Chapter 41 – Vampires!
Loder spoke with an unusual clarity, as if more lucid than ever before.
Moved, Cecil clung to his leg and wept, "Cousin, I'm sorry for criticizing you earlier, cousin!"
"Haha, a prisoner like you wants to negotiate with me?"
Lin Tian showed no mercy, chopping off one of Cecil's legs and roasting it.
The paralysis numbed the pain, but the gruesome sight made Cecil faint from fear.
A sinister smile curved on Loder's face, "Listen to me, what if you let him go? The family will surely send many to rescue me."
"Are you out of your mind? What nonsense are you spouting?"
Lin Tian looked at him coldly.
He felt Loder's mind had completely snapped.
Suddenly, Loder became agitated, "Out of my mind? You could kill more people! Devour more strong ones! Kill them all! I'll help you do it!"
"Are you serious?"
Lin Tian asked skeptically.
Loder laughed maniacally, "They all deserve to die! Every single one of them! They sent this useless fool instead of an army to save me, so they deserve to die! And that bitch, I'll help you kill her too if I can!"
"Alright, I believe you. Ifreya, treat this guy."
Lin Tian agreed immediately.
He ordered Ifreya to come over and treat Cecil.
Then he walked to the furnace, picked up the roasted leg, and tossed it in front of Loder like feeding a dog.
"This is your reward."
A flash of murderous intent flickered in Loder's eyes, different from his usual demeanor.
He quickly resumed his act, gnawing on the leg, "Delicious! Delicious!"
"Boss, isn't this like letting a tiger back into the wild? Our location is exposed."
Leah voiced her concern.
Lin Tian gestured to silence her, "Don't you trust me?"
"I understand."
Leah said no more.
Finally, they arranged for a few goblins to carry Cecil out and dump him in the forest.
---
Bright Town.
Everyone knew Cecil and his team had gone to exterminate goblins.
They were all waiting for good news.
In the tavern, people drank and chatted.
Someone joked, "It's been so long without news, did they all get wiped out? Hahaha."
"I'd sooner believe a goblin could knock me out than believe they'd all get wiped out."
"Just a joke, though it’s unlikely, you never know."
"If a team of two Diamond Rank adventurers lost, we might as well pack up and leave."@@novelbin@@
No one believed such a thing could happen.
Goblins, even the high-intelligence ones, were still goblins.
They couldn't stir up much trouble.
For centuries, goblin kings had been repeatedly slain.
The image of weak goblins was deeply ingrained in human minds.
The Wandering Brave said, "Don't think the Sword Saintess lost; she only lost to herself. A group of goblins is no pressure for Diamond Rank adventurers, at least not for me."
"Bang!"
At that moment, the tavern door was violently pushed open.
A bald man in simple leather armor rushed in, excitedly shouting, "It's over! It's over! They're all dead!"
"What do you mean, 'over'? Calm down!"
The tavern owner cursed; that was his door!
The bald man panted, "I just saw Cecil return, missing a leg, in a terrible state! He rode a carnivorous horse out of Bright Town, heading towards the capital!"
"What!"
Everyone's faces changed!
Cecil of the Blizzard Brave squad! A young noble prodigy.
He actually lost!
The tavern owner found it hard to believe, "The Blizzard formation can withstand an army of thousands. Are you sure you saw correctly in this dark night?"
"I'm sure. I even asked him what happened!"
The bald man took a deep breath and continued, "He said they're all dead. Those goblins are demons. Don't go there, then he rode off in a hurry."
At that moment.
The entire tavern fell into dead silence!
Such goblins existed, beyond their imagination.
They finally understood why the Sword Saintess had suffered.
The Wandering Brave couldn't help but exclaim, "Did the Grey Hat squad all die? Gru should have some strength."
"He was the only one who came back, so they probably all died."
The bald man speculated.
Just then, the Goblin Slayer entered the tavern, speaking coldly, "That's right, they're all dead. Only Cecil survived."
"Goblin Slayer? Did you join that battle too?!"
Everyone was overjoyed; at least there was someone alive to ask about the details.
The Goblin Slayer nodded, "I happened to run into them, but I was too late. When I arrived, they were almost all dead. Only Cecil survived."
Though he didn't understand why Lin Tian let him go, he could only say this for now.
The Wandering Brave asked, "What about those goblins?"
"I killed them all."
The Goblin Slayer said calmly.
This novel is available on ".
The room was silent for a few seconds.
Then someone started clapping, followed by a wave of applause!
"Sir, drink as much as you like today. It's on the house!"
The tavern owner said excitedly.
