Chapter 2274: Chapter 2275: Bizarre
Ji Qingyan, who was having a meal, heard words like “car accident” and her emotions became tense as well.
The other people in the room felt the same, since car accidents were no small matter.
“Who was in a car accident?”
“It’s Brother Li from my unit,” Lin Yi said hurriedly. “Let’s not eat now, come back with me to check on him.”
“Okay.”
Ji Qingyan put down her chopsticks, quickly got ready with Lin Yi, and had Wu Feiyue take them to the airport, returning to Zhong Hai at the first opportunity.
On the way, Lin Yi called Guofeng Miao.
But the response he got chilled his heart.
Li Xianghui had not left the danger behind yet; all of the hospital’s doctors had joined for a consultation, but it was still uncertain whether they could save him.
Nevertheless, Lin Yi instructed Guofeng Miao to spare no expense to save Li Xianghui and promised to cover all medical costs himself.
After arranging things in Zhong Hai, Lin Yi fell into deep thought.
He really wanted to regard this incident as an accident, but he just couldn’t.
He always felt that there was a conspiracy mixed in with this matter.
However, the case involving Ma Dehong could only be linked to the Hongmen in Shianggang.
Now that they were annihilated, they couldn’t possibly organize such a thing.
Therefore, all the suspicion pointed towards one person.
The real person who got Ma Dehong killed!
In other words, a mole within the public security system!
From now on, he had to take over this case himself.
Otherwise, if it were handed to someone else, there could be further problems.
More than two hours later, the plane landed at Zhong Hai Airport, and Zhang Chaoyue came to receive them.
“How’s the situation at the hospital?”
During the drive, Lin Yi had arranged for Zhang Chaoyue to keep an eye on Li Xianghui’s condition at the hospital.
“It’s been over two hours since he was admitted, but the situation isn’t very good. The doctors say he’s not out of danger, and whether he’ll make it is in the hands of fate.”
“Exactly where is he injured?”
“Skull, ribs, liver rupture, too much blood loss. It was a very serious car accident,” Zhang Chaoyue said.
“Director Miao told me that he hopes you can return quickly to perform the surgery, which could increase the chances.”
Lin Yi nodded. “How’s Ling Han’s situation?”
“She’s almost unscathed, just a minor injury to her arm. Cast and bandages, some rest at home, and she’ll be fine,” Zhang Chaoyue said while driving.
“But we feel that there’s something odd about this, it doesn’t quite make sense.”
“What’s strange about it?”
“The car accident was very severe. The driver’s side had caved in significantly. With such an extent of damage, the offending vehicle wouldn’t be able to function properly. If it were a regular car, whether it could even be driven away would be questionable. But the surveillance footage showed that after the collision, the hit-and-run driver just fled the scene.”
“So you suspect that the car was tampered with?”
Zhang Chaoyue nodded.
“It was a black Subaru, model year 2016, especially suited for modifications. I’ve even modified a few myself.”
“Is there any news from the traffic police?”
“I’m not very clear about their news. We’ll need to inquire about the details.”
Lin Yi leaned back in his seat, closing his eyes to rest.
“Hurry up.”
After running a few red lights, it took less than half an hour for Zhang Chaoyue to get to the hospital.
“Do I need to go up with you?” Ji Qingyan asked before getting out of the car.
“I’ll have Chaoyue take you back. It’s probably chaotic up there, and I likely won’t be able to take care of you.”
“Then I’ll go on back.” Ji Qingyan gestured by her ear.
“If there’s anything I can do, remember to call me.”
“Alright.”
After getting out of the car, Lin Yi immediately headed to the surgery room of the Third Inpatient Department.
He found a large crowd gathered there.
There were colleagues from the Xinshan branch office, superiors from higher up, and Li Xianghui’s family members.
“How’s Brother Hui doing?” Lin Yi asked Zhang Hui.
“All the hospital’s doctors are here, but we’re not too clear on the specifics. We’re waiting for news.”
Zhang Hui pointed toward a woman sitting on a chair.
“That’s Sister-in-law. I think you meet her for the first time.”
Lin Yi nodded and went to greet her.
“Sister-in-law, don’t worry, I’ve called the hospital, and I will spare no expense to complete the surgery successfully. I will take full responsibility for all costs; he will definitely be fine.”
“Thank you,” the woman said, wiping away tears.
“You guys wait here, I’m going to go see the situation.”
“You can get in there while the surgery is going on?”
“I know the people here, getting in shouldn’t be a problem. Wait here for my news.”
Lin Yi didn’t say much else, nor did he inquire further, just pushed the door and entered the surgery room.
Seeing someone come in abruptly, an assistant nurse was about to speak, then recognized Lin Yi and welcomed him inside.
“Principal Lin, you’re here.”
“Go get me some surgical gowns.”
“Alright.”
The nurse was quick, readying the surgical gown in less than a minute.
When Lin Yi entered, he found Li Chuhan was also there.
But the two only exchanged glances and nodded at each other.
With the situation being so urgent, it wasn’t the time for other talk.
Once everything was prepared, Lin Yi took a look at Li Xianghui’s condition, immediately frowning with concern. The situation was worse than he had anticipated.
But at this point, all he could do was give it his all.
After more than a dozen hours and until past two a.m., Lin Yi finally finished the last suture.
The high-intensity surgery had left him feeling drained by the time he finished the final stitch.
As the other doctors had taken rests and eaten during the procedure, only Lin Yi had persisted without any breaks.
When he couldn’t bear it, he drank a bottle of glucose to sustain himself, hanging on until the wee hours of the morning.
When Li Xianghui was wheeled out, Lin Yi sat down on the floor, the muscle soreness overwhelming him as if he had just run dozens of kilometers.
Several nurses came in and helped massage Lin Yi.
To them, the ability of one person to complete such a major surgery from start to finish without any mistakes was unheard of, not just in Zhong Hai, but perhaps throughout China, only Principal Lin could achieve this.
Soon, Li Chuhan also walked in and gently crouched beside Lin Yi.
“Can you hold up? I’ll call someone to take you to rest.”
“No need, I’m feeling much better already,” Lin Yi said with a wry smile.
“Has he been taken to the ICU yet?”
“He’s under observation for a couple of days, but I think there shouldn’t be any problems.” Li Chuhan nodded and quietly gave Lin Yi a thumbs-up. “You’re amazing.”
Lin Yi smiled, looking tenderly at Li Chuhan.
Li Chuhan also appeared tired, sitting beside Lin Yi, gently holding his hand without saying a word, sharing the warmest strength with each other.
What do you think?
