Chapter 257: The Black God (2)
Golden light illuminated half of the world.
A dark shadow stood on the opposite side, dyeing everything black.
The Light Dragon, a dragon who controlled light, looked around with majestic eyes.
The Spirit Dragon rolled its eyes, unsure of what to do.
Fafnir, the Evil Dragon, held its breath.
‘Why are they here?’
Why did those creatures appear? It did not know.
However, that human, or rather, that human who was undoubtedly of dragon lineage, used the dragon’s language.
It was the language for calling dragons, a power that could summon dragons by twisting the laws of the world with willpower.
And… three dragons responded to that call.Half the world glittered in gold.
The other half was engulfed by shadows.
This was merely to attract attention with their splendor. It was to distract and hide another presence.
To hide another dragon.
Realizing this, Fafnir looked at the Priest of the Black Sun.
‘I must summon an Apostle immediately.’
At the very least, he needed to summon an Apostle to even the odds.
The Light Dragon and the Spirit Dragon. Those two boasted an almost invincible power when it came to facing multiple foes.
Moreover, he didn’t even know what kind of dragon that human-shaped one was.
While he had gained many things by receiving the power of the Evil God, he had also lost much.
That’s why he could barely sense the presence.
‘A giant dragon?’
Somehow, he felt the presence of a being that should never be caught.
The Priest of the Black Sun looked around the world.
Darkness and light illuminated and consumed everything, marking their territory like an Apostle.
Dragons showed off their power in such ways.
‘How foolish.’
Dragons loved to show off.
That’s why they acted like this even in battles.
It’s just a waste of power.
The Priest raised its tentacles. Hundreds of tentacles rose into the sky, then struck down.
A light exercise of power.
Here, the power of the Evil God was embedded. Death that could destroy the world descended upon the tentacles.
“How crude.”
“Th-that must be an overuse of power, a real punk.”
The Light Dragon picked up a spear.
The Spirit Dragon held a sword.
The Light Dragon pouted.
The Apostle’s attack was sparse. He didn’t know what’s happening in the outer realm, but one of the Apostles died.
He remembered it being quite a nuisance. It wasn’t particularly powerful in combat due to its use of illusions, but it was very troublesome.
With his death, the Apostles hesitated.
He felt a portion of his sealed authority return.
‘It’s been a while.’
He twirled the spear around.
The holy light resided in the spear.
‘Maybe I’ll show off a bit in front of the youngest.’
Light radiated out.
Holy light was released towards the tentacles covered with death.
The Priest of the Black Sun was enraged by this sight.
The power given by the Black Sun, indeed comparable to an Apostle’s.
They dared to confront it head-on?
The Priest moved.
To charge the dragon race with the crime of arrogance for daring to oppose this power.
Kkiriirik.
The tentacles swelled greatly. Death was excessively infused. Like muscle fibers amplified dozens of times, they punched out in a bulging form.
“Oh my.”
The Light Dragon, Geum Bit-na, looked surprised for a moment, then wore a bored expression.
That was an overuse of the Apostle’s power.
It was nothing but brute force. Geum Bit-na swung her spear.
Hwak!
A flash of light resided in the spear, turning into magic.
The dragon’s power was imbued within it.
The power to distort the laws of the world.
Sseuguk.
The golden light cut through the fist.
-What?
Flash.
At the same time, there was a flash of light.
Geum Bit-na moved in front of the Priest at the speed of light.
-When… did you…
In a slowed-down cognitive space.
At the speed of light, Geum Bit-na delivered a kick.
Tung.
There was a light sound, and then:
Puhak!
The Priest’s head flew off at the speed of light.
“How can dragons…”
Sigurd looked at me in surprise.
“Wow, you’re full of abilities. Or should I say, you’re loved by dragons?”
Merlin approached me with a cheeky smile.
“With that, you might even beat an Apostle.”
“That’s not likely.”
An increasingly ominous feeling was stimulating my senses.
Fortunately, the dragons weren’t moving easily either.
The Light Dragon was fighting the Priest of the Black Sun but was clearly reserving some strength.
The Spirit Dragon was watching the surroundings, providing help as necessary.
The Illusion Dragon was checking the Apostle’s location.
-This is kind of dangerous.
‘Is it dangerous?’
-Yeah.
The Illusion Dragon spoke in a firm voice.
-The Black Sun is a lower entity among the Evil Gods. It was gaining power by taking in the Nazi Empire.
‘A lower entity?’
-Yes. For it to have such power, it’s too ‘large’ for a lower Evil God’s authority.
‘Large?’
-Yes. Simply put, it’s an authority that shouldn’t be able to be exercised. This might not just be the Apostle’s issue…
While saying this, the Illusion Dragon bent the space.
-But don’t worry. If nothing else, I can save the youngest.
