Chapter 383: The Plant Nursery Without Rain
*Step step step…* Su Bai and the others stepped out of the cement house and began walking towards the wooden shed, each of them holding an umbrella.
*Pitter patter…*
*Drip drip…*
The rain continued to fall from the sky, making dull sounds as it hit the umbrellas and clear sounds as it fell on the ground.
Co Co kept looking up curiously, her face full of surprise. "This thing… what is this thing?"
It was her first time seeing such an object. This oddly shaped thing could somehow prevent them from getting wet in the rain.
Moreover, this object seemed very convenient – they just needed to hold it in their hand, and the area it covered was quite large, eliminating any worry about getting wet when they were under it.
"This is an umbrella, one of the Shaman’s ideas," Yan Hua explained from the side.
She too loved the umbrella. Though she rarely used it since she usually wore rainproof clothing during training.
Yu Ying, on the other hand, used it more frequently, carrying it when going to the bathroom or to the greenhouse."Umbrella?" Co Co furrowed her brows, encountering yet another new term.
However, this object made her very curious, and her golden eyes kept darting back and forth, trying to understand exactly what this umbrella was.
Since waking up yesterday, Co Co had been like a curious child, wanting to know about all sorts of new and interesting things. She even wanted to understand how these things were made, hoping to learn how to make them herself.
"Yes, it’s something used on rainy days. Very few people have them." Yu Ying chimed in.
Co Co nodded thoughtfully, but her gaze remained fixed on the umbrella.
*Step step step…* They continued walking toward the greenhouse as rain kept falling from above.
Co Co noticed the tall buildings around them, and only then did she look back at where she had come from.
She was stunned by what she saw, exclaiming in shock. "This… what is this?"
She saw the four-story central building and the surrounding two-story cement houses.
There were more than ten buildings, all built with stone, which was simply… incredible.
Last night, due to darkness and the rain, she had only noticed the glass, not paying attention to the two-story cement houses outside.
"These are cement houses, they’re better at blocking off the wind." Yu Ying immediately explained.
Yu Ying had thought the others had noticed these houses earlier. She had not expected Co Co to only discover them now.
"Houses made of stone? Can stone houses be built this tall?" Co Co marvelled.
Although her memories were gone, these stone houses seemed contrary to what she believed possible.
How could stones be joined together and stacked so high? It simply did not make any sense.
"After the rainy season, we plan to build more cement houses." Yu Ying proudly said.
"So… so amazing." Co Co was beyond amazed; everything from last night until now seemed incredible to her.
Even without her memories, these things defied common sense.
She had not taken two steps when she noticed something else that was odd, and she suddenly stopped, looking down at where she stood.
"This… what is this?" Co Co saw that she was standing on a flat surface.
Where she stood had no puddles, and there was no uneven ground.
It was as if… as if she was standing on a stone block, but this stone was completely flat.
"This is a cement road, another one of the Shaman’s inventions. Made so we don’t get our feet dirty." Yu Ying explained.
Yu Ying loved to walk on the road, using it every time she went from the cement house to the greenhouse. Here, the road was very flat and wide, and they did not have to worry about getting their feet muddy. They also did not have to worry about sinking into mud after taking just a few steps.
"Cement road? What’s that?" Co Co’s brows were deeply furrowed.
She could not tell whether these were things she once knew or if they were all new.
Since last night, she had heard too many new terms, and they all seemed foreign to her. She did not know if she had truly never seen these before, or if they might be part of her lost memories.
But it did not make sense. She still remembered things like wooden houses, fire pits, and hay piles, but had no memory of glass, umbrellas, or cement roads.
On second thought, she began to feel these things must be unrelated to her memories. Otherwise, she would not have forgotten such basic things.
Su Bai saw her frowning constantly, occasionally holding her head, and he softly said: "Don’t think too much about it, these are all things that are not in your lost memories."
He was certain because he knew Primitive Tribes could not possibly have such inventions yet.
These items were products of his civilization back on Earth. It was currently impossible for Primitive Tribes to create them.
"En…" Co Co slowly lowered her hand, no longer wanting to think about it anymore.
*Step step step…*
Su Bai and the others walked to the greenhouse, and everyone folded their umbrellas as they entered.
Upon entering, they could feel the warmth hitting their faces, as the temperature inside was higher than outside.
Of course, since it was not the snow season, the temperature difference was not too high, and they would ventilate it regularly. This ensured the temperature inside would not get too high, or the plants would die from the heat, wasting all their efforts.
"Not bad." Su Bai nodded in satisfaction.
The greenhouse was now lush with greenery, with plants visible everywhere, including tomatoes, wheat, sweet potatoes, and various medicinal herbs.
"This… where is this?" Co Co looked around in amazement.
It was her first time seeing a… plant nursery without rain when they were still in the rainy season. Furthermore, there were so many green plants inside.
"This is a greenhouse, used for growing the things we eat." Su Bai said, bending down to check the tomatoes that had grown quite tall.
"Greenhouse? Growing?" Co Co was getting overwhelmed by these complex terms.
"Yes, it makes things more convenient." Su Bai did not say much more, as the blonde girl’s background was still unknown. It was unwise to share too much with someone of an unknown background.
Co Co crouched down to look at the crops, asking, puzzle,: "These are all edible?"
She was confused. [Aren’t these just roadside weeds? Why are they being protected like this?]
"Of course," Su Bai nodded.
What do you think?
