Chapter 122: Chapter 122: Just Expressing My Anger
Yuan Xi left the hospital, and it was already dark outside. She checked her phone and saw not a single message from Huo Shiyan.
Yuan Xi felt a heavy sensation in her heart, and her stomach growled. It had been a long time since she’d felt hunger.
For the past two months, Huo Shiyan was like an alarm clock, reminding her when to eat.
But he hadn’t asked if she had eaten all day today.
Yuan Xi leaned back in her car seat and rested for a while before driving back to her place at Jiangjing No.1.
Fortunately, the long-unoccupied house wasn’t dusty.
Yuan Xi searched the kitchen freezer for frozen dumplings, checked their expiration date, and then cooked some. After eating four or five, she couldn’t eat anymore.
Yuan Xi’s phone rang. She answered and saw it was Xiao Shihuo, “Sister, it’s so late. Haven’t you come back?”
Yuan Xi replied, “Sister won’t come home tonight. Be good and go to sleep early.”
Xiao Shihuo said, “Oh, bye Sister.”
…
At eleven o’clock at night, Huo Shiyan finally finished his meeting.
When Huo Shiyan went to the bedroom, he didn’t turn on the light, fearing he might wake Yuan Xi.
Only after lying down did Huo Shiyan realize something was off. He turned on the bedside soft light and saw no sign of Yuan Xi beside him.
Huo Shiyan immediately called Yuan Xi’s bodyguard and learned that after visiting Gu Hanchen, she had gone to stay at Jiangjing No.1. Huo Shiyan frowned.
Huo Shiyan got up and drove to Jiangjing No.1, but the security stopped him outside. It took a great effort and registration just to get inside.
Just as Yuan Xi had lain down, she heard the doorbell ring.
Jiangjing No.1 had strict security. Back when Yuan Xi bought what was referred to as a slum property in a wealthy area, it was because she, living alone, needed better security. Logically, there shouldn’t be a doorbell sound without a message from the butler.
Yuan Xi opened the surveillance on her phone and saw Huo Shiyan knocking on the door.
Yuan Xi then got up to open the door.
As soon as she did, Yuan Xi was enveloped in Huo Shiyan’s arms, pressed against the door.
Before Yuan Xi could say anything, Huo Shiyan’s kiss fell.
“Um…”
Huo Shiyan held Yuan Xi like a child, and frightened, she clung tightly to Huo Shiyan’s neck, “Shiyan.”
After Huo Shiyan carried Yuan Xi into the bedroom, he bent down and kissed her lips again, leaving her no chance to speak.
Yuan Xi felt a sudden rise in temperature, and despite the air conditioning, she broke out into a light sweat.
An hour later, Yuan Xi trembled slightly in Huo Shiyan’s arms.
Huo Shiyan gripped Yuan Xi’s hand tightly, “Why didn’t you come home?”
“This is my home too,” Yuan Xi replied. “Going back means a cold war with you, no need for that.”
“Who is having a cold war with you?” Huo Shiyan said.
Yuan Xi looked at Huo Shiyan, “You are not giving me the cold-shoulder?”
Huo Shiyan shook his head, “No.”
Yuan Xi asked, “Then why didn’t you peel shrimp for me, didn’t drive me to work this morning? You didn’t send a single message all day?”
Huo Shiyan replied, “I was just showing that I was angry.”
Yuan Xi frowned, “Angry? What are you angry about?”
Huo Shiyan retorted, “You tell me what I’m angry about?”
“I don’t know why you are angry.”
Huo Shiyan held Yuan Xi’s hand and said, “Why did you only buy clothes for Shihuo and not for me?”
Yuan Xi hadn’t anticipated that this was why Huo Shiyan was angry, “Don’t you have clothes from Fu Qin?”
Huo Shiyan said, “I’ve already told you that I don’t like her designs; I wish you would buy clothes for me.”
Yuan Xi replied, “I actually quite like Fu Qin’s designs. If you don’t like her designs, the clothes I buy for you will probably be of the same type. What will you do if you don’t like them?”
Huo Shiyan said, “As long as you buy them for me, no matter the style, I’ll like them.”
