I have an Apocalypse City

Chapter 852 - 853: Abyss Player_1

Chapter 852: Chapter 853: Abyss Player_1

The brawny men playing poker all showed a mocking expression when Water Ghost mentioned the shark over ten meters long, clearly incredulous that there could be such a shark in these waters;

All these men had been sailors before, with at least a decade of experience each. They had heard every ocean legend there was, but most were just tall tales among sailors, none of them true.

Yet Water Ghost appeared contemplative, gazing toward the backyard where a few had entered. After a while, he threw his cards onto the table and said, “I’m going to have a look!”

Without further ado, Water Ghost headed for the backyard.

“What’s gotten into Water Ghost? Hasn’t the feud between him and Sea Wolf been resolved?” asked one of the brawny men, puzzled, as he watched Water Ghost walk away.

“Resolve a family’s grudge just like that? Impossible!” Another burly man picked up the cards to reshuffle and deal to the players.

...

“But wasn’t it said that the Jazz had mediated between them?” someone lamented while glancing at their hand, then threw their cards down on the table in annoyance.

“Of course, that’s certain. As long as Jazz is around, I believe their issues are settled, but don’t forget, Jazz is already over seventy. Tell me, what will Water Ghost do when Jazz one day passes away?” The dealer slowly fondled the cards in his hands, a hint of excitement on his face.

“Gun down Sea Wolf at his home?” shrugged one of the brawny men, unconcernedly.

“That’s why I have no plans to marry!” said another, laying down his cards gently, “Three hundred, anybody want to call?”

“First, you’d have to find a girl who would even look at you. I’ll call with five hundred!” laughed the one who began dealing, as he threw a few bills onto the table;

Song Jian and Hao Dong followed a few sailors to the backyard, a barren space with only a few apartment blocks lined up. One of the sailors excitedly took out a card, swiped it at the entrance of the first building, and the large door to the apartment opened for them to enter;

“For just ten thousand yuan, you can get a card like this, but this lowest-level White Card only lets you go down to the third floor. There are also Green Cards, Blue Cards, and Silver Cards that go deeper, and it’s said the further down you go, the more fun there is. As for the immortal substance you’re talking about, I bet you’d have to go where the Silver Card goes to even have a chance to buy it!” the sailor said with a grin;

“So you’re saying, you actually aren’t sure what’s really down here?” Song Jian raised an eyebrow and asked;

“Some things, we’ve truly never seen with our own eyes, but you can’t doubt their existence. Trust me, once you’re in here, you can have everything!” the sailor said seriously;

Taking the elevator, they went all the way down to the third underground level. Before the elevator fully stopped, Song Jian heard the noisy tumult coming through the elevator gap, and noticed the sailors already eager and restless.

When the door finally opened, the sailors waved to Song Jian and Hao Dong before rushing out;

Song Jian and Hao Dong stepped out of the elevator somewhat baffled. The scene before them was identical to a nightclub in a typical big city—with the DJ’s loud music, the air thick with the scent of perfume and alcohol, dim laser lights flickering on bustling figures, and a few shabbily dressed girls wildly writhing on stage.

“So we paid fifty thousand yuan to take a smuggling boat here, just to end up at a nightclub?” Hao Dong said, his face an expression of disbelief.

“Don’t say it like that, didn’t the captain give you the fifty thousand yuan?” Song Jian glanced at Hao Dong as he spoke;

Just then, a young man in a suit slowly approached and shouted loudly, “Is this your first time here? Do you need a guide?”

“Oh, how do you charge?” Song Jian looked at the young man and smiled as he asked;

“Very cheap, just a thousand yuan for one day!” the youth shouted, holding up one finger;

“Damn…” Hao Dong was immediately angered, feeling as if the other party was trying to extort them.

Song Jian raised his hand to stop Hao Dong from getting angry and nodded, “Okay, a thousand! What’s your name?”

“Hey, my name is Zhao Guoming, but you can call me Mingzi.”

Song Jian had already noticed that this third level underground wasn’t just the nightclub-like place before his eyes. Outside, it was almost like a small town, and he even spotted many people who seemed to be game players, wandering around the town;

“Let’s go, let’s take a walk outside, it’s too noisy here,” Song Jian said;

Zhao Guoming nodded and was about to lead the two men outside when he suddenly paused. In the midst of the noisy music, where even he had to shout to make himself heard, the man before him seemed to be speaking normally, but his voice came through to Zhao Guoming’s ears crystal clear;

“Gentlemen, this way, please!” Zhao Guoming immediately became much more respectful, leading Song Jian and Hao Dong outside;

After passing through another corridor, they stepped onto the streets outside. Zhao Guoming took a deep breath, and his entire being relaxed;

“To tell the truth, I’m not really used to places like that,” Zhao Guoming said, touching his nose with a slightly embarrassed expression;

Song Jian and Hao Dong paid him no mind and started looking around. The streets here were narrow, but the shops on both sides were almost as good as those in the big cities, probably because of the limited land area. After all, they were only on the third level underground, which was only about a third larger in area than the island above;

“Noble guests, may I ask why you are here?” Zhao Guoming asked respectfully, “Are you in search of power, here for trade, or simply to relax and have fun?”

“Oh? Are there so many considerations here?” Song Jian asked with a smile, unable to help but glance at a young girl passing by him;

She was a girl with Eastern European heritage, her chestnut-red hair like a flaming fire, dancing with her movements, and her figure was outstanding, catching the eye.

“Hey, BABY!” The beautiful girl, noticing Song Jian’s gaze, wasn’t bothered; instead, she blew him a kiss and passed by with a smile;

“Smoking hot!” Hao Dong stared at the back of the girl, swallowing hard, his eyes almost following her as she walked away;

“She’s also a player, very strong!” Song Jian slightly turned his head and whispered into Hao Dong’s ear, audible only to the two of them.

Song Jian sensed the aroma of the Abyss from this girl, she was a professional player of the Abyss!
