Chapter 221
Sir Cain immediately rode to the front and gave orders to the knights. It seemed they were now set on finding a nearby inn to rest.
Penelope closed the carriage window and let out a soft sigh of relief. Ahwin wasted no time in teasing her.
"Well done. You’re surprisingly scary when you’re hungry, Pepe."
Was that a compliment or an insult?
Penelope shot him a sharp glare and retorted, "When have I ever been scary?"
Growwwwl!
Her stomach betrayed her with another loud rumble. Penelope’s face flushed crimson in an instant.
"T-this is just because I haven’t eaten for eight hours!"
"You don’t need to justify it. Honestly, it was kind of cute just now."
"You insufferable mage, is there anything you won’t say?"
"Ahem!"
The steward coughed loudly again, forcing Penelope to snap back to reality and look away.
Ivetta and Pablo were staring at them with their mouths agape, their faces now turning red.
Penelope awkwardly scratched the back of her neck. It was all the fault of this eight-hour fast.
What do you think?
