Chapter 1017: Chapter 1018: A Big Misunderstanding
“Senior Brother of Second Peak?”
Li Xiaobai was somewhat puzzled, but he quickly came to a realization. Second Peak originally didn’t belong to him; it was the territory of Ying Diao’s disciples, one of them being a cultivator of the Heavenly Immortal Realm who, after leaving to wander, neglected Second Peak, leading to its decline over time.
It was precisely for this reason that Li Xiaobai had not encountered any obstructions while making various modifications to this place since a declining peak would not draw anyone’s attention.
What he had not expected was that just after Second Peak had undergone a thorough and complete renovation, the former Peak Master would choose this critical moment to return.
“If he’s returned, just have him come over for a sit-down. Why the panic?” Li Xiaobai said calmly.
“But he was once your predecessor, Brother Li,” the disciple said cautiously.
“And it seems this brother shares the surname Li.”
“So what? Everything can be resolved through communication and discussion—it’s not a big deal. Tell me, where is this Senior Brother now?”
Li Xiaobai’s expression turned slightly dark—what is this talk of a predecessor? The disciple’s way of speaking was rather odd!
“The Senior Brother had just arrived at Second Peak and was taken away by Senior Brother Xu. It looked like he was headed toward the latrine.”
“It was only a fleeting glance from the disciple that made me realize he was in fact the Senior Brother of back then. Senior Brother Xu Yuan clearly doesn’t recognize him. Fearing any disrespect, I hurried to report it, hoping the Peak Master can make a prompt decision,” the disciple explained carefully.
Being one of the long-standing members of Second Peak, he was able to recognize the former Great Disciple, but newcomers like Xu Yuan might not even have heard his name. If they continued with the same approach, they could risk enraging him.
“He was taken to the latrine?”
“I shall go see for myself,” said Li Xiaobai with a somewhat amused expression. The Senior Brother with the strength of the Heavenly Immortal Realm had been immediately ushered into the latrines upon arrival. It seemed Xu Yuan had mistaken him for a common Sect Disciple, and if the man were to become embarrassed and angry, the situation might lead to considerable damage. It would be best for Li Xiaobai to address the situation personally.
“The main character has returned?”
“Little junior brother, could it be that you’ve been playing the cuckoo usurping the nest?” Liu Jinshui asked with widened eyes and shock. For such grand preparations upon returning to the sect’s dominion, he had thought that his little junior brother was starting from scratch, ascending on his own merit, only to be told now he had usurped someone else’s position?
Fortunately, the original owner seemed to possess merely the strength of the Heavenly Immortal Realm. If it had been a Semi-Saint with a Half-Saint Cultivation Level, wouldn’t they have been driven out before their seats had even warmed?
“Brother, don’t speak so harshly. What I’ve done should be called rational use of resources. This peak was lying idle and nearly abandoned. I’ve made good use of it, transforming it, which is beneficial to the Sect Disciples. Moreover, I am now the Peak Master of the Sword Sect’s Second Peak, personally appointed by Sect Master Ying!” Li Xiaobai said indifferently. The state of Second Peak had changed enormously; now all the Disciples on the mountain were his followers, showing extraordinary unity.
“Let’s go see what this Senior Brother looks like.”
…
Meanwhile.
On Sword Sect’s Second Peak, a young man in tattered robes wandered the mountains with a confused look on his face.
He was Li Quzhuo, the Peak Master of Sword Sect’s Second Peak, the Great Disciple under the Sect Master.
After roaming abroad for several years, Liu Jinshui returned to the sect only to be shocked by its transformation. Within the Eastern Continent, the territories of the three Great Sects had vanished without a trace, and within Sword Sect, a mountain peak that towered into the clouds had risen, piercing the sky.
Most crucially, he could faintly make out some familiar silhouettes on this mountain peak. It was the Second Peak of the Sword Sect. When did it become so immense?
But what stirred his heart the most was the moment he stepped onto the Second Peak, swords radiated all around, and countless Sect Disciples on flying swords bowed in midair before him, roaring in unison, “Welcome back, Brother Li!”
It was something he could never have imagined before. When did the Second Peak of the Sword Sect become so prosperous? And despite his disappearance for several years, he was still firmly held in the hearts of the disciples—had his name, Li Quzhuo, become so renowned?
“I did nothing more than slay a hundred or so minor figures and simply eradicated a few sects; I never expected that my reputation had spread to the Eastern Continent so early. It seems the sect holds me in quite high regard and concern!”
Li Quzhuo continued to move forward, but he hadn’t gone far when a flash of light appeared in the void, and a figure in yellow robes appeared before him.
A young disciple came, with a dazzling yellow garment. He held a pen in one hand and a small notebook for recording events in the other, his expression stern.
“New here?”
The young man in yellow asked.
“Not exactly new here, I also practiced on the Second Peak a few years ago.”
Li Quzhuo didn’t rush to reveal his identity but took a detour hoping to surprise the junior in front of him. However, what followed gave him a huge surprise instead.
“Then you’re new here. My name is Xu Yuan, and I am the steward of the Second Peak of the Sword Sect, in charge of all the major and minor matters on the peak. You may go anywhere you please in the rest of the Sword Sect, but within the Second Peak, there is a set of exclusive rules that everyone must follow, and these are the rules set down by Brother Li!”
“You know about Brother Li’s great name, don’t you?”
Xu Yuan asked.
“Is he the master of this Second Peak, the proud pupil of Sect Master Ying?”
Li Quzhuo asked with a smile, although he had no idea what rules he had supposedly established. However, seeing his subordinates so conscientiously and diligently at work, the feeling was genuinely quite nice.
“Sect Master’s proud pupil? Yes, that should be the case. You seem well-informed. Since you know, then follow me inside. Remember, on the Second Peak, you must not walk around casually; there is a sequencing to each destination.”
Xu Yuan declared loudly.
“May I ask, Brother Xu, what significant events have occurred in Sword Sect in recent years that led the sect to decide to rebuild the Second Peak?”
Li Quzhuo continued to inquire.
“What else could it be but because of Brother Li? Brother Li’s Divine Might is unmatched, and his name is known by everyone on the Eastern Continent. The sect specifically issued this order not only to rebuild the Second Peak but also to relocate the three large dynasties into the sect itself. Everything is done so that Brother Li’s faction can have a better cultivation environment.”
Xu Yuan spoke indifferently, his eyes hinting at annoyance j for the other party not considering the relationship with Brother Li.
In his view, anything related to Brother Li naturally fell into place!
“Rebuilding the Second Peak specially, the mentor has put a lot of thought into it!”
Li Quzhuo was overjoyed upon hearing this, and a trace of guilt even rose in his heart.
Was this Brother Li really referring to him? Was he truly so outstanding?
But considering the things he had done over the past few years, which did indeed cause a sensation, perhaps the sect had heard the news and acted specifically to give him a surprise.
With his mood greatly uplifted and no hurry to reveal his identity, he followed Xu Yuan, intending to covertly observe what the Second Peak had become today.
“Brother Xu, where are we going now?”
Xu Yuan spoke proudly, “Remember, the first checkpoint to strike on our Second Peak is always the latrines!”
What do you think?
