Chapter 43 - 43 Han Xue: You Can’t Judge Me
Chapter 43: Chapter 43 Han Xue: You Can’t Judge Me
Fang Xiaocao and Yun Luoshu arrived upstairs and when they found Wen Shi, he was sleeping like a log, drooling from the corner of his mouth.
There was none of the panic they had imagined he might have upon waking up alone in the empty hospital room, bewildered and clueless.
“Sigh, it turns out we thought too much.”
Looking at Wen Shi’s sleeping posture, Fang Xiaocao sighed.
Yun Luoshu nodded in agreement.
“Let’s go, let’s carry the pig downstairs.”
Fang Xiaocao said helplessly.
Fang Xiaocao and Yun Luoshu hoisted Wen Shi up and headed to the downstairs ward.
When they got back to the downstairs ward, Su Wanqing was still crying.
Seeing this, Fang Xiaocao sighed helplessly and thought to herself, “This Tiger Girl must be terrified.”
…
Police Station!
Interrogation Room!
Han Xue leaned casually against the interrogation chair, her expression lazy as she watched the police officer, Wang Qiang, and the policewoman interrogating her.
“Han Xue, sit properly.”
The policewoman scolded her.
Han Xue lazily glanced at the policewoman and rolled her eyes.
“You…”
The policewoman pointed at Han Xue, about to scold her.
Wang Qiang waved his hand, signaling the policewoman to calm down.
Wang Qiang could tell that Han Xue was deliberately trying to provoke them.
“Han Xue, you cannot escape your crime.”
Wang Qiang said cheerfully.
Hearing Wang Qiang’s words, Han Xue glanced at him.
“Even if you do not cooperate with the interrogation, based on the existing evidence chain, we can still convict you.”
Wang Qiang said unconcernedly.
“Ha ha ha…”
Han Xue looked at Wang Qiang and scoffed coldly.
“What are you laughing at!”
Seeing Han Xue’s arrogant demeanor, the policewoman demanded.
Han Xue glanced at the policewoman again, still scoffing coldly.
“Don’t believe it?”
Wang Qiang gestured to the policewoman with a smile and asked.
“Officer Wang, you can’t convict me.”
Han Xue said with an amused smile.
Upon hearing this, Wang Qiang and the policewoman were taken aback. @@novelbin@@
“Why can’t we convict you?”
The policewoman asked angrily.
“Ha ha ha—”
“Why?”
“Just because I’m ‘sick’—”
Han Xue laughed manically, gasping for breath as she spoke.
“Han Xue, I think you’re mistaken.”
“Infectious diseases can’t help you escape punishment.”
Wang Qiang said with a smile.
“In our country’s laws, minors, pregnant women, and people over the age of 75 can be exempted from the death penalty unless their crimes are especially cruel leading to death, but they still can’t escape punishment.”
“Unfortunately, you are none of these, and your crime doesn’t warrant death, only imprisonment, so even if you were one of these three, you would still face the appropriate punishment.”
Wang Qiang cheerfully explained.
“In other words, even if you were pregnant.”
“You would still have to serve your sentence in prison.”
Wang Qiang said to Han Xue, stressing each word.
“Officer Wang, aren’t you forgetting one category?”
Han Xue looked at Wang Qiang with a playful smile.
At this, Wang Qiang’s smile stiffened, and he looked at Han Xue in surprise.
Han Xue blinked and smiled sweetly.
“We have professional appraisal institutions, and every year there are many who try this trick to avoid punishment, but no one has ever slipped through.”
“Even if the appraisal passes, you would be forcibly institutionalized, having to spend the rest of your life in a mental hospital!”
Wang Qiang stared at Han Xue, his tone cold.
“It doesn’t matter—”
“I am ‘sick’!”
Han Xue shrugged and laughed.
“A lifetime versus several years, or a dozen years, think it over.”
Wang Qiang stared into Han Xue’s eyes and spoke deliberately, pausing between each word.
“What do I think?”
“I don’t need to think about anything!”
“I admit I am sick,”
Han Xue said with a chuckle.
“Xiaoli, arrange for an assessment immediately.”
Wang Qiang suppressed his anger as he spoke to the female officer.
Since Han Xue had brought it up, Wang Qiang couldn’t ignore it. Today’s interrogation was bound not to end amicably.
“Take her back!”
Wang Qiang shouted and quickly walked out of the interrogation room.
“Team Leader!”
The female officer called out and hurriedly followed him.
“Ha ha ha~”
Behind them, Han Xue’s wanton, wild laughter echoed from the interrogation room.
“Team Leader!”
The female officer looked at Wang Qiang anxiously.
This was the first time she had seen Wang Qiang lose his composure during an interrogation since she had been transferred to the city bureau.
“I’m fine, immediately arrange for manpower to investigate Han Xue’s medical history, conduct some inquiry visits, check all her personal relationships, and her medicine purchase records. Since she wants to feign mental illness, let’s shatter her intentions with evidence.”
Wang Qiang put away the angry look on his face and spoke calmly.
Wang Qiang’s sudden change startled the female officer, who then smiled and responded, “Yes!”
“Team Leader Wang is really Team Leader Wang, acting like it’s the real deal.”
The female officer thought to herself, amused.
“Go quickly!”
Wang Qiang said helplessly.
“Yes!”
The female officer responded and hurried out of the office.
Wang Qiang sat in his chair and lit a cigarette.
He started to rethink everything about Han Xue.
Her cunningness seemed beyond her years.
The idea of using mental illness as an escape from crime isn’t uncommon and is thought of by many, typically those criminals with low intelligence and no common sense.
Real high-IQ criminals would never entertain such a childish thought.
They knew that, under professional assessments, the chances of successfully using mental illness as a defense are almost zero.
Although Han Xue’s crimes weren’t that of a high-IQ criminal, they were meticulously planned and carefully executed.
If not for her strong revenge motives that clouded her emotions and made her rush, she wouldn’t have been exposed so quickly.
Wang Qiang believed that if Han Xue hadn’t been so impatient, her revenge plan might have succeeded.
“What exactly are you relying on?”
“How can you be so confident of your success?”
Wang Qiang muttered to himself.
After quietly smoking a cigarette, Wang Qiang stepped out of the office.
Five minutes later, a police car drove out of the city bureau.
…
“Are you there?”
In the hospital room, Fang Xiaocao sent a message to Hot Noodles.
[Hot Noodles: Miss, what’s the matter?]
Seeing the reply from Hot Noodles, Fang Xiaocao laughed.
“Wow, holding such a grudge, huh?”
Fang Xiaocao sent another message laughing.
[Hot Noodles: How dare I?]
[Hot Noodles: What if Miss tries to be adventurous with me again?]
Fang Xiaocao pouted and murmured, “Worthy of the future me, just as vengeful.”
“Okay, don’t be mad.”
“It turned out fine, didn’t it?”
Fang Xiaocao also added a placating emoticon.
[Hot Noodles: Don’t even, don’t you know?]
[Hot Noodles: Didn’t I tell you that I experience all the consequences of your choices in advance?]
[Hot Noodles: Just from your recent decision, I’ve died twice already!]
[Hot Noodles: If it happens a few more times, even if you don’t kill me, I’ll end up driven to insanity sooner or later!]
Looking at the message from Hot Noodles, Fang Xiaocao grinned and stuck out her tongue.
“I’ll be more careful next time, promise~”
Fang Xiaocao tried to act coy with herself.
What do you think?
