Chapter 302 Response
[Chapter 301 Comments.]
[Adam_Balch_7324: Bahahahaha seems like you have your hands full now]
[Keltic_Spirit: Pfffffff!!!! They are getting 10 times as daring now. You better bring your wife back soon or I fear these types of scenarios will spin out of control!]
…
Theo looked surprised. He had expected that Aurora and Haruka would do something, but he didn't expect this one.
Aurora even had a smug smile, as if showing how proud she was to have that sign.
Theo raised his head, finding Mia standing at the end of the corridor. "You are in this too?"
"Nope. You told me not to help anyone, so it must also include you too, Dad." Mia shrugged.
"Letting them in and not protecting our property is considered helping, you know?"
"Not if they managed to open the door themselves." Mia shook her head, her gaze shifting toward Haruka as if telling him that it was Haruka who did all this.
Theo pinched the bridge of his nose while saying, "Aren't elves supposed to have a very long lifespan? Your sense of time should be much different from ours. And currently, you're only 17 years old. For you, it should be similar to a human toddler, right?"
"What are you talking about? We do have a long lifespan, but we're still following the same flow. Only several… alright, a lot of things are ignored, so we aren't that busy compared to humans." Aurora pouted.
Theo shook his head helplessly. His head turned to Haruka. "And you too? I thought you were the last person who would do this."
"I'm sorry." Haruka lowered her head.
From her reaction alone, it was clear Aurora was the one dragging her into this.
Theo asked, "So do you use your familiar to unlock the door?"
"Hehehe. Of course!" Aurora patted her chest proudly while saying, "This genius plan was made by myself. I stopped Mia while Haruka took care of the rest. I learned it on the last mission."
That smug smile was basically asking Theo to praise her. Aurora even pointed at the sign as if telling Theo that the only way to praise her was to breed her.
Theo ignored her and said to Haruka, "You shouldn't get pushed around by others too much. If you want to continue, you should create a certain rule that will allow you to maintain your integrity. Right now, you're currently being influenced by me because you don't know about yourself."
"Ignored?" Aurora was taken aback. She slapped the sign a few times while pouting.
Theo sighed and took out his phone. "Anyway, I'm going to call the police first. I think it'll be a good idea to have you stay inside the cell for a night or two."
"What? Police?!" Aurora trembled. "How can you do this? Besides, if the police see us like this, they will believe us more, Teacher. What if I say that you are the ones trying to bring a few underage girls into your apartment?"
Theo flicked her forehead. "That's exactly what I'm warning you. I don't care if you're going to be a good person or even a bad person in the future. It is your path. However, I'm saying that you should create your own rules and limits."
"You taught us to be cunning."
"Better become an old cunning fox than a young spiteful snake." Theo pointed up.
Aurora raised her head and saw the CCTV. This whole time, they were being recorded.
"!!!" Aurora widened her eyes in shock. This CCTV was actually being integrated into the ceiling completely. It was hidden underneath a layer that gradually moved to the side, revealing the hidden CCTV.
Theo was implying that if they wanted to do that, he could use this. They believed it because Theo seemed to have everything to counter their plans.
Theo then turned to Haruka. "There's nothing instant. Even an instant noodle still needs steps before you can eat it."
"…" Haruka's head hung low. However, she soon raised it back up while saying, "I… I'm sorry for all the inconvenience. I know that we have crossed the limit. Even though this is only a test, there's a limit to someone's patience. If you want to punish someone, please just punish me."
"Haruka?" Aurora gasped.
"I want to win, but somehow… I don't know if I'll be happy taking someone's chance. I know that we're also competing with each other, but unlike Aurora, who wants to have the power to not repeat the same tragedy or prevent it from happening again for people… I just want power for my own selfish reasons. I don't think about how I will use my power in the future…" Haruka felt helpless.
She realized that the only reason she wanted power was to show her parents that she had gained something without their arrangements.
It was petty and selfish. It would be better for someone like Aurora to receive it.
"If you want to achieve something, whether it's love, friendship, or success, you need to take one step at a time." Theo patted both of their heads at the same time. "You are shaped by your experience, not your identities."
"!!!" Both Aurora and Haruka suddenly saw a flash of a person's life in their minds.
That person started at rock bottom. He had a hard time even feeding himself. However, he didn't give up. He took one chance after another, carefully making his decision. There were mistakes along the way, but he learned from them.
He faced numerous challenges and escaped death the whole time. Eventually, he faced a huge challenge that caused the deaths of ten billion people.
Those deaths plagued his heart, but the young man continued walking forward despite billions of bloody hands emerging from the ground, trying to drag him into the Abyss.
He caused the deaths of all those people, but he prevented the rest from going extinct due to their own mistakes. His action that day allowed future generations to flourish once again, away from the impending doom.
Eventually, that person became the number one person in that world. He, who once couldn't even feed himself properly, had finally reached the summit where he could look down on everything in the world. And he took one step at a time.
Aurora was completely stunned by what she had just seen. She didn't know who this guy was because Theo had changed it so that it didn't look like him.
Meanwhile, tears were streaming down Haruka's cheeks. She felt awful for even thinking about the instant step to changing her life.
Her characters, her behaviors, her rules, or even her goals would gradually be influenced by her experiences. Even if she wanted world destruction, she shouldn't gain the power to do that instantly.
On the way, she might find the good things in life and mature. What Theo wanted her to know was that even if she still wanted to do it after everything she experienced, that was her own path and decision, not an impulse because of just one thing. That decision didn't come in an instant.
In a sense, Haruka's relationship with her parents was similar to Theo's. Theo decided to forgive them after everything he experienced. What would Haruka do?
"Thank you… very much." Haruka closed her eyes. Experience tales with My Virtual Library Empire
What do you think?
