Chapter 60: Chapter 60 Deviant Memory, Hard to Distinguish True from False
“Xiaocao, Xiaocao, how are you?”
Many familiar voices surrounded me.
Fang Xiaocao struggled to open her eyes, and the faces of Zhi Qi and the others came into view.
“Damn it–”
With a cry of alarm, Fang Xiaocao suddenly sat up.
The abrupt movement scared Zhi Qi and the rest, leaving everyone dumbfounded and staring at Fang Xiaocao blankly.
“Where’s that guy with scars all over his face?”
Fang Xiaocao looked around frantically, clutching Zhi Qi’s hand, and asked in panic.
“Monster?”
“What monster?”
Upon hearing Fang Xiaocao’s words, Zhi Qi asked with a puzzled face.
At that, Fang Xiaocao paused.
When she looked at Zhi Qi, she saw nothing but puzzlement on his face.
Looking at the others, they too had peculiar expressions as they watched her.
“Hmm?”
Fang Xiaocao hummed in confusion.
“What’s going on?”
Fang Xiaocao was full of suspicions.
“Everyone’s reaction is so weird.”
“It’s like they don’t know about the Scar-faced Monster.”
“Could it be that Luoshu didn’t tell them?”
Fang Xiaocao murmured doubtfully to herself.
“Right!”
“Luoshu!”
“She must be the one who saved me!”
The thought of Yun Luoshu brought a glint to Fang Xiaocao’s eyes.
The others hadn’t seen the Scar-faced Monster, but Yun Luoshu must have, considering how close she was.
“Where’s Luoshu?”
“Where is Luoshu?”
Fang Xiaocao struggled to get up and began to search for Yun Luoshu’s tall figure.
But oddly, Yun Luoshu was nowhere to be found!
A sense of foreboding quietly rose in her heart.
“Where’s Luoshu?”
Fang Xiaocao looked at Zhi Qi and asked in a grave voice.
“Could something have happened to Luoshu?”
“If nothing’s wrong, where else could she have gone?”
In an instant, Fang Xiaocao’s imagination concocted an array of strange and unpredictable scenarios.
“Luoshu…”
When it came to Yun Luoshu, Zhi Qi stuttered a bit.
“What happened to Luoshu?”
“Hurry up and tell me!”
Seeing this, Fang Xiaocao grabbed Zhi Qi’s sleeve and asked anxiously.
“Xiaocao, don’t get worked up.”
“Luoshu is fine.”
“Just listen to me, let me explain slowly.”
Zhi Qi took Fang Xiaocao’s hand, trying to soothe her.
“Oh, come on–”
“Just tell me, what happened to Luoshu?”
“I’m about to die of worry here!”
Fang Xiaocao shouted anxiously.
“Okay, okay, I’ll tell you, is that okay?”
“But could you calm down a little, please?”
Zhi Qi said helplessly.
“Yeah, okay.”
Fang Xiaocao nodded in agreement.
She was desperate to know what had happened to Yun Luoshu.
Why had she returned to the camp?
And what was the deal with the Scar-faced Monster?
Seeing that Fang Xiaocao had calmed down, Zhi Qi and the others let out a sigh of relief.
“Yun Luoshu is injured!” Zhi Qi finally said.
Hearing Zhi Qi’s words, Fang Xiaocao felt like she had been struck by lightning.
Her first thought was that it was the doing of the Scar-faced Monster.
“Was Luoshu hurt by the Scar-faced Monster?” she blurted out without thinking.
Upon hearing Fang Xiaocao’s words, Zhi Qi and the others all looked at her with odd expressions.
Seeing their looks, Fang Xiaocao was taken aback once more.
“Why are you all looking at me like that?” she asked, puzzled.
Ever since she woke up, Fang Xiaocao felt that there was something off about Zhi Qi and the others.
“Xiaocao, there is no Scar-faced Monster,” Zhi Qi said with resignation.
“We’ve asked Luoshu, and she didn’t see anyone,” added Su Wanqing from the side.
“How is that possible?”
Fang Xiaocao shouted.
“If there was no Scar-faced Monster, how did Luoshu get hurt?”
Fang Xiaocao stared at Zhi Qi and the others, questioning them.