‘…’
The Black Sun.
One of the Evil Gods, and its power was clearly in the upper ranks.
Thus, I didn’t think much of it as strange. If it’s the power of the Black Sun, it could do that.
‘If.’
A possibility crossed my mind.
However, this was too much of a leap.
No, if you thought about it that way, it kind of fits with what has happened so far.
I closed my eyes to clear my thoughts.
That’s not what’s important right now.
“Can we handle the dragons?”
Sigurd approached.
“The Fission Dragon?”
“Yes. To break the final seal on this sword, we need the blood of an Evil Dragon.”
Sigurd pointed to the sword held by Kim Seo-hyun.
“Seal?”
“It’s because of the tradition of the Sword of Wrath, Gram. If Gram is soaked in dragon blood, both the dragon-slaying attribute and the magic-killing attribute become stronger. It’s more of an enhancement than a seal.”
“Ahh.”
Kim Seo-hyun nodded at my explanation.
“I’ll talk to them.”
Kim Seo-hyun and Sigurd went to kill the Fission Dragon. The Spirit Dragon was keeping a close watch, so it should be fine.
“So, what do we do now?”
The Heavenly Demon approached me.
“The tastiest-looking thing here seems to be either the dragon or that which has received the Apostle’s power…”
The Light Dragon was fighting with the Priest of the Black Sun, who had received the Apostle’s power.
The Priest seemed to be overwhelmingly losing. I wanted to tell her to block even the Black Mountain Goats, but sheer numbers weren’t the Heavenly Demon’s taste.
I observed the battlefield.
The battlefield was extremely favorable.
The Priest of the Black Sun couldn’t use his power.
His legions, magic soldiers, the Evil Dragon, and the Black Mountain Goats.
They were being hunted down and killed in turn.
It was too advantageous.
However.
An ominous feeling that I couldn’t quite place was felt.
I looked at Seo Ga-yeon from afar. She was simply casting the magic of starlight like a spear. The moment the spear touched the magic soldiers, it burst, scattering fragments everywhere.
Magic with no power, but faithful to its area.
A technique only to be used against overwhelmingly lower-ranked opponents.
However, when it met Seo Ga-yeon, the Mines began to melt.
She seemed fine over there.
I turned my attention to another part of the battlefield.
Seolhwa Ryeon was fighting hard.
With her talent to freeze everything, she was taking down her subordinates one by one.
Using the power of the encroaching shadows.
She encroached with shadows.
And completely froze her enemies.
The sight was quite impressive.
She was marking the enemies with shadows and then unleashing her freezing talent at those points.
“Huuh.”
Seolhwa Ryeon took a quiet deep breath.
“How is it, Elder?”
“…You’re amazing.”
The term “Elder” still felt awkward.
Nevertheless, Seolhwa Ryeon smiled brightly at my praise.
“But this fight seems too easy.”
“Huh?”
“Our forces are overwhelmingly superior. Everyone is holding back their strength.”
Seolhwa Ryeon’s gaze went to the dragon.
Fafnir, the Evil Dragon.
Sigurd and Kim Seo-hyun were methodically killing those dragons split into hundreds of units.
The Black Mountain Goats were being taken down whenever the Spirit Dragon found the time.
The legions floating in the sky were being blocked by the Heavenly Demon.
The other heroes were dealing with the magic soldiers.
Yet, everyone had some leeway.
The Priest of the Black Sun was bewildered.
Thud.
The sound of something falling was heard.
One more goat fell.
The numbers had clearly decreased.
And the ominous feeling grew more intense.
-Get ready, Master.
Suddenly, Black Heaven appeared.
At the same time, the Black Heavenly Demon Sword was emitting black light.
I looked at Black Heaven and then at the Black Heavenly Demon Sword.
I felt nothing.
‘What is it?’
Something was felt.
The Energy of Defying Heaven. And a power like a pitch-black abyss.
…The power of the Black God.
-It’s coming soon.
Black Heaven spoke while looking at the sky.
I looked up at the sky.
“Elder…?”
Noticing my behavior, Seolhwa Ryeon also looked up at the sky.
And was taken aback.
“The sky…?”
The sky had lowered.
More than when we first saw it.
The black shining sun seemed larger, as if it was about to illuminate the world.
And then.
Without any warning, it revealed itself.
It was a massive entity in the form of an angel.
A smooth head. No facial features. It had the form of a human, with huge wings behind it.
A life form made of gigantic tentacles.
With the Black Sun mounted on its head, it showed itself.
-I have arrived.
Speaking in the language of spirits.
-Now, I will purge the heretics who do not believe in the God of Life.
Behind the Black Sun, countless spears of death were created, covering the entire black sky.
-…You.
It looked at me.
A face devoid of emotion, yet it looked at me with clear bewilderment.
What do you think?
