This is…”

The elderly Elf seemed unsure, his aged voice asking hesitantly.

“This is Lord Lis Kain, who protected me all the way from Nelin City to here.”

Seemingly recalling something, Cecil quickly added:

“Lord Lis once helped an Elf and hence received the blessing of Goddess Fenrir.”

“I see.”

The Elf Elder’s expression turned serious, he clenched his left fist and placed it over his chest, bowing slightly to Lis.

“Lord Lis, it is an honor to meet you here.”

“May the glory of Goddess Fenrir forever guard your path!”

“You are too kind.”

Lis was somewhat surprised but quickly responded, smiling,

“How may I address you?”

“I am Riccardo Illiser, welcome to our residence.”

Riccardo said, his stern, aged face breaking into a slight smile.

After some brief pleasantries, the three sat down on the armchairs, enjoying the delicacies that had been prepared.

Lis noticed Riccardo’s attitude towards him and had an inkling of what to expect.

Undoubtedly, Riccardo was an important member of the Illiser Sun Elf Family, a pureblooded Day Elf.

From Cecil’s previous experiences and Riccardo’s attitude upon entering, it was clear that the Illiser Family’s Sun Elves seemed quite traditional, somewhat like the old-fashioned among human nobles.

For this reason, despite much time having passed, their attitude towards Cecil was still quite poor.

Yet, at the same time, because of their reverence for the Elf Gods, their attitude towards Lis, who had the blessing of the Elf Goddess, was indeed quite favorable.

This contrast was becoming rather apparent.

Even Lis hadn’t anticipated this situation, but he didn’t mind; after all, it was beneficial to him, and he might be able to obtain more information about the Elf Royal Court.

“Elder Riccardo, may I know why I was summoned to Acot City?”

Cecil asked after sitting down.

This was a puzzling matter for her, wondering what had prompted the Illiser Family of the Sun Elves to such extraordinary lengths.

From the Moon Elf Daphne, whom she had encountered by chance, she learned that even the Elf Royal Court in Jonor City had been sealed off, which made Cecil increasingly uneasy.

Especially after she had been attacked by a Gold-level Assassin, Cecil’s fear grew more intense.

It was only because Lis had stayed by her side that she had begun to feel reassured.

Riccardo did not answer directly but looked towards Lis hesitantly.

This involved the secrets of their Illiser family, and even the Elf Royal Court, and despite Lis having the god’s recognition, he was still not entirely comfortable sharing the secrets with Lis.

Lis noticed Riccardo’s expression and would have left if it were any other matter, but not this one.

This was potentially closely tied to the destructive events involving the Elf Royal Court, and he couldn’t miss the chance to obtain follow-up information from Riccardo.

“I heard from Cecil that someone was targeting the Sun Elves for attacks. We also encountered a Gold-level Assassin in the Elf Forest who intended to assassinate Cecil, though I stopped them.”

“A Gold-level Assassin intended to assassinate Cecil?”

Riccardo’s expression changed abruptly, and forgetting everything else, he quickly turned to Cecil:

“You were attacked, by whom?”

Cecil, somewhat nervous, looked at Lis and didn’t speak.

“No, I killed that Gold-level Assassin, and he said nothing before his death.”

“Is that so?”

Upon hearing this, Riccardo’s face grew somber, as if he had recalled something significant.
