I Received Messages From Future Self!

Chapter 48 - 48 Axi!

Chapter 48: Chapter 48 Axi!

Fang Xiaocao was now eager to know the names of the three people she needed to be cautious of.

In a very short amount of time, she had thought a lot.

She had come with Zhi Qi for a project inspection.

Since it was an inspection, it was normal to encounter other people.

Since Zhi Qi was conducting an inspection, there would definitely be a reception.

There could also be people from other companies or organizations who would join the mountain inspection and evaluation.

So, Fang Xiaocao analyzed that after entering the mountain, two possibilities could occur.

One was that she would only encounter these three people.

In that case, Fang Xiaocao just needed to be mindful of them alone.

The other possibility was encountering a lot of people.

If that was the case…

Without knowing their names, Fang Xiaocao had to prepare for a CPU overload.

[Contact does not exist!]

“Wang Defa?”

Looking at the “Contact does not exist” notification, Fang Xiaocao’s eyes widened like bells.

“Always fails at the critical moment,”

Fang Xiaocao grumbled irritably.

Fang Xiaocao decided to just give up where she was.

She threw her phone onto the bed and flopped down beside it.

Tang City!

Suburbs!

Axi hid behind the curtains, peering through the gap with a sullen expression at the outside.

“I’m being watched…”

Axi muttered to himself.

“It must be that cop named Song Lin,”

Axi sneaked back into the room, sneering softly.

Axi walked to the bed, bent over, stuck out his butt, and stretched his tiny arms, struggling to search for something under the bed.

Being a child, his arms were too short.

The item was hidden too deep, making his actions look somewhat comical.

“Found it!”

Suddenly, Axi’s eyes lit up.

A dusty, old shoebox was hauled out from under the bed by Axi.

Axi held the shoebox as if cradling a treasure.

He carefully placed it on the bed.

He didn’t care that the bedsheet got dirty from the dust.

Opening the shoebox, he revealed the hidden contents.

A handgun, a grenade, a bundle of explosive cord.

If Song Lin knew that Axi had these three items, he would surely break out in a cold sweat.

Looking at the weapons inside the shoebox, Axi’s lips curled into a sinister smile.

“This time, you shouldn’t be able to escape, right?”

“Since you can’t escape, let’s take down a few more with us!”

Axi murmured.

Axi picked up the gun, expertly chambered a round, and adopted an aiming stance.

These weapons had been accumulated by Axi over twenty years, traveling from place to place, through a series of coincidences.

After carefully checking that the gun would fire smoothly, Axi picked up the grenade and pocketed it.

He hesitated for a moment while gazing at the bundle of explosive cord, then closed the shoebox.

“Let’s deal with that cop first!”

Axi pocketed the gun and walked out of the room.

Entering the living room, an old woman was cooking in the kitchen.

An old man was watching the news and drinking tea.

Axi coldly eyed the elderly couple as if they were two corpses, his eyes gleaming with a wolf-like bloodthirst.

The next second, Axi’s expression switched to reveal the innocent side of a child.

After over twenty years of acting, Axi had perfected his expression management.

The seamless switch between bloodthirsty and innocent was truly of an Academy Award level!

Axi walked to the door and opened it.

“My dear grandson, come and eat〜”

Hearing the sound of the door, the old woman called out from the kitchen.

“I want a drink. Go to the store to buy it.”

Axi replied casually.

“Drinking that stuff all the time isn’t good for your health.”

The old woman shouted.

“If the child wants to drink, let him.”

The old man said cheerfully.

“Dear grandson, do you have enough money?”

“Here, grandpa will give you some.”

The old man said, smiling at Axi. @@novelbin@@

“I have enough!”

Axi said before running out of the house.

“You always spoil him!”

The old woman’s complaining voice came from inside the house.

Axi snickered and walked out of the yard.

In the car!

Song Lin immediately noticed Axi’s appearance.

Song Lin glanced through the car window at the house windows, saw that the elderly couple was alright, and breathed a sigh of relief.

Just now, Song Lin had received a message.

There was indeed a record of a little boy named Axi being adopted from the orphanage.

By comparing an old photo kept by the orphanage with Axi in front of him, except for the age difference, they were extremely similar in other aspects.

Only, the boy in the photo was thinner and darker, like an ugly duckling, whereas the current Axi was plump and pale, like a lucky doll.

“Did he become plump in middle age?”

A thought flashed through Song Lin’s mind.

Watching Axi turn into a small path, Song Lin’s mind stirred, and he subconsciously pushed open the car door and followed.

Once doubt had taken root in his heart about someone, all their actions, seen through tinted glasses, seemed highly suspicious and worthy of doubt.

Song Lin followed Axi, wandering around the village.

Axi continued further off the beaten path, gradually walking out of the village.

Song Lin frowned tightly. The moment Axi left the village, he stopped walking and ceased his pursuit.

“Better to lose than awaken him!”

Song Lin muttered as he watched Axi’s departing figure.

Taking out his phone, he began drafting a message.

“Compare the photo provided by the orphanage with that of the victim’s son to see how likely they are to be the same person.”

“Accelerate the investigation, prioritize the medical records of the two victims to check for any infertility history, and determine as soon as possible whether the victims have any birth or adoption records.”

“Have the forensic doctor perform another autopsy on the female victim to look for signs of childbirth.”

After finishing the message, Song Lin clicked send.

Song Lin put away his phone and turned back the way he had come.

After Song Lin left, Axi came out from behind the locust tree at the back of the village.

“Quite vigilant…”

Axi muttered to himself.

Putting the gun back in his pocket, Axi circled around outside the village and re-entered the village through the village entrance.

It was just a close call!

If Song Lin had followed him out of the village, Axi would have pulled the trigger and ended Song Lin with a single shot.

Unfortunately…

Song Lin’s vigilance had foiled Axi’s plan.

Axi passed by the store, casually bought a bottle of drink, and mimicking a child’s demeanor, he bounced happily toward his home.

Seeing this, Song Lin was taken aback.

“Was it just to buy a drink?”

Watching Axi hopping back home, a hint of confusion flickered in Song Lin’s eyes.

Opening his phone’s navigation, he located his position, looking at the village’s street layout and the location of the store, Song Lin was surprised to find that circling from behind the village to the entrance to go to the store was actually a shorter route than going directly.

“Was I really overthinking it?”

Song Lin muttered, puzzled.

Back home, Axi placed the drink on the coffee table and returned to his room. He came to the window and, peeking through the gap in the curtains, secretly observed Song Lin.

“If you don’t leave tonight, today will be your end!”

Axi sneered as he muttered.

“Dear grandson, it’s time to eat~”

The old woman’s voice came from the living room.

Axi withdrew his gaze, moved back to the bedside, and replied, “Coming~”
