Chapter 29 - 29 28 Plantation
29: Chapter 28 Plantation 29: Chapter 28 Plantation The expanded treehouse came with a higher rent, and many coveted this new feature, but few actually went ahead and expanded their own treehouses.
As the largest team within Qingshan Camp, Liu Luoluo and her teammates already had the luxury of living in treehouses, which put them at an advantage in the camp.
Expanding and moving into one together wouldn’t significantly increase their expenses, and would be more convenient.
Even so, their expansions were limited; they didn’t change the model of the house, and the size wasn’t much bigger than Mu Ying’s, nor did they spend money to change the model.
Thus, Mu Ying’s house stood out especially, but no one dared to tamper with it because copper coins could only be obtained by killing zombies, and having money meant being powerful.
Mu Ying had indeed earned a good sum from killing zombies on this outing, but her generosity was entirely because the territory was hers.
Tossing in silver coins was just for show, merely transferring funds from one place to another.
After the treehouse was expanded, Mu Ying quickly climbed up, slammed the door shut, and finally relaxed, “Finally, the act is over!”
Sneaking around, not daring to tell anyone she was actually the lord of the camp, felt uncomfortable and restrictive.
All this was because she was still too weak; without absolute strength, revealing herself was too dangerous.
She wouldn’t dare do as she pleased until she could hold the upper hand even when surrounded.
Mu Ying took a moment to calm herself and looked around her new home.
The double-story duplex structure had stairs leading to the second-floor bedroom right by the entrance.
The original fireplace and stove on the ground floor were now separated, one on each side, with two windows on each of the remaining walls.
The room was much more spacious, and the things that were previously cluttering the floor were sorted into the corners.
Mu Ying imagined what it would look like with furniture and felt a bit more comfortable.
After collecting a few more rounds of rent, she planned to go shopping to tidy up the house, but for tonight, she would still have to sleep in the cramped sleeping bag.
Perhaps because so much had happened during the day, she fell asleep as soon as she lay down.
The next morning, she woke up at the first chirp of birds, feeling refreshed and led Old Yellow Bull out while others were still asleep, sneaking into the foggy area, her plantation.
The plantation was just outside the camp’s main gate, in the area where many trees had been cut down due to the gathering of people.
The place was still littered with plenty of firewood and miscellaneous items.
Mu Ying decided to reclaim even the tree stumps and roots, leaving behind bare soil, and obtained 233 Timber and 2 Energy.
With 20 Timber and 20 Energy, she built a treehouse in one corner of the plantation, specifically setting aside three trees to store seeds and planting tools.
After she cleared up the miscellaneous items in the plantation, the whole field looked much cleaner and flatter.
Mu Ying drove Old Yellow Bull, used a plow she had obtained from a farmer’s house to till the compacted soil, then marked out a small vegetable garden and planted the crop seeds she had brought.
Potatoes, sweet potatoes, chili peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants, and many more; she planted only a few plants of each type of all the vegetables she liked to eat.
She didn’t plant these crops according to the optimal planting seasons, just haphazardly sowing them, yet she wasn’t worried about them not growing, thanks to Recovery Spring and her Druid abilities.
The growth cycle of the crops wasn’t long, and soon she would have fresh vegetables to eat.
Besides the vegetable garden intended to satisfy her hunger, she also buried one seed each of peach, pear, and jujube trees next to the vegetable garden.
Given the limited space in the plantation, she would have to wait to plant other fruit tree seeds later.
The remaining space was intended for nurturing saplings or other more valuable plants.
Mu Ying scattered the seeds she had gathered using Feedback Claw on her way back, and after taking care of them for a while until they grew into saplings, they could then be transplanted into the forest, increasing efficiency.
Planting the seeds was quick, but using Druid Tricks to spur germination and Water Creation Skill to water them made checking the state of the plants much more troublesome.
Druid Tricks and natural sense could only target one object at a time, and after a whole morning of work, she managed to deal with the vegetable garden and the three fruit trees.
