Chapter 235: Exploring The Cultural Festival
The masked maid, Suisei Z, appeared like a comet.
Nagamatsu, who had been bullying Gomi, was momentarily dumbfounded by the overwhelming presence of Suisei Z.
“No, you’re Kim Yu—”
“I am Suisei Z.”
Pointing to his name tag again as if to emphasize it, Suisei Z’s brazenness made Nagamatsu shut his mouth.
But only for a moment.
“Why don’t you mind your own business? This is between Gomi and me.”
Kim Yu-seong shook his head as if in disbelief and said,
“Making a scene in someone else’s class and then acting so arrogant—you’ve got more guts than I thought.”
Normally, anyone who realized the masked maid was actually Kim Yu-seong would be intimidated, but Nagamatsu had something he was quietly counting on.“So what? You going to hit me?”
“I’d prefer to end this peacefully if possible.”
Hearing Kim Yu-seong’s words, Nagamatsu grinned like someone who had found a weak spot and said,
“What’s wrong? You scared all of a sudden? Worried about paying a settlement because you’re too poor?”
“……”
Everyone knew that Kim Yu-seong, as an external transfer student, had entered the school in his first year on a full scholarship as the top student.
Because of that, any unnecessary trouble could lead to the school canceling his academic scholarship.
On the other hand, Nagamatsu’s father was a rather successful lawyer in his field.
He had the confidence that he could sue and make Kim Yu-seong’s life miserable until graduation if things went wrong.
“If you don’t want to get involved, let go of me.”
As Nagamatsu tried to free his wrist from Kim Yu-seong’s grip, he suddenly spoke.
“Hey.”
Kim Yu-seong opened his mouth abruptly.
“Do you know what I hate most in this world?”
Squeeze!
“Aaagh!”
Nagamatsu involuntarily dropped to his knees as Kim Yu-seong’s grip tightened as if it would crush his wrist.
“Wh-what are you doing?!”
Nagamatsu screamed frantically, but Kim Yu-seong ignored him, pointing to his nose under the mask as he spoke.
“It’s garbage like you, reeking of rot.”
“Aaaagh!”
Nagamatsu was now in too much pain to speak properly, drooling from the corners of his mouth.
The sight of a school bully, who thought he had some status, being instantly overpowered left not only the 2-B class students but even the guests silently watching in shock.
After about a minute of intense “education,” Kim Yu-seong finally let go of Nagamatsu’s wrist. Nagamatsu, now crying and sniffling, didn’t dare think of resisting.
Looking down at him with cold eyes, Kim Yu-seong spoke threateningly.
“If something like this happens again, I’ll come to find you myself.”
“Eek!”
Terrified by Kim Yu-seong’s warning, Nagamatsu fled as if he’d just encountered a ghost.
With that, Kim Yu-seong successfully chased away the unwelcome guest in a “peaceful” manner, and applause erupted for him.
Scratching the back of his head awkwardly, he glanced around, nodded slightly at Gomi, who was sneaking glances at him, and then went back into the kitchen.
‘Kim Yu—no, Suisei Z! I’ll definitely repay this favor!’
The fellow student I helped said that, paid for his meal, and left.
Though I had helped him on impulse, it didn’t feel too bad receiving his thanks.
After the chaotic lunch rush, when we finally had a break, the President firmly pushed me out of the kitchen.
“Go take a look around at the other classes. I’ll handle things here with the others.”
“So, can I take off this maid outfit while I’m on break?”
“No.”
“Why?!”
“You walking around in that will help promote our class.”
“…God is dead.”
“Even if you start quoting philosophers, what’s not allowed is still not allowed.”
With her firm attitude, I decided to give up early.
It wasn’t like I was the only one looking ridiculous; all the boys in our class were walking around in fluttery maid outfits, so it should be fine.
After passing the kitchen duties to the next group, I took off my apron and left the classroom.
It was finally the first day of the cultural festival.
Since the festival was only open to the public from the second day, the people wandering around the school were still only students.
There were many students from the middle school who had come to visit, and seeing those young kids with their baby fat still on them scurrying around the campus made them look like little chicks.
There was only a three- or four-year age gap at most, but still.
“So, Ryu-chan, where should we go first?”
“…Right now, my name is the mysterious masked maid, Suisei Z.”
“So, should I call you Su-chan instead of Ryu-chan?”
