Chapter 178: Chapter 178: Where Do You Think You’re Escaping To?

“A wedding?” Su Zixi suddenly found it hard to breathe, “Isn’t that unnecessary? We…”

“Oh, what’s with us?” He narrowed his eyes slightly, his gaze carrying a hint of warning. @@novelbin@@

“Let’s wait until I graduate,” said Su Zixi, her ears turning slightly red, “It’s too early now, and too high-profile. I’m not used to it.” She couldn’t help but ask, “He Jingyao, have you really thought this through… is it truly me you want?”

He Jingyao’s gaze softened, and he chuckled softly, “Isn’t it obvious enough?”

Looking into his deep eyes, Su Zixi had a question swirling in her throat: If you had a choice, would you choose me again?

Yet, she couldn’t ask it; she was terrified of hearing an answer she didn’t want to hear.

“Mm,” Su Zixi finally responded softly, “But let’s talk about the wedding later, it feels too soon.”

Li Bo added with a smile, “It takes at least a year or more to prepare for a wedding; if we start now, the timing is just right.”

“Mm, that’s fine,” agreed He Jingyao contentedly.

Su Zixi breathed a sigh of relief.

He Jingyao watched her, his pupils unusually dark. She might as well have written “I’m troubled” across her face; this woman didn’t even know how to conceal her emotions.

It didn’t matter if she didn’t say it; he had almost endless patience for her.

But there were some things for which his patience had long run out. At this thought, his gaze turned scorching.

Preoccupied with heavy thoughts, Su Zixi didn’t notice; she simply nodded, “Jingyao, I’ll go back to work first.”

“Okay,” the man smiled and nodded.

Su Zixi forced herself to focus on her work so as not to dwell on the matters that troubled her.

Evening came quickly.

When Su Zixi left her room to go downstairs for dinner, Li Bo informed her that He Jingyao had gone out, leaving her alone at the vast dining table.

She had little appetite, forcing down a bit before returning to her room to finish the remaining work. Then, dressing in pajamas, she headed to the bathroom to take a shower.

Suddenly remembering the blackout from last time, the heaviness in her heart lifted slightly, and she couldn’t help but curve her lips into a smile.

After her shower, Su Zixi stepped out of the bathroom in her pajamas, toweling her hair and heading towards the vanity. Out of the corner of her eye, however, she caught sight of a dark figure.

Startled, she took a closer look and involuntarily exclaimed, “Jingyao?”

The man turned around, his pitch-black gaze resting on her. After a long while, he slowly curved his lips into a devastatingly sexy smile.

“Finished showering?” he asked with a smile.

Su Zixi nodded mutely, then watched as He Jingyao took deliberate steps towards her.

Her heart suddenly began to race, and she involuntarily… took a step back.

But He Jingyao was quicker, pulling her into his arms, “Where do you think you’re going?”

His voice was unusually hoarse, and his eyes so deep they seemed as though they might swallow her whole…

It was then Su Zixi remembered that just yesterday, she had promised today…

Her body began to tremble involuntarily, “I wasn’t planning to run…”

“Mm…” He chuckled softly, lifting her sideways into his arms, and carried her straight to the bed.

The man lay on top of her, their fingers entwined.

Su Zixi’s breathing grew more rapid, her chest rising and falling. Her eyelashes trembled violently from nervousness…

Her pajamas were thin, the exposed collarbones delicate and beautiful, igniting flames within the man’s gaze almost instantaneously.