Mu Ying was busy for most of the day before finishing up in the plantation.
Frequent use of natural sense, Druid Tricks, and the Water Creation Skill significantly enhanced her control over these abilities.
Natural sense became faster, Druid Tricks could now stimulate multiple seeds at once, and the Water Creation Spell’s water ball slightly altered its form to spread into a water film, covering a larger area, into which Recovery Spring could be directly injected.
Of course, indispensable was the growth in Professional Experience.
Creating a plantation from scratch always garnered nature’s feedback, causing her Professional Experience to rapidly increase, adding over seventy in a single day.
[Profession: Druid Level 2 (220/300)]
Seeing that Level 3 was not far off, Mu Ying didn’t feel relieved at all, and the concerns she had suppressed came surfacing.
“Enough, I should just go and get it clear!”
Mu Ying ran toward Oak Grocery.
As evening approached and thinking that Oak Grocery was about to close, she finally left the Plantation.
“Grandpa Shom, is there a world without natural power?”
What she really wanted to ask was, were her current abilities real?
Last night, in Square World, she couldn’t communicate with natural power at all.
Her capabilities, as they were now, had only emerged after the onset of the Doomsday Game, but although it was called a game, all of her abilities were not achieved overnight.
Every Skill, every Spell, every interaction with nature required learning and genuine effort; she had never felt these were just fictitious game data before, but last night’s events had shaken her.
Shom, observing Mu Ying’s conflicted expression, said slowly yet certainly, “Girl, there’s no real world that doesn’t need nature.”
“Real world?” Mu Ying keenly picked up on the crux of Grandpa Shom’s words.
Could it be the Square World was fake?
But if not real, what then was the Source Power that turned the intangible into tangible?
Indeed, “material conversion” is essentially making the intangible tangible, right?
“Your question today suggests you must have experienced the Trial World,” Shom stroked his beard, “In which case, I can share some things with you now.”
“If we say where we are now is real, then the Trial World is virtual, but countless epochs ago, the Trial World was real too.
Back then, in the various universes, each race kept to themselves, non-cooperating.
Each Race had their own measures to protect their civilization’s trials, such as the Elf Clan’s World Tree, the Human Clan’s World Net.
These trial platforms preserved the legacies of the Races, selected the elites, and deployed them into the Race battlefields to fight for territory and resources.
Most of the Trial Worlds were territories of the Races or planes seized in wars.
But later, as the wars became fiercer, numerous planes collapsed in the conflicts, causing countless casualties and a lot of unnecessary resource wastage.
At that time, a powerful and omniscient figure from the Human Clan emerged, using her own original space as an anchor, linking ten thousand worlds, and gathering the nascent Source Power from various universes to form a Source Power Pool.
With the Source Power Pool at the core and integrating the trial platforms of all races, she established the Land of Ten Thousand Worlds Trial.
Since then, the conflicts among Races ceased, and the battle for resources moved from the real planes to the virtual Trial Worlds, thus bringing much peace among the Races.
The Ten Thousand Worlds Trial is not only a proving ground for the elites of all worlds but also a controller and distributor of the Source Power of the universe.
However, although today’s Trial Worlds are virtual, they are not false; they are deemed virtual only because everything in them exists in a form of energy.
If you couldn’t feel the natural power, it is only likely that the rules of that world restrict it.
In today’s grand scheme, no universe neglects those who earn resources for it.”
Mu Ying finally felt reassured.
If talent was so important, it’s more likely that the purpose of the Doomsday Game was for cultivation, aligning with her ongoing perceptions.
Entering the Ten Thousand Worlds Trial, that scene akin to a game’s CG intro must be real – perhaps the threads are indeed the channels for distributing Source Power!
After stepping out of the grocery store, the story told by Grandpa Shom about the creator of the Ten Thousand Worlds Trial still left Mu Ying immensely curious.
What kind of person could single-handedly accomplish such a feat!
What do you think?
