Chapter 402: A New House
Jake, Jill, and Stella boarded the flying car, and within moments, the vehicle gently rose into the atmosphere. Suddenly, it accelerated, soaring at high speed, gradually disappearing from Zamira and Zagrath's sight. Zamira and Zagrath watched the car until it faded beyond the horizon, each letting out a heavy sigh.
Inside the car, Jake gazed at the cities and buildings below, imagining how they would look once he transformed the vampire planet. With a quiet sigh, he settled back into his seat, enjoying the ride.
After some time, they arrived at the teleport station. As usual, it was quiet, with only a few people present. This time, the station was clean and well-maintained, like others of its kind. Jake had ordered all teleport stations to be properly cared for, assigning workers to ensure their upkeep.
Jake, Jill, and Stella walked toward the teleporter, waving at Carter before stepping inside. As they entered, they felt the familiar disorienting sensation that always accompanied teleportation.
In seconds, the scent of a familiar place greeted them—they were back on Earth. Unlike the vampire planet, Earth's teleport station was bustling, with crowds of diverse races using the massive teleporters.
'Soon. Very soon, the vampire planet will look better than this,' Jake thought, taking Stella's hand as she stared around, fascinated by items moving through the teleporters. Jill followed as they headed out of the station.
As they approached the station's exit, security guards stopped them.
"Excuse me, may we see your IDs?" one guard asked politely.
Unbothered, Jake pretended to reach into his pocket, though he was actually searching his inventory for his ID card.
'Where did I put that ID?' he thought. Jill searched her space ring for her and Stella's IDs, but Jake found his first and handed it to the guard.
The guard examined it, entering the code into a handheld device. His eyes widened, and he quickly returned the card to Jake.
"You may go. No need to show your IDs again," the guard said, motioning for Jill to stop searching.
'Why the odd reaction?' Jake wondered as he stepped outside with Jill and Stella.
Outside, they stood in the station's park. Jake could have flown into the sky with Jill and Stella, but flying was prohibited on station grounds.
"Didn't Misty say she'd be he—" Jill started, only to be interrupted as a black Bachmay screeched to a stop inches away from them. The car's windows rolled down, revealing Misty and Aurora inside.
The doors swung open, and Misty and Aurora rushed out, tackling Jake with such force that he fell to the ground. Even on the ground, they hugged and kissed him, breathing in his familiar scent.
"We missed you, you foolish husband! Why were you gone so long?" Misty said, holding him tightly.
Aurora said nothing, only clinging to Jake. She wasn't talkative, but Jake understood the depth of her emotions.
Using his strength, Jake stood, carrying the two women who refused to let go. He glanced at Jill, who stood with her arms crossed.
"Looks like you're driving us home," Jake said with a smile.
"Hmph. She didn't even greet her own mother," Jill muttered, getting into the driver's seat and starting the car as Jake guided the two women and Stella inside.
Jill drove off, heading toward what she thought was their home.
"We actually moved to the new house we bought in District A," Misty said suddenly, noticing Jill was driving toward their old place.
"When did that happen?" Jill asked, surprised.
"A while ago. We had to move since the previous house couldn't contain us anymore. You know it was originally meant for just Jake and me, and our two unborn beautiful kids. But with how things turned out… we needed more space," Misty explained.
"I see…" Jill muttered.
"Don't worry, Mom. I renovated the old place and raised the rent. That area's a lot safer now, so we're getting good tenants and they're paying well. I've made you a lot of money," Misty said, smiling.
But Jill let out a sigh. "All that money for what? I don't even care about money like I used to. I worked hard for you and Jake before, but now you two are doing better than me financially. I just want to see everyone happy."
Then, turning her attention, she asked, "By the way, Aurora, how's your supermarket doing?"
Since coming back to Earth, Jill had somewhat slipped back into mom mode.
"Well, my supermarket's one of the biggest in District A now," Aurora replied, her tone a little lower. "Though I do get a lot of hate from some locals. You know… being a vampire-owned business. My workers get harassed, so I hired a bunch of humans too. Either way, sales are good."
"Hmm. Husband," Misty said, glancing at Jake from the corner of her eye, "everyone's waiting for you at home—including your sneaky link."
She smirked. "She told me everything. I can't believe you did that on our wedding day."
"So unruly," Aurora added, crossing her arms.
Jake's mind instantly flashed to Elza—the weird subclass he had tamed with a slave blood bond.
'To think she actually tracked me to the house…'
"What's that about?" Jill asked, sensing the shift in atmosphere.
"Well," Misty began with a tight smile, "our dear husband has a sneaky link. Not just any sneaky link— she is an actual abomination. She gives me the creeps."
"I don't get it… how bad could she be?" Jill asked, still trying to piece things together.
"She's a half-vampire, half-demon," Aurora answered flatly.
"Oh," Jill said, her lips forming a perfect 'O' as she eyed Jake in the rearview mirror. "So basically, another Stella?"
"Hell no! Stella is way better than her. That girl's on a whole other level of creepy," Misty and Aurora said in unison.
"Wait, am I bothering you guys that you're comparing me to someone?" Stella asked out of nowhere.
"No—don't get us wrong, Stella. We like you," Misty said quickly. "We're just saying she's strange… like you're strange, y'know, being a draugh."
Whatever that meant, Stella nodded slowly as if she understood, scratching the back of her head.
Soon after, they arrived at the new house—a grand mansion towering with presence. It was fully fenced, with armed security at the gates. As Jill approached, the gates opened, and they drove into the estate.
What do you think?
