I Received System to Become Dragonborn

Chapter 719: Doubt

From above, Veyna watched, her frown deepening as she observed the battlefield. Below her, the clash between Erend and Laston sent tremors through the tower, shaking the towering structures that had long since fallen under Laston’s dominion.

The air crackled with a lot of energy, remnants of Magic and technology colliding in sheer destructive force.

Her sharp eyes locked onto Laston as his form shifted, the black metallic plates of his armor adapting in real time. That wasn’t just nano-metal, this was something more.

It was Laston’s personal armor, infused with the energy he had called Magic plus the nano metal technology. The very force that had allowed them to seize control of this city in the first place. @@novelbin@@

Veyna exhaled slowly, fists tightening at her side. So, he was serious now. So Dredge was not exaggerating.

She had seen Laston toy with countless enemies before. When he fought Aerchon and his team, he hadn’t even bothered with his full arsenal. Just enough to overwhelm them, to remind them of their place.

But now? Now, he had activated the true form of his armor, its flowing metallic sheen laced with flickering streams of Magic, shaping itself to counter every move Erend made.

So maybe that beast really was that strong.

Her gaze shifted to Erend, who stood amid the crumbling battlefield like an unshaken monolith of black and red. Smoke and fire wreathed his frame, his red-black scales pulsing.

Laston had hit him with a lot thus far but still, the beast called the Dragonborn barely looked fazed. If anything, the look in his eyes was one of intrigue, not fear.

Veyna’s lips pressed into a thin line. The reports she had read described Dragonborn as a powerful warriors who wielded destruction. But now she finally managed to see it firsthand. She have to admit that that beast was something else.

Below, the battle keep on going.

Laston moved to first. His armor reshaping itself in constant response to Erend’s attacks. His cannons shifted form, the barrels narrowing as they charged a new type of energy. This energy was designed to counter Magic itself.

The tendrils at his back spread wide, forming an array of weapons all locked onto the Dragonborn. Stay tuned for updates on NovelBin.Côm

Erend had distanced himself from Laston and now stopped moving for a while. He stood his ground as if taunting for Laston to launch his strongest attack, his gaze scanning Laston’s armor with keen interest.

Veyna’s frown deepened. That was dangerous.

She had seen warriors panic when faced with Laston’s full power. She had seen them flee and seen them break. But she had never seen someone observe him like this like they were studying a puzzle rather than fighting for their life.

And worse, there was something in the way Erend held himself now. He was calm and lmost amused by what Laston had.

Veyna exhaled sharply. If Laston had truly found an opponent who could push him to this extent, then things were about to become far more dangerous than she had anticipated.

"Maybe I should get ready too?" Veyna asked herself.

For now she remained where she was, arms crossed, watching the battle unfold with sharp and calculating eyes. Dredge had already gone to receive his enhancements — whatever improvements he could manage in such a short amount of time — but was that even necessary? Was Laston really in danger of losing?

She doubted it.

Even now, as Laston engaged the so-called Dragonborn in full force, Veyna found it difficult to believe that anyone could challenge him seriously.

Laston had conquered this city with nothing but his power and his mind, bringing even the most stubborn resistance to its knees. A single opponent, no matter how strange or powerful, shouldn’t change that. Unless this one really was something different.

Laston had locked onto Erend, his targeting system adjusting in real time as his armor calculated the best angle of attack. The energy core within his cannons pulsed, charging rapidly before unleashing a concentrated beam of raw destruction.

It wasn’t just any attack, it was designed to disintegrate and erase anything in its path.

And yet, instead of dodging, Erend simply grinned.

Veyna felt a flicker of surprise. The Dragonborn stood motionless, his stance loose, his expression almost eager as he watched the incoming blast. Was he insane? Or did he truly believe he could withstand that?

The beams struck.

A deafening explosion tore through the battlefield, obliterating the area where Erend had stood.

The sheer force of it sent shockwaves rippling outward, shattering pavement and reducing entire sections of the street to molten rubble.

The blast continued for a full ten seconds until finally, the cannons powered down, the energy surge dissipating into the air.

All that remained was smoke and the battlefield was silent for a moment.

Veyna tilted her head slightly and waiting. The air still crackled with residual energy and the heat from the blast warped the very atmosphere. She had seen this attack reduce stronger foes to nothing. She could almost see the Dragonborn become ash.

Suddenly she saw a spark from the smoke.

Her sharp eyes caught it immediately.

Within the dissipating smoke, something glowed a deep fiery red. Embers drifted through the air, swirling within the destruction. Then, a gust of force blew the smoke apart, revealing a menacing shadow standing in the crater.

Erend.

His figure emerged completely unscathed. His red-black scales pulsed, absorbing the last traces of energy from the blast.

Then he let out a low chuckle.

"Not bad, Laston. That’s actually pretty strong," he said. "But I’m also had become stronger this past years."

Before Veyna could even process it, Erend moved.

The ground beneath him shattered as he launched forward, a crimson blur cutting through the air. The heat trailing from his scales ignited the air around him.

Laston’s systems reacted instantly. His armor adjusted, preparing countermeasures. He deploying barriers and activating another barrage of energy blasts.

But Erend was already upon him.

A blazing fist crashed into Laston’s frame, an explosion of force rippling outward on impact. The nano-metal armor bent and cracked beneath the sheer strength behind the blow, sending Laston hurtling backward through the air.

Veyna’s breath caught.

Impossible. This was indeed no ordinary opponent.

And for the first time, as she watched Laston skid across the battlefield, Veyna felt the first seed of doubt creep into her mind.