He had suffered from goblin attacks, and now that the threat was gone, he was naturally happy.
Everyone marveled, "As expected of the Goblin Slayer, a professional at dealing with goblins. Can you tell us more?"
"It's nothing much, just a mutant type, two hero types, and a few hundred great types."
The Goblin Slayer said, taking the offered drink.
He lifted his faceplate slightly and drank it all in one go.
Everyone was stunned, "My god, so many great types. No wonder Cecil and his team lost, and there were mutant types too!"
As everyone was immersed in alcohol and cheers.
A group of black bats flew in from outside, hanging upside down from the ceiling.
The crowd backed away in fear, even grabbing their weapons, spilling drinks everywhere.
The more timid ones even ran out, holding their heads in panic.
It wasn't that these men were afraid of bats.
But these bats were people, or rather, vampires!
The Cold-Blooded Mercenary Group!
From the ceiling, a black bat with blood-red teeth spoke, "Goblin Slayer, you said there were hundreds of great types. The leader of this tribe can't just be a mere mutant type.
Did you find their lair? Goblins hide very well."
Hearing this, the others realized.
Indeed, with so many great types, there must be thousands of lower goblins!
The leader must be a dominant figure!
If they could see it, the Goblin Slayer's cold gaze would probably send chills down that bat's spine.
He hadn't expected another troublesome group.
But he suddenly grinned, thinking, "Heh, my dear, I think you can handle these guys, right?"
Then he replied, "I didn't find the lair. After killing those, I came back."
"Is that so? Well, leave the task of finding the lair to us. We hope you can join forces with us, how about it?"
The red-toothed bat said.
The Wandering Brave was incredulous, "Even the Cold-Blooded Mercenary Group needs allies? These goblins, I want to meet them."
"Want to join?"
The red-toothed bat asked him.
The Wandering Brave awkwardly smiled, "Forget it, I'm off to slay dragons. I'm not interested in goblins, nor will I do it for bounty money."
"I don't like acting at night."
The Goblin Slayer said and left the tavern.
The red-toothed bat was disappointed, "What a pity. We can only act at night, or Gru and his team wouldn't have met such a fate. Move out, my minions."
"Screech, screech, screech!!!"
A swarm of bats flapped their wings and flew out of the tavern.
Heading towards the Enchanted Forest.
---
At this time, a well-equipped knight rode a carnivorous horse, quickly arriving at Bright Town.
After inquiring about some matters, he found the room where the Sword Saintess was staying.
The door was closed, and though it was just nightfall, the lights were already out.
The knight sighed, took out a letter, slipped it inside, and turned to leave.
---
Above the Enchanted Forest, a group of bats, being vampires, thrived at night.
With keen vision, quick reflexes, and an extremely sensitive sense of smell, it didn't take long for them to catch the scent of blood.
It was from across the river, several kilometers away, where the battle had left uncleaned bloodstains.
The bats hung upside down from the trees, observing the battle traces and pondering.
"Captain, what do you think? There's no sign of a large tribe around."
A bat asked.
The red-toothed bat sniffed carefully, its eyes suddenly glowing with a sinister red light, "Return, this was left on purpose!"
Following the scent of blood, they quickly returned to the riverbank.
They hovered around the waterfall.
The red-toothed bat smiled smugly, "The scent stops here; they must be inside! Let's go!"
With that, the bats dove into the waterfall.
Sure enough, they saw two patrolling great type goblins.
"Bats?"
"Ignore them, stay alert."
The two great types said, paying no attention.
After all, why would magical creatures care about a bunch of bats?
They were common sights.
Leading the way, the red-toothed bat quietly infiltrated the cave, reaching the living area.
Inside, goblins were sound asleep.
They slept deeply.
The bats didn't rush to act, silently scouting the entire cave.
The red-toothed bat was surprised, "Only this many goblins? And just one mutant type?"
"Could we have the wrong place? This seems like a medium-sized tribe."
The members were puzzled.
The red-toothed bat was certain, "No mistake, with so many great type goblins, it's just as the Goblin Slayer said. Let's act, drink our fill!"
"Though goblin blood tastes bad, it's very nutritious!"
One bat said, quietly crawling onto a sleeping goblin.
Its sharp teeth gently pierced the skin, like an ant bite, unnoticed by the deeply sleeping goblin.
In just over ten seconds, the once robust great type goblin.
Now looked like a dried corpse.
The red-toothed bat also drank heartily, "Tonight, drink your fill!"
The Cold-Blooded Mercenary Group operated silently, killing many powerful foes this way.
What do you think?
