Chapter 2185: A Small Celebration ⑥
Chapter 2185: A Small Celebration ⑥
The shelves undoubtedly prepared with clear intent by Alice…… The section meant for Hina-chan is easy to understand. There are many items with adorable designs, practical-looking pens, and other things whose purposes are obvious at a glance.
However, when it comes to my section, many of the items are difficult to identify just by looking at them. For example, a gauntlet…… No, I understand what a gauntlet is used for, but what meaning does it have as a birthday present? Even if it’s meant for use in an Adventurer’s line of work, wouldn’t it be more suited for Hina-chan, who fights unarmed, rather than Aoi-chan?
[……Alice, what is this gauntlet used for?]
[Ahh, that’s a magical tool. It has an effect similar to a magic box, but with this gauntlet, you can store up to four pre-constructed Golems inside. It’s an excellent item that lets you summon Golems instantly in battle without having to deploy complicated magic circles.]
[Whoa…… Wait, huh? Alice-sama, isn’t that something a normal magic box can do?]
After listening to Alice’s explanation, I could see why it was chosen as a gift for Aoi-chan, it’s certainly useful. However, at the same time, I had the same question as Hina-chan just now.
Magic boxes can store anything that isn’t a living being, so in theory, there shouldn’t be anything stopping them from holding Golems. But since I’ve never seen Aoi-chan use one like that…… does that mean it’s actually impossible?
[It’s not as simple as that. Golem Magic fundamentally works by maintaining a magical link between the caster and the summoned Golem. If that link is severed, the Golem collapses. Depending on the skill of the caster, if the Golem moves too far away, the link can break. Well, I say "fundamentally" because there are ways to get around this, such as embedding a special magic core inside the Golem to sustain it, but that’s an advanced technique that Aoi-san isn’t capable of yet.]
[So, putting it inside a magic box would cut that magic link?]
[Exactly. The inside of a magic box functions like a separate dimension, so as soon as you store a Golem in it, the link is severed. The magic box’s preservation ability will keep it intact for a while, but the moment you take it out, it will collapse immediately. In theory, if you can re-establish the link in the short time between removing it and collapse, it would work, but doing that requires magic control on the level of someone like Isis-san…… In short, you can basically consider it impossible.]Summoning a powerful Golem requires complex magic circles, which naturally take time. Since Aoi-chan is a rearguard fighter, she likely relies on Hina-chan to protect her while creating Golems, but even then, she probably has to make some compromises.
In contrast, with this gauntlet, she could take all the time and magic she needs beforehand to craft strong Golems, then summon them instantly during battle. That could be considered revolutionary.
From the way Alice is talking, it sounds like someone with exceptional magical skill could achieve the same result without the gauntlet. But considering that the example she gave was Isis-san, one of the strongest magic users in the world, the difficulty level is clearly off the charts.
[……Eh? Then isn’t this an incredibly good item?]
[Right? Aoi-senpai would definitely want this.]
[Well, originally, I made this thinking I’d sell it in Kaito-san’s underground weapon shop. But as I just explained, storing and deploying Golems requires extremely advanced magic. This magic tool itself also uses a ton of special techniques and spares no expense in rare materials…… To be honest, if Aoi-san or Hina-san tried to earn enough from their Adventurer work to buy it, who knows how many years it would take them.]
Hearing that, I checked the price tag, and it read "100 white gold coins"———— a staggering 10 billion yen in Japanese currency.
The items sold in this shop were priced quite reasonably since Alice personally gathered the materials, but even with that taken into account, this price meant that if this were sold anywhere else, the cost would likely be several times higher.
But…… well, I can easily afford it…… Honestly, Nifty and everything else are doing so well that my money grows faster than I can spend it, and I’m at the point where I don’t even know what to do with it all.
Alice was probably aware of that and intentionally placed this in my section.
[……Alright, I’ll buy this.]
[Thanks for your patronage~~]
[……U- Umm, I always thought Kaito-senpai was rich, but just how much money do you actually have……?]
[H- Hmmm, I leave most of it to Anima to manage, but even then, I still have about 3,000 white gold coins in my magic box.]
[T- Three thousand……]
Hina-chan was beyond shocked, she was completely speechless. To be fair, even I was struggling to use all the money I had. In the first place, Anima was already incredibly skilled at managing funds, and my wealth was only increasing. And now, with Canalis-san, who could outright ignore the concept of costs, joining in, the rate at which my money grew had skyrocketed even further.
……Well, for now, let’s just be glad I managed to buy a great present.
<Afterword>
Serious-senpai : [Equipment costs…… just create them. Labor costs…… just create them. Material costs and everything else…… just create them…… Canalis is way too much of a cheat for business development.]
? ? ? : [Rather than a cheat, it's like that because she's a literal God.]
What do you think?