Yuan Xi looked into Huo Shiyan’s eyes, he was actually angry because she hadn’t bought him clothes.
Yuan Xi chuckled lightly: “I didn’t expect you to be even more childish than Gu Hanchen. Why didn’t you just tell me the reason for your anger? I would never have guessed that you’d be childish enough to get angry because I didn’t buy you clothes.”
Huo Shiyan said, “Didn’t you also not say anything? The night before last, after Xiao Shihuo threw a tantrum wanting ice cream, you were clearly angry too but you didn’t say anything.”
Yuan Xi leaned into Huo Shiyan’s embrace, looking up at him, “I wasn’t really angry, just your remark about ‘a kind mother having a spoiled child’ made me anxious.”
“We may have played together as children, but my life and your life are completely different. I never thought about how exceptional my children need to be. I just want them to grow up healthy and happy, but you are different; you say that Huo Family’s children must meet high standards.”
Yuan Xi sighed, “I don’t want to be a strict mother or let my children grow up under high pressure from you, and I don’t want them to face immense pressure from making three mistakes on the piano.
But I’m also scared of my children failing when they grow up, and you attributing it to ‘a kind mother spoils her children.'”
Huo Shiyan tightened his embrace around Yuan Xi, moving away the stray hair on her forehead, “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said ‘a kind mother spoils her children.’ Going forward, our child’s education will certainly put their happiness first, and you don’t have to worry.
“In the future, my approach to teaching our children will take their feelings into account first. I won’t be too harsh on them, and no matter how they turn out, you’ll always be the best mother.”
Yuan Xi was very sleepy, listening to Huo Shiyan’s words, she fell asleep in his arms.
In the morning, Yuan Xi woke up in the familiar room.
The memories of last night flooded back, and she turned over to see Huo Shiyan, thinking about how he had been upset because she hadn’t bought him clothes, she lightly smiled.
Huo Shiyan heard Yuan Xi laughing, he opened his eyes, “I dirtied my clothes from yesterday. I have nothing to wear.”
Yuan Xi said, “Gu Hanchen’s house isn’t far from here. I can go and get some clothes from his place for you to wear.”
Huo Shiyan disdainfully said, “I won’t wear someone else’s clothes.”
Yuan Xi suggested, “What about asking Qin Lang to bring you some?”
“Qin Lang has the day off today.”
Yuan Xi was surprised, “Assistant Qin actually has a day off?”
Huo Shiyan nodded, “Yeah, so go buy me an outfit and come back here. I’ll wait for you.”
Yuan Xi checked the time, “This early? Where would you find a clothing store open now? Why not wear yesterday’s clothes from the dryer until the stores open, and then I’ll go shopping with you?”
Huo Shiyan replied, “Okay.”
After Yuan Xi got up, she went through her closet, finding only two dresses that still fit her. At nearly four months pregnant, it was becoming obvious, and the zippers on her old pencil skirts wouldn’t even close.
Once Huo Shiyan’s clothes were dry, they headed to the office.
Just as they arrived downstairs at the office, a girl approached Yuan Xi, “Chairman Yuan! Chairman Yuan!”
Yuan Xi looked at the girl who was stopped by the security guard and gestured for them to let her through. “What is it?”
“Chairman Yuan, I’m the intern who emailed you yesterday. My name is Li Ni. Here, I have evidence of Yan Lingling and Wu Liang stealing interns’ drawings and heavily using AI to create art.”
Yuan Xi looked at the girl in front of her, “Li, go wait for me in the small conference room on the 48th floor. I’ll be there shortly.”
Yuan Xi and Huo Shiyan rode the executive elevator, and she said to Huo Shiyan, “Wu Liang and Yan Lingling have both been with Mi Chen for ages, and they’ve been instrumental to ‘Fall in Love with the Stars.’ This accusation from an intern is actually quite tricky.
Stealing and appropriating interns’ work and using AI in drawing could bring significant negative consequences for the company. According to the company’s policies, they should be fired.
But being the pioneering employees and possibly the biggest contributors to ‘Fall in Love with the Stars,’ firing them over AI drawing and plagiarism seems somewhat harsh.”
What do you think?
