I Killed The Main Characters

Chapter 219 Confession [1]

The final bell of the day echoed through the hallways of Ravenwood Academy, signaling the end of classes for the first-year students.

Elias stayed seated in his usual spot in Class 1A, tapping his pen absentmindedly against the desk.

He glanced toward the seat where Velma always sat, her notebooks meticulously arranged and her focus intense.

But today, her seat was empty.

It wasn't like Velma to skip class.

She had an almost obsessive dedication to her studies.

Elias found his gaze returning to her desk repeatedly throughout the lesson, each glance leaving a heavier weight in his chest.

As the last student left the room, Elias rose from his seat.

He couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong.

Elias spent the entire day searching for Velma.

He combed through the library, her usual haven of solitude.

The dim aisles were quiet, except for the sound of pages turning.

She wasn't there.

He checked the gardens, where she sometimes went to study under the shade of the cherry blossom trees.

The branches swayed gently in the breeze, but the bench she favored was empty.

He even ventured into the art wing, though he knew Velma wasn't the type to dabble in painting or sculpture.

The halls were filled with creative chaos, yet there was no sign of her.

Time slipped away unnoticed.

By the time Elias realized how long he'd been searching, the sun had begun to set, painting the academy grounds in hues of gold and crimson.

Defeated, Elias decided to return to Class 1A.

He pushed open the door, expecting to find the room as empty as it had been all day.

And it was—at least at first glance.

The silence was palpable as he walked toward his seat, intending to grab his bag and leave.

But then, a muffled sound stopped him.

Crying.

Elias froze, his ears straining.

The sound came from the back of the room, near the far corner where the light from the windows barely reached.

He turned and saw her.

Velma.

She was sitting on the floor, her back against the wall, her knees drawn up to her chest.

Her shoulders shook with each sob, her face hidden behind her hands.

Elias's heart clenched.

He walked over slowly, lowering himself to her level.

She didn't notice him at first, too lost in her grief.

Gently, he reached out, cupping her face and tilting her head up.

"Velma…"

He whispered, wiping away her tears with his thumb.

Her eyes were red and puffy, her cheeks streaked with tears.

She tried to turn away, but Elias held her steady.

"Why are you crying?"

He asked softly.

Velma sniffled, her voice barely audible.

"It's nothing...

I'm just… I've got a lot on my hands.

And sometimes… sometimes I hate myself so much."

Elias's heart broke at her words.

He shook his head firmly.

"You shouldn't hate yourself, Velma.

Do you know why?"

She didn't respond, but her tear-filled eyes met his.

"Because you're amazing..."

He continued.

"You're smart, determined, and stronger than you realize.

You care about people even when they don't deserve it...

And you don't give up, no matter how hard things get."

Velma's lip quivered.

She tried to look away again, but Elias wouldn't let her.

"You're not perfect..." he said, his voice softening.

"But nobody is. That's what makes you… you.

And I love that about you.

I love you.

Not like, Velma. Love.

It's unprecedented.

And I'd like to date you—if you'd let me."

Velma stared at him, her breath hitching.

"With me..." Elias continued.

"...you won't have to go through anything alone.

You can talk to me about whatever you're feeling, no matter what it is.

I'll never get tired of you, not even for a second. I promise."

Tears welled up in Velma's eyes again, but this time, they weren't from despair.

"Elias…" she began, her voice trembling.

"You're such a nice guy. Everyone in our year adores you.

But… I don't think you should love someone like me."

Elias frowned.

"What do you mean?"

Velma hesitated, then took a shaky breath.

"I'm… I'm not good enough for you.

I'm not as pretty as the other girls.

'm not as confident or as social.

I'm just… me. A mess."

Elias leaned closer, his voice firm but gentle.

"And that's exactly why I love you. Because you're you.

Your flaws, your insecurities—they're what make you real.

They make you human.

And honestly? They make you even more beautiful to me."

Velma shook her head, fresh tears streaming down her face.

"But I'm not like you. I don't… I don't even feel the same way about you."

Elias smiled softly, lifting a finger to her lips to shush her.

"It doesn't matter," he said.

"Because I'm not going anywhere.

Whether it takes days, months, or years, I'll wait.

I'll wait because I want to be part of your world, Velma.

I want you to take me to your universe.

And no matter what happens, I'll make you the happiest person in the world. If you suffer, I'll suffer with you.

Because the truth is, Velma, I love you more than anything."

Velma's world tilted.

His words broke through the walls she'd built around herself, tearing down the gray and white stage she'd confined herself to.

For the first time, everything seemed brighter, more colorful.

It was as if the invisible strings that had held her down were finally severed.

She burst into tears again, but this time, there was relief in her sobs.

"…Okay..."

She whispered, her voice cracking but sincere.

Elias's smile widened.

He leaned in slowly, giving her time to pull away if she wanted to.

But Velma didn't.

When their lips met, it was soft, tentative at first.

But then she kissed him back, her eyes closing as she let herself feel, truly feel, for the first time in what seemed like forever.

For both of them, the world outside the empty classroom ceased to exist.

In that moment, there was only Elias and Velma—
