Chapter 176 Borders Of Slveryin Continent
The alarms of Sylvalis Elven Kingdom blared across the treetops, reverberating through the dense forest canopy.
The sky, still fractured from Melanthis' escape, shimmered with unnatural darkness, a mark of the calamity August had unwittingly unleashed.
From all directions, elven guards, mages, and rangers surged forward, with righteous fury.
They weren't here to ask questions. They were here to execute. Find Melanthis and her companions and obliterate them before she regains her full power back.
August stood beside Sir Dumblore while scanning the surroundings. His cloak of echoes rustled slightly in the wind.

The Elven Kingdom of Sylvalis now considers you an enemy. Guards, elders, and powerful warriors will attack on sight.

August sighed upon noticing this notification; "A hero in Tagharium, but branded a devil in Sylvalis. Just my luck."
Sir Dumblore grunted. "I warned you, lad. Nothing good comes from meddling with the Elves."
August shot him a glare. "You were the one locked in chains, old man."
Dumblore raised an eyebrow. "Aye, and you could've left me there."
August rolled his eyes. "Right. Now how do we get out of here?"
A blast of wind magic suddenly hurtled toward them.
August grabbed Sir Dumblore by the arm and Phantom Blitzed backward, reappearing fifty feet away just in time to see a high-ranking elven elder step forward.
He was dressed in resplendent green robes with golden trims and his emerald eyes burned with wrath. His long silver hair was tied back and his pointed ears twitched with disdain.
Around him, other elven warriors stood ready with bows and swords drawn.
"Outsiders," the elder spat. "You've doomed our lands by releasing that wretched creature. Did you truly think you could escape retribution?"
Another elf who happened to be a high priestess, raised a glowing staff. "Surrender, and we may grant you a swift death."
Sir Dumblore nudged August. "They're not big on negotiations."
"No shit."

August glanced at their levels.

'Nope. Nope. Nope. I'm not fighting these fuckers!'
August and Sir Dumblore were so outclassed that fighting wasn't even a consideration.
Sir Dumblore grabbed August's arm. "There's another way out. We won't survive getting to the usual teleportation portal—it's too well-guarded."
August narrowed his eyes. "Then what's our option?"
The old forger hesitated. "The unstable rifts."
August blinked. "The what now?"
Before he could get an answer, the elves launched their attack.
A barrage of arrows and elemental spells rained down.
August threw up a tier 2 Arcane Barrier just in time to deflect an ice spear. But he could feel the pressure immediately—

August gritted his teeth.
The arcane Barrier was very powerful but it wasn't going to hold under the face of these relentless attacks because they were too powerful.
Sir Dumblore grabbed his wrist and yanked him backward. "No time to explain, lad. Run!"
The two of them bolted through the dense foliage, dashing between ancient tall trees. The Elven warriors pursued them relentlessly, leaping through the treetops as their arrows whistled through the air.
Sir Dumblore shouted between breaths. "The rifts are unpredictable! They could drop us anywhere in the world—or kill us outright. But it's better than dying here!"
August grimaced. "Yeah, it's great you left out that piece of information earlier, because that sounds way better!"
Ahead of them, four hundred feet away, the landscape shifted.
A section of the forest floor was split by swirling anomalies—unstable rifts in reality. The air around them howled violently, flickering like a distorted dream.
The ground cracked open, revealing pulsating voids of glowing blue and purple energy. Some of them imploded into nothingness, while others sent tendrils of distorted magic outward, consuming nearby trees.
It looked like pure chaos.

August barely had time to react before an explosion of vines surged toward them. The elven high priestess raised her hands. "You will not leave this land!"
The vines lashed forward, glowing with celestial power.
'No time left.'
Sir Dumblore grabbed August by the cloak and hurled both of them toward the rift.
They dove in instantly.
And the world shattered into a blur of chaos.
...
The sensation of drifting through the unstable rift was unlike anything August had ever experienced.
Reality itself felt twisted—shifting in and out of focus... warping like reflections on water.
They floated aimlessly, surrounded by countless fragments of broken landscapes, and shattered pieces of different worlds that had been caught in the swirling void.
Massive chunks of rock, ruins of ancient cities, and even strange, pulsating creatures moved through the rift's currents...
Some were being ripped apart by unseen forces as their remnants vanished into the abyss.

August's expression was one of astonishment as his body was pulled and stretched by the chaotic forces around them.
"This is getting real old, real fast!"
Beside him, Sir Dumblore grumbled, barely keeping himself together as his robes fluttered wildly in the turbulence.
"Quit whining, lad. You're not dead yet."
August scoffed, then quickly cast an Arcane Bubble—a protective sphere of glowing, translucent energy enveloped the two of them, shielding them from the worst of the rift's effects.

With the shimmering barrier in place, the howling winds muted, and the chaotic energy around them was reduced to a distant vibration.
Finally able to breathe, August leaned back and exhaled.
"Alright, we're in a bubble. Now what?"
Sir Dumblore rubbed his beard while glancing around at the fragmented space. "Now? We wait."
August shot him a look. "Wait for what? A sign from the gods?"
The old forger chuckled before adjusting his tattered sleeves. "Lad, sometimes life puts you in places where all you can do is be patient. Ain't no use fighting time itself."
August frowned but said nothing.
Minutes passed. Then hours—or at least what felt like hours in this endless drift.
With nothing but the hazy abyss stretching infinitely, August decided to ask something that had been bugging him.
"Back in the forge, the Silver Sentinel said a great calamity was coming. What did he mean?"
Sir Dumblore's expression darkened slightly. "You ask too many questions, lad."
"Yeah, well, I just risked my life saving you, so I think I deserve a few answers."
The old man let out a long breath as his eyes turned distant as if staring into the past. "The world isn't as stable as people believe, August. Long ago, there were things called Gates. Portals to places that should have never been touched. They were sealed away, locked for eternity… or so we thought."
August narrowed his eyes. "And now?"
Sir Dumblore's face turned serious. "Now, I fear they may reappear. The signs have returned. This is why I got set up by one of the Sylvalis Elven councils... They somewhat believe I will be responsible for it and by sealing me away in the hollow dusk it'll never happen."

August stiffened. "What exactly comes out of these Gates?"
Sir Dumblore hesitated before shaking his head. "You wouldn't understand even if I told you. Just know this—without the Five Heroes and their weapons, we're all doomed."
August still had a look of confusion on his face.
"And who are the five heroes?"
Sir Dumblore chuckled bitterly. "That, lad, is another question for another time."
August gritted his teeth. "You're really not gonna give me a straight answer, huh?"
"Nope."
"Figures."
Silence settled between them again.
Then suddenly—
A violent pull yanked at them.
The rift quaked and reality twisted once more. The bubble around them flickered as they were dragged toward an opening—a tear in space-time.

August grinned. "Oh, finally, something good!"
[ You Have Leveled Up! ]
Sir Dumblore snorted. "Don't celebrate yet, boy. We're still falling through the unknown."
Before August could respond, they were hurled through the rift's opening and tumbled forward—
Before crashing onto solid ground.
BOOM!
Dirt and debris flew into the air as they landed hard.
August rolled over while coughing as he shook the dust from his cloak. "Ugh. I swear, if I have to fall through one more damn portal—"
Then he froze.
The terrain around them was familiar.
A dense, ominous fog lingered in the air as the eerie darkness stretched out beyond the horizon, splitting the land apart like a scar across the planet.
What do you think?
