Chapter 195: His Betrayal
Chapter 195: Chapter 195: His Betrayal
Yun Xuefei watched as the sky gradually darkened.
She didn’t know how long had passed when Huo Yanzhao walked in, step by step, until he was in front of her, kneeling on one knee, steadying her shoulders.
“Xuefei,” his voice was hoarse, his face extremely haggard. In just a few hours, his stubble had emerged.
Yun Xuefei stared at him as if he were a stranger.
“Xuefei, it’s time to eat,” Huo Yanzhao said with a hoarse laugh, “you can hate me or blame me, but don’t punish yourself…”
Yun Xuefei remained silent.
...
Huo Yanzhao caught her hand and placed it on his chest: “I had the kitchen make some soup. Would you drink a little, please?”
Yun Xuefei’s eyelashes trembled, and suddenly she withdrew her hand.
She pushed him away and stood up shakingly, walking out. Huo Yanzhao followed her, watching her stagger. Several times he reached out to support her, but she pushed him away without hesitation. @@novelbin@@
Huo Yanzhao’s smile grew more bitter.
Yun Xuefei went to the kitchen, sitting at the dining table, slowly sipping the soup. Huo Yanzhao sat opposite her, watching her pale cheeks, nearly breathless with heartache.
It was all his fault; he had caused all this.
After finishing the soup, Yun Xuefei seemed to regain some strength. She raised her head and finally spoke: “Yanzhao.”
“I’m here!” Huo Yanzhao suddenly grabbed her hand.
Yun Xuefei tried to pull her hand back, but failed. She lowered her eyes and said softly, “Don’t do anything to that woman. Even if she has ill intentions, she doesn’t deserve to die. You don’t need to get bloody over this.”
“Xuefei, I…” he said with a bitter laugh, eventually nodding, “Okay, I promise you.”
“She said she’s pregnant, is that true?” Yun Xuefei asked softly.
“…Yes.” Now that things had come this far, Huo Yanzhao didn’t try to hide anything. “I found her medical records this afternoon, but I’m not sure if those records are genuine, and I’m even less sure if the child is mine…”
As he spoke, he forced a smile, seemingly to lighten the mood: “You know, I’m not that valiant…”
“Stop talking…” Yun Xuefei closed her eyes, feeling as if her strength was draining again, “Yanzhao, let’s separate for a few days. I’ll go home.”
“Xuefei!” His face turned pale instantly.
“Let me clear my head…” she said almost breathlessly.
“No, if someone must go, it will be me,” Huo Yanzhao said hoarsely, “I’ll stay in the hospital for a few days… You must take care of yourself, and my phone will always be on for you.”
Yun Xuefei didn’t speak.
Huo Yanzhao leaned in trying to kiss her, but Yun Xuefei avoided him.
He gave a wry smile, swallowed hard, and ultimately said nothing as he stood and walked out of the dining room.
He instructed Mrs. Wu to take care of Xuefei, especially to remind her to eat on time, then put on his shoes and left.
“Sir, it’s so late. Is there an emergency?” Mrs. Wu asked in surprise.
Huo Yanzhao hummed softly, and as he pushed open the door, he turned to look back one more time. Yun Xuefei was still sitting there, her expression distant as if all her emotions were drained.
His gaze turned dark, and he ultimately turned and left.
Yun Xuefei heard the door close.
She covered her face with her hands, and tears that had been delayed for hours finally burst forth…
Huo Yanzhao, Huo Yanzhao…
She silently repeated his name in her heart, feeling as if her heart were being twisted by knives.
How could she bear to separate from him? But she was equally aware that his betrayal would leave a permanent scar in her heart…
What do you think?
