I Become Master of Danger Zones as Incubus With Mastery In Genetic

Chapter 659 79

After a nice sleep, this time on a real bed, in a nice inn, Ardent was ready to continue his exploration of the City.

Looking around the busy streets, he realized something he had missed before.

'Not only are there a street selling Magic tools specifically, but also those that sell Magic scrolls, potions, and more.' not to mention, for each type of items, there are a dedicated street for them.

As Ardent looked around like a child in a candy store, to use the analogy of his previous world, the street vendors and civilians shook their heads in amusement.

"He must be a newcomer. Probably a youngling from the village or towns."

"Yeah, or someone even further from that. He looked like he is in his fourteenth birthday."

"Whoever he is, I will never get tired of such reaction."

Ardent ignored the talking people, instead looking at different wares that caught his eyes. Of course, with the amount of coins he carried with him, which is not much, he could not hope to buy anything.

Even if he brought coins he 'borrowed' from Cruom City, he will not be able to buy anything as the design of the Main City's coins differ, even if the dimension, metal of creation and weight is the same.

It's both to ease up trades between territories of the Main Cities while able to cut of any trades with potential enemies. It mean he can use it, but there will be question why a teen like him have so many coins from Cruom City. Question he did not want to answer if he wished to remain somewhat incognito, with his disguise as an inexperience youngling from a nearby town remained.

As Ardent continued his tri- exploration, the guards were moved, to the wariness of the civilians.

"What's going on?"

"I don't know, but I think it's serious."

"Yeah. A lot of guards had been moving around since yesterday."

"What do you think this is all about?"

"Maybe a dangerous person is lose inside the City?"

"Hey! Don't say something so scary!"

"What, you scared?"

"As if. Well, I'm scared of being caught in the crossfire. After all, the City have the greatest defense."

As the people talked, it did not escape Ardent's attention who use the wind as subtle as he could to hear what the people were talking about.

'The guards had been moving? And since yesterday.' Ardent did not believe it just a coincidence.

'Did they found out about me?' If he can shook his head without appearing like a loon or a criminal, he would have done so.

'No. They don't know about me exactly. They just now that someone powerful is inside the City, trespassing into their territory.' Ardent assumed.

As he did not know if his assumptions is correct (it is), he did not know what the correct move would be. From the look of things, the guards seem to be in possession of a Magic tool that can detect his presence, or at least his Mana reserve or something similar.

It likely allow them to differentiate between low-Circle Mage to high-Circle Mage, allowing them to give priority to the latter.

However, it's all assumption, one he cannot prove, at least without it being too late for him to not get caught.

'What should I do? Going out would get me caught faster but staying inside might mean I get caught eventually.' of course, he can keep evading the guards, but who know how long he can do that.

Even with Magic to detect their movement and create their patrol patterns, he likely slip up. Plus, using Magic would likely get him detected faster.

'I just need to go with the flow. If things get heated, I can always brute force my way out.' Ardent decided to go on the silent route, patiently waiting as he try to find a way out.

And if that fail, well, he is a 5th Circle Mage. He can easily break through any defenses created by the City.

'Well, to living in constant fear of getting caught.' truly, a good way to spend his time in a foreign City.

For the next few days, Ardent continued his exploration, though his movement subdued, pretending to be a teen scared by the movement of the guards.

The good news is everyone else acted the same, not one person wishing to earn the guards' attention. The other good news is the inns decided to lower the cost of meals and rooms, reacting accordingly to the possibility of their patron inability to do their business in such heated time.

Ardent was glad for the thoughtfulness, as he had been worrying over his money and his inability to hunt. And he could not go out as he will be caught by the guards, with the City using the gates as chokepoint to find him, if he is truly their target.@@novelbin@@

Even if he flew away, well, he still be caught, the walls likely armed with the same Magic tools the gate guards would have.

'I should probably find jobs to pay for the meal.' the cost of living lowered, he still need to pay for his time inside the City.

'Hopefully, there is a job I can take. Maybe I even ask the innkeeper for a job.' It's the best place to start, in his opinion.

As Ardent started to job hunt, the one behind the movement of the guards let out a sigh.

"Still no sign of the Mage?" City Lord Krell asked. Council Member Pran and Council Member Jarrus shook their heads. Even after all this time, they still don't found the culprit.

The Council had already test the Magic tool that detect the Mage, and it worked as intended. Even detecting a being equal to a 5th Circle Mage located near one of the towns, one that never left it domain. Which is a good thing as it will lead to a lot of death.