“Luoshu…”
“Luoshu was stabbed by you with a knife!”
Zhi Qi hesitated for a moment before speaking up.
“What did you say?”
Zhi Qi exclaimed in shock.
“It’s true!”
Su Wanqing grabbed Fang Xiaocao’s hand, speaking softly.
“I don’t believe it…”
“I want to see Luoshu, I want to hear it from her own mouth.”
Fang Xiaocao shook off Su Wanqing’s hand, not retreating, and pulled away from Zhi Qi and the others, watching them warily.
“Xiaocao, calm down a bit!”
Zhi Qi shouted with furrowed brows.
“We can let you see Luoshu!”
“But you must calm down!”
“Otherwise, we’re afraid you might hurt Luoshu again.”
Zhi Qi spoke with a grave expression.
Upon hearing this, Fang Xiaocao was taken aback.
She stared blankly at Zhi Qi.
At that moment, in Fang Xiaocao’s eyes, Zhi Qi and the others somehow seemed strangers.
“You…”
“What do you mean?”
Fang Xiaocao asked in a heavy voice.
“Literally what it means, your mental state is unstable.”
Wan Xiaozhou played with a stick, speaking solemnly.
Fang Xiaocao looked towards Wan Xiaozhou.
Suddenly, her gaze sharpened.
The bundle of firewood at Wan Xiaozhou’s feet was collected by her.
The scarf tied around the bundle of firewood was hers!
“No, this isn’t right!”
“There’s a problem!”
“There must be a problem!”
Fang Xiaocao internally cried out.
Since the firewood she had collected was there, the Scar-faced Monster she had seen must exist.
But why would Zhi Qi and the others deny it?
And claim that Yun Luoshu was stabbed by her?
She clearly remembered that the Scar-faced Monster had approached her, and then she lost consciousness.
Fang Xiaocao was now desperate to know what exactly had happened after she fainted.
“Huff…”
Fang Xiaocao exhaled, trying to manage her expression to appear more normal.
After being silent for a while, Fang Xiaocao spoke:
“Alright, I’m fine now.”
“Can you take me to see Luoshu now?”
Zhi Qi and the others exchanged a look and nodded to each other.
Zhi Qi nodded, looked at Fang Xiaocao, and said, “We can!”
When Fang Xiaocao heard Zhi Qi agree, she felt a surge of relief.
“Follow me, Luoshu is in the tent!”
Zhi Qi said softly.
Fang Xiaocao nodded and followed Zhi Qi towards the tent.
The small tent was filled with the scent of blood.
Fang Xiaocao subconsciously frowned.
Looking up at Yun Luoshu, she saw that Yun Luoshu’s left arm was bandaged with gauze, and she lay on the sleeping bag, pale-faced.
Next to Yun Luoshu, Fang Xiaocao’s spring knife lay quietly on the ground, its sharp blade stained with a dark red blood mark.
Seeing this scene, Fang Xiaocao was stunned.
“Could it really be me who stabbed Luoshu?”
Fang Xiaocao muttered doubtfully in her mind.
“Luoshu?” @@novelbin@@
“You…”
Fang Xiaocao stepped forward and called out softly.
“Xiaocao, are you awake?”
Yun Luoshu smiled weakly and said.
“Luoshu, what exactly happened?”
Fang Xiaocao moved closer to Yun Luoshu and asked softly.
Yun Luoshu glanced at the spring knife on the ground and said with a smile, “While we were collecting firewood, there came a strange noise from deep in the woods…”
Listening to Yun Luoshu’s story, Fang Xiaocao was dumbfounded.
In Yun Luoshu’s account, everything up to a certain point matched her own memory.
But when the moment of the Scar-faced Monster’s appearance came, Yun Luoshu’s story deviated from Fang Xiaocao’s memory.
There was no mention of the Scar-faced Monster in Yun Luoshu’s account!
Instead…
At that moment, Fang Xiaocao suddenly screamed, turned around, and with the spring knife in her hand, fiercely stabbed at Yun Luoshu.
Luckily, Yun Luoshu reacted quickly and avoided a critical hit.
The spring knife only penetrated Yun Luoshu’s left arm.
What do you think?
