Chapter 772: Retreat
Chapter 772: Chapter 772: Retreat
Seeing that all the players from their alliance were already at half Vitality Points, with some even closer to death, a somber dreariness flowed over Thomas’s face. After muttering a few curses under his breath, a visible struggle of hesitation appeared in his eyes.
The world BOSS’s Vitality Points had already decreased to 10% or less. With five or six minutes at most, they could kill the BOSS. However, Song Jian’s recent attacks had taken down five or six players, resulting in a significant drop in the team’s overall Combat Power. More crucially, there were only two healers left in their team, who were utterly inadequate for healing their many injured players.
“Should we give up?”
This thought continued to swirl around in Thomas’s mind. Giving up would mean that all their previous efforts were in vain. If they didn’t give up and Song Jian launched another attack like the previous one, they would risk full-scale annihilation.
“His displacement attack is probably his trump card, with a cooldown time of at least ten minutes. We’ll have plenty of time to kill this world BOSS and then deal with him!” A player whispered in Thomas’s ear.
Thomas’s eyes brightened, and he roared, “Focus all fire on the world BOSS. Drunkard, take a few men and clear out these minions, ASAP!”
It was this decision that plunged the Fallen Angel Alliance into an abyss of irreversible doom.
The level 35 Flame Demons, under the attack of all players, wouldn’t last long. At this point, only six remained. There was one more Flame Demon boss, but Carter had restrained it, preventing it from threatening the players.
From afar, Song Jian watched as the Flame Demons he had painstakingly recruited were defeated one by one; nevertheless, he remained stoic. He had never expected these minion Flame Demons to annihilate the team before them.
Song Jian summoned Rockman Gulu, then checked the Black Dragon’s Vitality Points, which had recovered to over 60%. After a moment’s hesitation, Song Jian summoned the Black Dragon.
The Black Dragon’s Dragon Breath and Vortex Fireball, an area-of-effect attack and a single-target attack, both possessed impressive power, especially the Dragon Breath. Its power was not inferior to the Ten Thousand Facets Sword Technique, and when combined, they could generate a power that exceeded the sum of their parts.
Song Jian watched as the players from the Fallen Angel Alliance continued to attack the world BOSS, quietly awaiting the cooldown of his Soul Wander skill.
Thomas had inaccurately estimated the cooldown time of Soul Wander. A fully upgraded Soul Wander skill only had a one-minute cooldown. Even without any unexpected events, it would take them at least five minutes to kill this world boss.
It was due to the underestimation of Soul Wander’s cooldown that what awaited the Fallen Angel Alliance was Destruction.
A minute passed quickly, but Song Jian made no move, silently watching the ongoing fight between the Fallen Angel Alliance and the world BOSS. At this critical moment, the boss’s Vitality Points were below 10% and continued to drop. Among the crowd attacking the BOSS, several players with rogue roles had disappeared. Clearly, they were Thomas’s contingency plan against Song Jian’s sudden attack.
8%, 7%, 6%, …
The world BOSS’s Vitality Points kept dropping. When they reached 3%, Thomas still didn’t see Song Jian making a move.
“It seems his ability cooldown is indeed very long!” Finally, Thomas breathed a sigh of relief. A satisfied smile unconsciously appeared on his face. There was a high probability that a world BOSS would drop Epic level equipment. His alliance had prepared many days for this, with killing a world BOSS being the end goal. Victory was in sight. If Song Jian hadn’t interfered, no player would have died in this hunt.
With these thoughts in mind, Thomas’s face hardened. He was determined to rally all players of his alliance to relentlessly hunt down Song Jian once they returned.
However, just then, Thomas suddenly sensed a surge of potent magic energy above his head. Looking up, he saw a massive Black Dragon looming above them, its mouth wide open, slowly gathering a fear-inducing torrent of flame.
“Watch out above!” Thomas sensed danger, letting out a miserable roar. The Fallen Angel Wings behind him gave a strong flap, shooting him toward the sky.
Boom!
A wave of scalding Dragon Breath fire was spat out onto the crowd, with floating damage numbers indicating hundreds of points of damage above everyone’s heads.
Although Dragon Breath was a fire-based attack, it fell under Dragon Language Magic, not fire magic. The Abyssal players’ high Fire Resistance couldn’t weaken or mitigate this type of damage.
Everyone’s attention was instantly drawn to the Black Dragon as ranged players subconsciously started targeting it.
Meanwhile, Thomas charged directly at the Black Dragon, flipping his wrist to reveal two daggers, similar to a hunter’s fangs, in his palms.
Most Abyssal Mage class tend to use magic staffs or wands, but Thomas’s weapons of choice were a pair of magic daggers.
“Abyssal Exile!” Thomas waved his daggers, a grey light erupting from them like tendrils snaking towards the Black Dragon.
Soon, the Black Dragon’s huge body was enveloped in grey energy, like a large net. It was as if the dragon was exiled from this world, unable to attack any player and temporarily losing connection with Song Jian.
Having successfully exiled the Black Dragon, Thomas was about to breathe a sigh of relief, but he noticed his Spirit Points had dropped to less than 30%, making his face pale immediately.
The Abyssal Exile skill uses more Spirit Points against stronger targets. The Black Dragon was a level 35 creature with first-tier combat power and a member of the Dragon Clan. If Thomas were not so powerful, he wouldn’t have been able to exile it.
After a moment’s hesitation, Thomas pulled out a vial of light blue potion from his inventory and deliberated whether to use it when he suddenly heard the cries of the players in his alliance erupt from below. @@novelbin@@
Looking down, he saw a familiar scene replay before his eyes. The endless snow flurry, covering all players from the alliance, again filled his eyes with clusters of damage numbers.
“Human, I will definitely kill you!” Thomas bellowed out in anger.
Due to the lack of healing roles, almost all players had low Vitality Points. The only one with sufficient Vitality Points was the Abyss Shield Striker who was standing up against the world BOSS, as all the remaining two Abyss Priests had been solely healing him.
This round of attack, though lacking the assistance of Flame Demons, caused even more damage to this group of players than the previous one.
Once the Ten Thousand Facets Sword Technique was deployed, within a few seconds, more than a dozen players fell in the snowy field, including two priests who were healing the Abyss Shield Striker.
“Retreat, everyone, retreat!” Thomas bellowed. He took one last painful look at the world BOSS with less than 3% Vitality Points. His heart bled at the sight.
…
What do you think?