“Call me whatever you want.”
When I answered with a resigned expression, Rika cheerfully laughed and said, “Then I’ll call you Su-chan!”
It was a brightness I hadn’t seen in Rika in a while.
It seemed like the festive atmosphere of the cultural festival had lifted her spirits too.
Feeling uncomfortable, I adjusted my skirt for no real reason and asked,
“Rika, where do you want to go?”
“Hmm, maybe the esthetic shop in Class 2-D, or the massage shop in 2-A? Or maybe the haunted house in 2-C would be fun.”
“An esthetic shop and a massage shop? Does the school normally allow that kind of thing?”
“Su-chan, aren’t you part of the Student Council? How do you not know that?”
“All I do is take notes during the meetings.”
Policy matters were entirely the domain of the President and Vice President, after all.
When I gave that excuse, Rika said, “It’s strange to think that even Su-chan doesn’t know everything!”
“…It’s not like I know everything that happens at school.”
Anyway, after talking for a while, we decided that the first place we would visit was Class 2-A’s massage shop.
The main reason was that it was right next door, so it was the closest.
“Welcome!”
Clap clap!
The students of Class 2-A all clapped in unison, as if we had entered a popular restaurant.
“Show the two guests to their seats!”
“Yes~”
At their class president’s voice, two neatly dressed girls came out and guided us to our seats.
The massage took place in partitioned-off spaces inside the classroom. They had even brought in actual massage beds from somewhere, making it feel surprisingly professional.
“Come, come, please sit here.”
A male student handed us the menu with a sly voice.
Caught off guard, I sat down in the chair and glanced at the prices on the menu, and I couldn’t believe my eyes.
Back: 1,000 yen
Upper body: 3,000 yen
Full body: 5,000 yen
An outrageously overpriced menu.
Our class might be able to compete in terms of overpricing, but even we weren’t this bad.
“Charging this much without even having a professional masseuse certification…”
“I have one.”
The class president of 2-A responded by opening his wallet and showing me dozens of certificates.
“I figured it might help with college admissions, so I got them early. Of course, no female customers have ordered a full body massage so far.”
Well, who would willingly let a guy knead their whole body like that? It wasn’t surprising.
More than that, I didn’t know there was another person like Minami.
The class president of 2-A, who probably thought he could fulfill his hidden desire, glanced at Rika, who was sitting next to me, with gleaming eyes.
“So, which course are you thinking of getting? If you get the full body massage now, we’ll discount it to 3,000 yen…”
“I’ll just get the back massage.”
“Okay…”
The 2-A class president’s expression quickly turned dejected.
“Well then, take your time and enjoy it…”
His enthusiasm rapidly dropped, and he waved us off half-heartedly as he walked away.
“What’s with him all of a sudden?”
“He got his hopes up for no reason, so he feels betrayed.”
No one promised him anything in the first place.
Seeing that Rika still looked confused, I said, “Let’s just get the massage,” and laid down on the massage bed first.
And then I realized.
The massage bed was a bit too small for someone my size.
“Ah! I feel refreshed!”
It was worth the 1,000 yen of happiness. After receiving a proper massage, we left Class 2-A feeling much lighter.
What was surprising was that, aside from the class president, there were multiple students in Class 2-A who had massage therapist certifications.
Thanks to this, we received great service for the price. Riding the momentum, we decided to visit Class 2-D’s esthetic shop as well.
Of course, just like Class 2-A, Class 2-D was serious about their esthetic services. They not only provided skincare but even gave us a nail treatment as a final service.
The quality was so good it was hard to believe it was done by students.
After exploring our neighboring “sibling” classes, 2-A and 2-D, we decided to head to our final destination: Class 2-C.
Class 2-C had chosen a haunted house, something you could call a classic for school festivals, just like maid cafés.
The haunted house took up only the size of a single classroom, so you could probably pass through it in five minutes, but it wasn’t about the contents—it was about enjoying the atmosphere.
Because I was still wearing the maid outfit, I naturally attracted attention from the students walking around, but I ignored them and lined up with Rika.
Sporadic screams echoed from inside Class 2-C’s classroom.
Rika smiled brightly and said to me,
“This looks fun, right? Su-chan?”
“…Yeah.”
I just hoped I wouldn’t accidentally punch anyone.
What do you think?
