I Play the Horror World as a Simulation Game

Chapter 201: Memory doubts, new scenes!

When the spotlight fell on the stage, the beam of light drove away the surrounding darkness. Qin Nuo, seated below, calmed his mind and watched quietly.

From the darkness came some faint sounds, followed by the laughter of a few children. Agai was the first to appear in the light, holding a bunch of props for the performance.

Then came Tang Rou, Dafu, and the others.

"I'm so sleepy today. I didn't get enough sleep in class, and now I've been dragged here for rehearsal. When will this play finally end?" Agai yawned, looking completely unwilling.

"Stop complaining. Joining this family isn't for fun," Tang Rou glared at him.

"The final scene is very important. The festival gala is coming soon, and we all need to work hard to rehearse it well!"

Tang Rou, despite being the smallest in stature and age among them, had a fierce aura and personality that no one in the group dared to defy.

They began setting up the stage, and after a while, they noticed an audience member below.

Tang Rou saw Qin Nuo, walked down, and dragged him onto the stage. "You, where have you been these days? Disappeared without a trace!"

"Even if your role isn't big, you can't be so lazy. I've told you many times, joining this family means no special treatment for anyone!"

Qin Nuo's ear hurt from being pulled. Once on stage, a set of costume props was shoved into his hands.

"Sister Tang, you know about Qin Feng's family situation. His parents are still fighting. It's good enough that he can come," Agai said, scratching his head.

"Exactly, you're so lucky. Your grandpa is a teacher at the school and spoils you..." Dafu pulled out a formal suit from the costume props and put it on himself.

Halfway through his words, Dafu quickly covered his mouth, remembering that Tang Rou's parents were gone, and she was only raised by her grandfather.

Tang Rou didn't seem to mind, pushing Qin Nuo. "Hurry up and change. Here's your script. Even if your role isn't big, you need to memorize and practice it well."

"Don't mess up during the Children's Day gala and become a laughingstock for the whole school!"

Qin Nuo nodded, holding the costume and standing aside.

The others busied themselves, and Tang Rou checked the time, frowning with obvious displeasure. "Where's Yanan? Is he not coming again?"

Agai, arranging items, said, "Probably throwing a tantrum and didn't come."

"He's throwing a tantrum? My temper is bigger than his, yet I'm here. Can't he have a bit of responsibility?" Tang Rou said coldly, clearly not fond of Yanan.

"There's nothing we can do. He's the one with the skills. He arranges the script and props," Agai whispered.

"Whose side are you on?" Tang Rou glared at him again. Agai shrank back, continuing his work without daring to mutter.

"Qin Feng, help me with this chair, fold it," Dafu called, dragging a large cloth bag over.

Qin Nuo, having just put on a shirt, heard the call and walked over.

As they worked together, Qin Nuo casually said, "Dafu, maybe you should try to be more patient with your father. Have a serious talk. He's only concerned about your studies, which is why he's so upset."

Dafu looked puzzled, "I do have a bad relationship with my dad, but I never told anyone. How do you know?"

Qin Nuo's expression remained calm upon hearing this.

The curse refreshed memories, making him relive a certain day repeatedly. He had long suspected this and said it deliberately to confirm.

Qin Nuo smiled and said, "Your dad told me when I was working at the shop."

Dafu still looked puzzled, "Working? My parents have always run the bun shop together. How were you helping out there?"

Qin Nuo felt a bit confused but replied calmly, "I saw your dad was busy this morning, so I helped out since we're classmates."

Dafu seemed to understand, turned to continue his work, and said nothing more.

Watching his back, Qin Nuo thought, "The memory refresh is correct, but the main memory should still be intact. Dafu doesn't know about Qin Feng working at his shop as child labor. Did this happen after he died?"

"But why, during the day, when Dafu returned to the shop, wasn't his dad surprised? He even scolded him for being idle?"

"The memories of these two are clearly different. What's going on?"

Qin Nuo pondered, then noticed that the injury on the back of Dafu's head from the rolling pin was gone.

His eyebrows twitched, and a suspicion formed in his mind.

In the corner of the darkness, the door suddenly opened, just like in the previous days' scenes. Atu arrived late, with almost the same lines, saying Yanan couldn't come for some reason, so he was here to take over the role.

Tang Rou and the others looked extremely displeased upon hearing this.

"Yanan probably won't come anymore. Just because of some disagreement, does he have to be so petty?"

"When we joined the guild, we all swore that no matter what disagreements arose, the guild's interests would come first. This guy just dropped everything and left. So irresponsible!"

Dafu and the others criticized, their faces showing disgust.

"Is that all he said?" Tang Rou, still calm, asked.

"That's all. He's been acting strange these days. I don't know what's happened to him," Atu said.

Tang Rou frowned, "Then you take over his role and do well."

Atu's eyes lit up, and he grinned, "Don't worry, I'll do my best."

"Forget about that cold-hearted guy. Let's continue our rehearsal!"

Tang Rou clapped her hands, calling everyone over.

Atu noticed Qin Nuo, looking a bit surprised, "Xiaofeng, you're here too. I thought you and Yanan wouldn't come."

Qin Nuo replied casually, "Got delayed by family matters, so I took two days off."

Atu wanted to say more but was called over by Tang Rou to prepare with props and scripts.

Time passed quickly, and soon, the props and lines were ready.

Tang Rou paced the stage, instructing Agai to turn off the other lights, leaving just one spotlight.

The lights went out, and the large stage became dark again. Qin Nuo and the others took their positions, and Tang Rou clapped, signaling the start.

Qin Nuo sat on a chair, swallowed by darkness, watching Tang Rou under the spotlight, his eyes narrowing slightly.

He had read the script and was very familiar with it.

It told the story of a protagonist whose lover was murdered, leading him to seek revenge.

The murderer turned out to be his own brother, who was a teacher.

Isn't this the same tragic story that happened to Liang Zisu, the second character I play?
