Chapter 2247: Chapter 2248: Dialogue
“No problem!”
Hearing Wang Mei Jia’s words, Lin Yi deeply furrowed his brows.
In fact, he had high hopes for this matter.
He believed there was a significant chance the cause was related to the drugs.
Now, hearing such a response, he felt as if all leads had been severed.
And that was indeed the case.
“Really, there’s no problem, I’ll add you on WeChat, and send you the report to take a look.”
“Okay.”
Soon, Lin Yi received Wang Mei Jia’s friend request and the test report she had sent.
Lin Yi was an expert in this area, he didn’t need to consult anyone else, he could understand it himself.
Just like Wang Mei Jia had said, there really was no issue.
Shortly after, Wang Jia Mei’s call came through, “Officer Lin, have you seen the report? Any doubts?”
“No issues.”
“I told you so, the drugs the criminal used, were all handled by me. I’ve been doing this for so many years, there couldn’t possibly be any problems,” Wang Mei Jia said.
“Is there anything else we need to investigate? I will fully cooperate from my end.”
“Not at the moment,” Lin Yi asked.
“By the way, how is Ling Han doing? Is her illness improving?”
“It’s a bit strange with her, it doesn’t seem much like a stomach flu. I gave her two bottles of imported antibiotics, but there’s still no improvement.”
“Can’t be.”
Lin Yi muttered to himself, “Send me her test report to take a look.”
“Just a moment.”
Wang Mei Jia hung up the phone and soon, Ling Han’s test report was sent over.
Lin Yi glanced at it and noticed that both the white blood cell and lymphocyte counts were normal; indeed, there was no issue.
However, there was one unusual reading; her monocyte percentage was three times higher than the normal range.
Such a condition was very rare because in a routine blood test, this reading should be very stable.
But Ling Han’s was somewhat high, which was odd.
Lin Yi sent an audio message to Wang Mei Jia through his phone, asking her to remind Ling Han to check the cause of the elevated monocyte percentage; the problem might lie there.
“It’s almost New Year’s Day, how come you’re so diligent, coming to work every day?” Li Xianghui walked in from outside, teasing.
“There’s a pile of things to handle. If I slack off now, it’ll drag into next year.”
“How’s the case from the Songjiang Precinct going, any new developments?”
Lin Yi shook his head, “The drug test report is out, nothing wrong with it.”
“Uh…”
Lin Yi’s words also made Li Xianghui fall into thought.
If there was nothing wrong with the drugs, then there were no leads to follow.
As they were both at a loss, Ling Han walked in from the outside, holding a kraft paper bag.
“Why have you come?”
“This morning when I went to the station, I heard Sis Wang say that the drug test report was out and that there were no issues with the drugs. Then I called Tang Yongjun over to ask about the situation.”
After speaking, Ling Han handed the kraft paper bag to Lin Yi.
“This is the interrogation record. Take a look if you’re free, you might find some clues.”
“Do you think Tang Yongjun has a problem?”
Ling Han shrugged, “He’s been working at the detention center for over six years. He has always been in charge of these matters, and there’s never been an issue, except for these last two times.”
“That’s really strange.”
“Enough with the frowning,” Li Xianghui said.
“Hand this case over to me. If you have other things to handle, go do those. I happen to be free these days.”
“I won’t stand on ceremony then.”
Lin Yi trusted Li Xianghui’s abilities; the case was neither too big nor too small and letting him handle it seemed appropriate.
Lin Yi looked at Ling Han, “From now on, you work with Brother Li on this. It might speed things up.”
“No problem,” Ling Han said with a laugh, appearing much more relaxed.
“By the way, weren’t you having a stomach flu? How are you feeling now?”
“It’s better,” Ling Han explained. “It will be fine in a few days, no need to worry.”
“That’s good then.”
With everything arranged, Lin Yi left the office.
He had delegated Ma Dehong’s case, and now he could focus on Li Zhenquan’s matter.
Lin Yi got back to his car and called Zhang Chaoyue.
“How are things on your end?”
“Everything is normal. She goes back and forth between home and the company, but she seems very busy. Every time I see her, she’s on the phone.”
“Any other findings?”
“Other findings… Her legs are quite nice, not fat or skinny, just the right amount of flesh.”
“Can you fucking focus on the main issue!”
After Lin Yi cursed, laughter from Luo Qi could be heard from the side, “Haha, like master, like man. If she wasn’t a B-cup, I bet you’d be here in person.”
“Boss, the thing is, there’s really nothing of note to report. Lee Yongjin’s behavior shows no anomalies, and we’re both so idle here we’re farting around,” Zhang Chaoyue said.
“But Lee Yongjin really has that charm, wearing a beige trench coat with black stockings. Honestly, for a woman in her mid-thirties, she manages to give off such vibes when wearing these clothes. Damn, it almost makes me not want to strive for more.”
“Damn it, just keep watching.”
After cursing again, Lin Yi hung up the phone and then called Lee Yongjin.
“Director Lin.”
“There’s something I want to ask you, and I hope you can be frank with me.”
“What does Director Lin want to talk about with me?”
“You mentioned yesterday, you’re working on a major project that’s occupying most of the company’s funds. I’m quite interested in this project, could Director Li talk to me about it?”
Even through the phone, one could feel the pressure on Lee Yongjin’s end.
“This is our group’s internal project, it’s really not suitable to disclose to outsiders, so I might not be able to agree to your request.”
“After all, we have some private connection; can’t you even tell me a little?” Lin Yi teased.
“Are you afraid I’ll steal your business?”
“That’s not it, it’s just that as an internal project of the group, I still ask for Director Lin’s understanding.”
“Understanding is fine, but certain things need to be handled with care. It’s very easy to get burned playing with fire.”
Lee Yongjin had thought Lin Yi would give up on this matter, but he came back with such a remark, which surprised her immensely.
“What does Director Lin mean?”
“The ‘internal project’ you’re referring to is the E-class serum development, isn’t it?”
A simple sentence, but to Lee Yongjin, it burst like thunder.
It was unimaginable to her that despite being so secretive, Lin Yi had found out!
A prolonged silence hung on both ends of the phone.
Both could hear each other’s hearts pounding—
Did Lin Yi have evidence that the Li family was researching E-class serum?
The answer was no. He was simply using an assertive approach to trick Lee Yongjin!
What do you think?
