Chapter 30 - 30 030 in hand_1
Chapter 30: 030 in hand_1 Chapter 30: 030 in hand_1 A thick, purple wooden cane lay across his knees. The cane was decoratively topped with a golden eagle motif. The edges were inlaid with a Beimu, around which was a band of light silver Genshao leaves encircling the center of the eagle’s head. It appeared luxurious yet understated.
The overall thickness of the cane was roughly that of an adult man’s thumb.
Barely holding in his excitement, Casio first sat on the sofa and examined it carefully, playing with it for a while. He acted the part of an Antiques Lover. After admiring the cane and chatting with Matthew for about five or six minutes, he made an excuse to use the toilet so he could escape.
Along the rectangular carpeted corridor on both sides, there would be a copper wall lamp whenever there was a gap. The wall lamp emitted a soft yellow light, making the entire corridor quite warm and inviting.
Casio was now en route to the toilet. Seeing that there was no one around, he stretched out his hand and bit his thumb hard.
Instantly, a gaping wound, oozing fresh blood, appeared.
Lightly pressing his thumb against the cane, Casio suddenly felt a huge flow of cold air, like an octopus licking his wound. The next second, these streams of cold air crowded their way in. Casio’s entire right arm went numb.
From his arm, a bitterness began to spread all the way into his mouth. Accompanying this was an intense cold sensation.
It was June, the beginning of summer. But Casio felt as if he was in an ice cellar, his face was so numb that he was trembling a bit.
The sensation felt like swallowing a large piece of ice on a hot day—the cold chill goes straight to the brain, numbing the entire body.
Fortunately, the bitter and cold sensations came and went quickly.
In just a few seconds, Casio had finished absorbing these cold sensations, and no more icy cold air flowed from the cane.
He took a deep breath, his hand against the wall, and released a sigh. Looking up, he saw a series of numbers gradually appearing in his field of view.
‘Obsession Energy: 1.1’
As expected, the Obsession Energy contained in different antiques varies. I wonder what this intensity depends on…”
Casio rubbed the cane in his hand, muttering to himself.
Once again, he glanced at the right upper corner, above the display of Obsession Energy. The rune logo of the Wind Elephant Ivory Pendant hung alone at the top, with no other logos appearing next to it.
For example, a wooden cane topped with a golden eagle pattern.
Narrowing his eyes and sensing a little, Casio understood.
Not all Obsession Antiques can produce rune logos like the Wind Elephant Ivory Pendant. Most of them just possess Obsession Energy. In other words, there are actually two types of antiques.
First, Casio calls them Legendary Antiques.
For example, the Wind Elephant Ivory Pendant. Not only can this kind of antique contain Obsession Energy, but it also has the Obsession Node of its original owner, allowing Casio to engage in Retrospection cultivation. The original owner of the Wind Elephant Ivory Pendant, Li Wei, has three important nodes.
Youth Training Camp Incident, Sect Destruction War, and the Road of Revenge.
The second type, Casio calls them Obsession Antiques.
As the name suggests, there is only Obsession Energy in it, but no Obsession Node like Wind Elephant Ivory Pendant. For example, the purple wood cane he just completely absorbed only serves as a source of energy.
Coming back to reality, Casio looked down at his thumb, the wound had already scabbed over. He gave his right hand leaning on the wall a glance, there was a small bloody dot on the smooth and shiny wall. It was left when he himself leaned his right hand against the wall just now, the blood spot was very small, it should not be discovered.
Turning back, the sound of footsteps gradually spread towards the toilet.
Casio quickly washed his hands, and also cleaned the blood-stained cane. He turned around and took the same route back.
Stepping out of the corridor and into the villa’s hall, a foot stepped onto the marble floor and instantly stiffened. Casio clicked his tongue, glanced at the cane in his hand, then let out another click, realizing something instantly: “In addition to the purple cane, there are also Obsession Antiques in this villa!!!”
It’s no surprise that a rich businessman who owns several cross-market companies would have so many antique collections in his house! Today’s harvest was abundant…
At this unexpected gain, a genuine smile couldn’t help but spread across Casio’s face.
“Oh right, the reason I didn’t notice anything unusual when I walked from the living room just now was because I was still holding the purple cane. The bitterness of other distant Obsession Antiques was not noticeable compared to the close proximity bitterness the purple cane triggered.”
“Since I’ve sensed it, I can’t miss the chance. I only need the Obsession Energy inside. As long as that artifact is not a Legendary Antique, I can completely absorb the Obsession Energy inside and then put it back.” Casio thought to himself.
He then remembered that when he told Matthew earlier that he needed to use the toilet, he didn’t specify whether it was a pee or poop. If it was poop, it would be quite normal to delay in the toilet for a few minutes.
With that thought, Casio quickly scanned the environment.
Nobody around, not even the occasional wandering waitstaff.
He immediately walked into the center of the hall, looking for the source of the bitter taste with his tongue that was as sensitive as a search dog’s nose. The closer he got to the Obsession Antique, the more intense the bitterness in his mouth.
A couple of minutes went by, and he had roughly made a round of the entire hall. He was increasingly sure that the source was on the second or third floor.
On the right side of the hall was a spiral staircase. On one side was a rustic metal handrail ending with a spherical handle.
Casio looked up, lightly tapping his toe. Instantly, his body shot upward like an agile cheetah, with great speed. He reached the second-floor staircase in a matter of seconds.
And during this process, not a sound was made.
Truth be told, a practitioner of Secret Martial Art would never starve to death out of foolishness. Just the ability to control body muscles alone could turn one into a top-notch thief. Scaling walls and moving quietly are easy to achieve, and even if detected, one can easily escape.
However, no practitioner of Secret Martial Art would resort to stealing, an act that is embarrassing. They have other ways to make money.
Standing at the entrance of the second-floor staircase, Casio took a moment to sense. The source of the bitterness was mostly confirmed to be on the second floor of the villa.
Ahead was a spacious hall similar to the one on the first floor; couches and cabinets were arranged in a circle, oil paintings hung on the walls. In the corner were potted plants and decorative antiques.
Further on were corridors leading to different areas of the second floor. Every now and then there were rooms along the hallway. At the end on the right, occasional noises emanated from behind a dark red wooden door. On the brass tag above was the word: Study room.
“White bird, my son…has been attacked by the Sand Dust…”
What do you think?
