Chapter 116: 116 Fang Xiaocao's Little Thoughts

Chapter 116: Chapter 116 Fang Xiaocao’s Little Thoughts

Fang Xiaocao did indeed come to the city bureau to report a crime.

However, it was not the fraud she had mentioned.

Instead, it was about a Wuling Hongguang that had been stolen.

And the loss of a room card!

Initially, Fang Xiaocao was improvising on a whim, thinking of a reason that a taxi driver couldn’t refuse, to quickly drive her away from the community’s entrance.

But on the taxi ride, it occurred to her that every action of hers was being secretly watched.

...

That was when Fang Xiaocao started to think about reporting to the police immediately.

Fang Xiaocao was afraid that the person in the shadows would use these things to set her up.

For instance…

Placing a dead body in room 508 of the hotel…

That would bring her a lot of trouble.

Although, an upright person doesn’t fear a crooked shadow.

But…

The problem was that she herself was not on the right track!

Tom was an assassin!

She couldn’t clear her name!

Fang Xiaocao had to resolve this trouble first.

By doing so, she could minimize her problems to the greatest extent.

At the city bureau, Fang Xiaocao had acquaintances.

Wang Qiang and Song Lin!

Having acquaintances has always made things smoother!

The ancients were sincere, and they didn’t deceive me!

Standing at the entrance of the city bureau, Fang Xiaocao dialed Wang Qiang’s cell phone.

After she briefly explained the situation, Wang Qiang hung up the phone.

Three minutes later, Wang Qiang stepped out from the city bureau and brought Fang Xiaocao inside.

After taking a simple statement, Wang Qiang had someone start an investigation on the matter.

“Officer Wang, may I leave now?”

Fang Xiaocao asked with a smile.

“You can leave now!”

“If there’s any update, contact me immediately.”

“We will immediately investigate the car’s trajectory, and we’ll also send someone to retrieve the hotel surveillance footage,”

Wang Qiang nodded and said solemnly.

“Got it, thank you, Officer Wang.”

“Then I’ll be going now.”

Fang Xiaocao said cheerily.

“Are you going back to the hotel?”

“If you’re going back, take one of our cars!”

Wang Qiang said with a smile.

“No, I still have some things to attend to.”

“Thanks, Officer Wang ha~”

Fang Xiaocao shook her head and politely declined.

“No problem at all!”

Wang Qiang said with a hearty laugh.

As she walked out of the city bureau, Fang Xiaocao stood in front of the bureau’s entrance, pausing to look around, her eyes scanning everywhere.

Fang Xiaocao was hoping to spot any suspicious individuals.

Previously, she did not realize that someone was tracking her, so she didn’t notice anything unusual. But now that she knew, she might be able to detect some clues.

Her eyes swept over everyone, her gaze flitting across each person’s face.

“Hiss~”

“Everyone looks suspicious…”

Fang Xiaocao muttered to herself in exasperation.

“Xiaocao?”

“Why are you still here?”

Just then, Wang Qiang’s voice came from behind Fang Xiaocao.

Fang Xiaocao was startled and exclaimed, “Good gracious!”

“Xiaocao, what’s wrong with you?”

Wang Qiang too was taken aback by Fang Xiaocao’s exaggerated reaction and looked at her suspiciously, asking in bewilderment.

“Nothing… it’s nothing.”

Fang Xiaocao blinked and replied.

“I was just lost in thought for a moment.”

Fang Xiaocao explained.

“Didn’t you say you had things to do?”

“Why did you end up daydreaming in front of the city bureau?”

Wang Qiang asked, perplexed.

Just as Fang Xiaocao was about to say something offhand to sidestep the topic, an idea suddenly struck her, and she had a bold thought.

“Heh heh…”

“Since you want to set me up, why can’t I cause you some trouble?”

Fang Xiaocao murmured to herself.

Thinking of this, Fang Xiaocao suddenly let out a wicked chuckle and spoke, “Officer Wang, is Han Xue still in the mental hospital?”

“Definitely there!”

“Why are you bringing her up all of a sudden?”

Hearing Fang Xiaocao’s words, Wang Qiang was taken aback and asked with confusion.

“I…”

“I think I just saw Han Xue…”

Fang Xiaocao pretended to say timidly.

“What?”

“Where?”

Wang Qiang exclaimed.

“Officer Wang, don’t get excited.”

“I’m not certain it was her.”

“She just flitted by for a moment, and she looked so much like Han Xue that I was staring in shock, but when you woke me up, she was gone when I looked for her again.”

Fang Xiaocao said weakly.

Fang Xiaocao’s goal was to lead Wang Qiang to investigate Han Xue and thus discover that Han Xue had escaped from the mental hospital.

“Are you sure you didn’t imagine it?”

Wang Qiang asked gravely, a frown on his face.

“I… I’m not certain…”

Fang Xiaocao said weakly again.

“However…”

“Officer Wang, why don’t you give the mental hospital a call to ask?”

Fang Xiaocao suggested, batting her eyes.

Upon hearing this, Wang Qiang nodded and said, “Okay, I’ll call and ask right now.”

Wang Qiang also felt that it was better to be on the safe side. After all, it was just a phone call. If it turned out to be true and his laziness led to some irreversible consequences, then the problem would be severe.

When Fang Xiaocao heard Wang Qiang’s words, she snickered silently, thinking to herself, “Success!”

“Heh heh…”

“Han Xue, go ahead and hide!”

“Let’s see how long you can hide!”

Fang Xiaocao’s purpose was simple, to give Han Xue some trouble.

Since Han Xue wanted to seek revenge on her, why would Fang Xiaocao indulge her?

Under Fang Xiaocao’s expectant gaze, Wang Qiang took out his cell phone, flipped through his contacts, and dialed a number.

“Hello, this is Wang Qiang from the Major Case Unit of the Criminal Investigation Team at the city bureau.”

Once the call connected, Wang Qiang spoke in a deep voice.

“Hello, what can I do for you?”

From the other end of the phone came a crisp female voice.

“A few days ago, we transferred a female psychiatric patient named Han Xue. We have a case here that might be related to her and need to question her over the phone. Could you please bring her over for questioning?”

Wang Qiang didn’t directly ask if Han Xue was there but instead made it look like they needed Han Xue’s cooperation for an investigation. This is why he asked the mental hospital to bring her for questioning.

Wang Qiang had his own ulterior motives. He feared the mental hospital might try to cover up their negligence by concealing the truth about any mismanagement and give him the run-around.

Thus, he concocted this excuse to secretly send someone to look for her.

“Okay, I need you to report your identification number for verification,” said the female operator from the hospital.

“My identification number is…”

“I personally oversaw Han Xue’s transfer. You can check the registration log for confirmation.” Wang Qiang reported his id number and said firmly.

“We’ll need to call the city bureau to verify, please hold on,” said the hospital woman sternly over the phone.

“Go ahead!”

“Your call would come to me anyway,” Wang Qiang said with a laugh.

“Ring ring ring…”

Before he finished speaking, Wang Qiang’s other phone started ringing.

“Hello, I am Wang Qiang from the Criminal Investigation Team!”

Wang Qiang glanced at the incoming number and pressed the answer button.

“Er…”

Simultaneously, a voice of astonishment came through both phones.

“So, can I go get her now?”

Wang Qiang smiled and said in a deep tone.

“Ah…”

“Yes, you can, just one moment.”
