Chapter 302: Chapter 223: The Inverse Scale, Crushed by a Foot
“Elder, Young Master, it seems these are townspeople,” Ma Gu stepped forward to inspect the several bodies and reported back.
“Hm,” the elder doctor nodded slightly, his face growing cold.
“Let’s go in,” the carriage clattered its way into the town.
Qingfeng Town at this time was a sight of tragedy.
The large town was silent, not a single person in sight, with only bodies lying strewn across the streets.
Splashes of red blood were everywhere, some already darkening.
Such a scene, akin to hell on earth, only made the elder doctor’s face grow increasingly grim.
Fortunately, he could sense that within the houses on both sides of the street, there were still many living people, all hiding in corners, afraid to emerge.
Knowing that those Flowing Cloud Sect disciples hadn’t truly slaughtered the whole town, his heart relaxed a little.
But the elder doctor’s expression remained severe as his gaze fell upon the tallest building in town, his eyes icy and sharp.
His Innate Realm Divine Soul Sensing told him that the Flowing Cloud Sect disciples had not left; they were still in the town.
“Elder doctor, that’s the town’s only tavern, Qingfeng Building,” Zhao Qianlin explained.
“Let’s head over there,” the elder doctor said indifferently.
But Lu Qing knew that his master was truly enraged this time.
The carriage immediately made its way in that direction.
Approaching Qingfeng Building, they could hear the sound of whipping from inside, along with bursts of arrogant laughter.
“Ha-ha, scream, let’s see you scream now. Aren’t your bones tough? How come you can’t bear it after just a short whipping?
You should know, your master took well over a hundred lashes and never passed out, and those two junior brothers of yours also withstood dozens before succumbing and fainting.
How come you are so useless?”
A brash voice echoed from inside the building.
Strangely, though, there were sounds of whipping but no screams of agony.
“Very well, a tough one, huh? Guards, bring out that wretched girl; let’s see if he can still play mute when the little sister he treasures most is being desecrated before his very eyes!”
The arrogant voice rang out again, and several screams followed.
At the same time, an utterly enraged roar erupted: “Scoundrels, let go of my junior sister!”
“Let go of Rou’er!” A feeble voice was also shouting.
“Elder Doctor Chen, that’s my master, Senior Brother Dashi and my junior sister!” Zhao Qianlin’s face turned pale upon hearing this.
“Ma Gu!” the elder doctor called sternly.
Understanding the cue, Ma Gu cracked his whip and instantly sped up the carriage.
Naturally, such commotion drew attention.
At the entrance to the tavern, two disciples from the Flowing Cloud Sect guarding the door saw a large carriage charging towards them and immediately drew their weapons, yelling, “Stop, who are you? Don’t stop, and we’ll cut you down!”
“Nonsense!”
As Ma Gu brought the carriage to an abrupt halt before Qingfeng Building, he took advantage of the forward momentum, leaping out with a long sword, not even drawn from its sheath, merely tapping twice with the scabbard, and the two guarding disciples’ chests collapsed, spurting blood as they crashed into the tavern.
Being assigned to guard the door meant these disciples weren’t highly skilled in their cultivation, and with Ma Gu’s current strength, he dispatched them effortlessly with a couple of strikes.
“Who goes there?!”
This abrupt development naturally alarmed the people inside.
People immediately wanted to step out to see what was happening, but just as two disciples tried to emerge, Ma Gu kicked out twice in rapid succession, sending them flying back before they could properly look, crashing with a din as they likely knocked over numerous tables and chairs.
Amidst the successive disturbances, a sudden silence fell inside the building.
Within this silence, Lu Qing and his companions stepped into the tavern.
As soon as they entered, they saw a figure tied up with hands behind his back, bloody throughout, not a single part of his body unharmed, lying weakly on the ground yet still wearing an expression of rage.
Beside him, another figure covered in whip marks stubbornly stood.
Facing him, a young man with a delicate and sinister face, dressed lavishly, was holding a similarly bound girl.
In the corner lay a pile of seven or eight corpses—judging by their attire, they were likely the tavern’s owner, the cook, and the waiters.
But among them, there was one small figure that made Lu Qing and the others’ eyes narrow.
“Master, Senior Brother Dashi, Junior Sister!” Zhao Qianlin cried out in grief.
The weakened figure on the ground was indeed Fang Tao.
“Junior Sister Qianlin, you were captured too?” Upon seeing Zhao Qianlin, Dashi was first shocked, and spotting Lu Qing and the others, his expression changed drastically, “Did you drag Elder Doctor Chen into this?”
“Sister! Mr. Lu! Elder Chen!” Fang Rou also cried out.
“Fang Tao, we meet again,” Lu Qing nodded.
“Elder Chen, Young Master Lu, were you also captured?” Fang Tao looked astonished.
“Master, no, Elder Doctor Chen came to rescue us!” Zhao Qianlin yelled.
“To rescue us?” Fang Tao seemed incredulous.
Quickly realizing, he urgently called out, “Elder Chen, these people are very formidable, please go, don’t worry about us!”
“You think you can leave after killing people from our Flowing Cloud Sect?”
At that moment, the sinister youth’s chilling voice rose.
“So it’s you, you little wretch, who found others to come to your deaths?”
The man who was holding Fang Rou looked at Zhao Qianlin with a cruel smile on his face.
What do you think?
