Chapter 29: Chapter 29 Aftermath of the Explosion [Please Follow!]
Outside, the dilapidated room 301 had, from start to finish, not attracted any Abnormality.
Whether it was the Abnormalities living in the dormitory or the Security Guards patrolling the grounds, even the higher-ups of Crimson Preferred had never seen it.
It seemed the commotion here went unnoticed.
…
All was quiet through the night.
“Ding Ling Ling~~~!”
“Ding Ling Ling~~~!”
At half-past five in the morning, Mu Rufeng’s alarm clock rang on time.
“Yawn~~! I had a comfortable sleep,” Mu Rufeng got up, rubbing his eyes and yawning.
There was still some noise outside, but Mu Rufeng didn’t care.
After getting up, Mu Rufeng went to the balcony.
He glanced at the bathroom but didn’t go in.
For some reason, he felt as if he no longer needed the cycle of grains.
Since entering this instance world, about 22 hours had passed without any urge to pee or defecate.
Clearly, this was a convenience brought by the zombie physique.
Mu Rufeng approached the washbasin and turned on the tap.
After a while, there was no response.
There was no water here.
“Forget it, I’ll go to the cafeteria and get some water from the vending machine to wash my face,” Mu Rufeng shook his head and went straight out of the dorm.
When Mu Rufeng left the bedroom, rooms 302 and 304 across the way still looked the same as before.
However, a large number of Abnormalities had gathered here.
These were the Abnormality staff living in the dormitory, all of them chattering away.
“I mean, what on earth happened yesterday? It was such a huge ruckus.”
“Yeah, that explosion shook the whole building a few times and even knocked me off the bed.”
“I was hunting outside last night, then I ran into a patrolling Security Guard and fled back to the dormitory, right before it exploded. It nearly scared me to death.”
“It seems like the Dormitory Manager was fighting with an Abnormality, but I don’t know who won.”
The crowd of Abnormalities was engaged in heated discussions.
When the door of room 301 opened, it didn’t attract anyone’s attention.
All their focus was on the room where the explosion had occurred.
These Abnormalities seemed not to belong to this floor; either they were from upstairs or downstairs.
And the Abnormalities living on this floor seemed to have gone to the dining hall at five o’clock.
“Excuse me, please make way.”
“Pardon me, coming through,” Mu Rufeng politely said to the crowded Abnormalities.
“Get lost, or I’ll swallow you whole,” one pig-headed Abnormality barked.
“A living person? You’re still not dead? If you’re not dead, then be quiet and stop pushing,” another Abnormality scolded.
“Make way for me!”
Mu Rufeng pulled out a kitchen knife and chopped at the door of room 303.
With a “thud,” the knife sliced right into the door panel.
This action by Mu Rufeng instantly stunned everyone.
That was a dormitory door, which even the Dormitory Manager struggled to break, and yet it was effortlessly cut open?
And that kitchen knife, why did it look so familiar? Isn’t that the knife that used to be stuck in Knife Ghost’s head?
The Knife Ghost was killed by this living person?
In an instant, these Abnormalities thought a lot and then, one by one, they backed away, opening up a passageway. @@novelbin@@
“Give them an inch, and they’ll take a mile. Spoiling them is the problem,” muttered Mu Rufeng coldly as he sheathed his knife and briskly walked toward the staircase.
Mu Rufeng found that his temper seemed to have gotten more irritable.
“Is it because of the blood I absorbed last night?” Mu Rufeng murmured.
Having consumed so much energy and blood the previous night, combined with the influence of his zombie physique, had caused a slight change in Mu Rufeng’s character.
Soon, Mu Rufeng descended the stairs.
It was at this moment that a group of abnormal figures, each wearing a safety helmet and dressed in uniform, entered the dormitory building from the front gate.
Mu Rufeng passed by the group.
He guessed that these people had likely come to deal with the matters on the third floor.
A few minutes later, Mu Rufeng arrived at the cafeteria.
It was 5:40 a.m., peak breakfast time, so the cafeteria was bustling with activity.
Most of the aberrations were discussing the events of the previous night.
Even Mu Rufeng’s entry into the cafeteria only attracted the gaze of a few aberrants.
Quickly, Mu Rufeng approached the vending machine.
The machine turned on punctually at five o’clock, so when Mu Rufeng arrived, it jolted to life.
“Eh, recovered so quickly? And even the sold-out items have been restocked?” Mu Rufeng expressed his surprise.
The vending machine no longer bore its previous damaged appearance, and astonishingly, even the items that Mu Rufeng had bought out were replenished once more.
“Good morning, big brother, take a look, what would you like to eat?”
“We’ve got instant noodles, bread, and fresh milk,” the vending machine displayed an ingratiating expression.
Its hands stretched out, ready to provide Mu Rufeng with anything he needed.
“Okay, then, prepare me one of each flavor of instant noodles, add a few pieces of bread to fill my stomach, and give me a liter of milk,” commanded Mu Rufeng.
“No problem, at all.”
The vending machine successfully diverted the subject and began to prepare Mu Rufeng’s breakfast with eagerness.
“Oh, and get me a bottle of water first,” added Mu Rufeng.
Quickly, a bottle of mineral water was opened by Mu Rufeng.
He poured a bit onto his hand and then wiped it across his face.
After repeating this a few times and using it as a mouth rinse, half the bottle was gone.
Mu Rufeng didn’t waste any; he finished the remaining water in one go.
After consuming three or four pieces of bread, the vending machine came over with the prepared instant noodles.
“Your noodles are ready, big brother,” said the vending machine with a fawning expression.
“Mhm,” Mu Rufeng responded.
Just then, a tall and robust abnormal figure approached Mu Rufeng’s table.
With a loud “bang,” a bowl and plate were slammed down onto the table.
“I heard another living person showed up yesterday and thought you wouldn’t survive the night. Turns out you actually made it,” the figure stated.
“I haven’t had my fill yet for breakfast. Since you and the vending machine are so chummy, have it grab me a few packs of jerky and meat paste bread,” the figure demanded.
The aberration was at least two meters tall, heavily muscled, all sinew and brawn.
But instead of a human head, it had a horse’s head atop its shoulders.
It was the spitting image of Horse Face Ghost, the Underworld Messenger from the legends.
Horse Face Ghost sat opposite Mu Rufeng, its large horse eyes looking sardonically at him.
Upon hearing this, Mu Rufeng looked up at Horse Face Ghost and said flatly, “I’ve seen many beggars, but never one as audacious as you. Stay where you belong.”
“Huh?” Horse Face Ghost’s mocking look suddenly went blank.
After regaining his wits, a surge of anger welled up inside him.
A mere mortal, a speck fit only to serve as Blood Food, dared to speak to him in such a manner.
“Hehe, kid, you’ve got a sharp tongue, but that’s okay. I like to eat people with sharp tongues. Cackle, cackle, cackle…”
What do you think?
