Chapter 149
“What do you mean?”
Viretta approached from behind and placed her hand on Iola's shoulder. Though she failed to grab his back, she acted as if she hadn’t even tried.
Iola calmly stroked the hand on his shoulder.
“I know what Medlit and Viretta can offer me. So, I showed you what I have, fairly.”
Iola's words were sometimes hard to understand. Viretta quietly pressed her hand on his shoulder.
He pulled a chair closer and patted the seat. Viretta sat next to him and looked out the window.
Iola's mansion was located on a high hill. The wide-open view stretched across the village below.
“How was Najin?”
“It’s a fascinating city. There are more women, but it’s wild and rough. It’s fun and fresh.”
The buildings were all jumbled, constructed without order, and the streets were uneven.
Some buildings went up to three stories, while others had people camping on their rooftops. The smell of alcohol and meat filled the air everywhere.
The city walls were rough and sturdy, and the commercial districts were somewhat organized, but overall, the city wasn’t exactly tidy.
Perhaps the disorganization of the streets and buildings was also reflected in the temperaments of the people wandering around.
“They’re all either wives or daughters of mercenaries. I grew up in this town, so I thought this was normal, but when I went abroad, I realized it wasn’t.”
“This place is the opposite of ordinary towns.”
“It’s only natural that a matriarchal society is different from a patriarchal one, but Najin is a unique district even in Sahra.”
The streets of the mercenary city Najin were full of women. The men were away working in distant lands, so all the mundane tasks in the village were carried out by women.
What do you think?
