"The match is over."
"Wha— I lost..."
In the training grounds, a duel between Letitia and Lilysha took place.
Letitia had insisted on showing off the results of our training, and to everyone's surprise, she managed to secure a victory against Lilisha.
This outcome was unexpected even for me, as I had thought for sure that Liliyha would win.
It's not like Lilysha had been slacking off either.
Recently, she had been improving rapidly, to the point where I couldn't afford to let my guard down.
Given her upward trajectory, I had assumed it would take a bit longer before Letitia could defeat Lilisha, but—
"Letitia, you did it!"
"This is a victory of love, dedicated to Alphiss !"
"Huh?"
Letitia started spouting nonsense.
The duel was her own decision, so I shouldn't have anything to do with it.
Sure, I'm happy that Letitia won, but I don't know what to do with her dedication.
"Princess, Alphiss isn't the type to be pleased by something so trivial."
"Trivial!? You think this isn't enough!?"
"Well, for example, unless I winAlphiss , won't be satisfied. I'll show you later."
"Gulp..."
It's not a "gulp" moment.
If Lushiel's logic holds, then no matter how many times Letitia wins, it won't be enough.
Meanwhile, Lilysha was so dejected that she couldn't even get up.
"No way, I lost to Letitia...!"
"It just means Letitia is no longer someone you can underestimate. You should accept it."
"Ugh, this is so frustrating! So frustrating——!"
"By the way, you've stopped getting upset when you lose to me lately."
That's right. Occasionally, I spar with Lilysha, but even when she loses to me, she doesn't get this frustrated.
In fact, she sometimes even looks somewhat satisfied.
I had been thinking this wasn't a good sign, so I'm relieved she lost to Letitia.
After all, humans need some kind of goal to grow.
It would be a real problem if Lilisha lost her competitive spirit towards me.
"Th-that's not true! Ah, this is so annoying! So frustrating!"
"Why are you getting upset over something you just remembered? Are you emotionally unstable or something?"
Lilisha's cheeks flushed red.
Being my second-in-command isn't ideal. It's like being a second-rate noble.
Lately, she's been fidgeting a lot and seems to lack any real drive.
"Well then, Letitia. Next, it's my turn to—"
"Huh? What's this? Looks like we've got company."@@novelbin@@
A group of shady-looking guys showed up.
One had a pierced ear and a broom-like head of blond hair, while the other had droopy eyes and long hair.
The former was probably Togari. I recognized him from the game.
But the long-haired guy at the front was unfamiliar.
He looked like a typical mob character, but something about him felt off.
From his position, it seemed like he was the boss.
"Hey, you guys— This area is reserved for the Muto faction, so clear out, okay?"
"The Muto faction? Ah, the group that's been rising to power recently, right?"
"Ah, you know about us. You're Alphius, right? The young master of the Barufonte family, who for some reason is respected by the student council?"
"You're a new face to me."
Provoking him, Muto made a weird face by pointing his fingers at his own face.
This guy isn't just underestimating me—he seems to fundamentally look down on people and the world in general.
The way his faction members were laughing around him suggested that the intelligence level of this group was pretty low.
"See? Now you'll never forget this face, right?"
"So, what do you want?"
"Aw, you're no fun, Alphiss-kun. You should enjoy life more. It's short, you know?"
"What do you want?"
"Alright, you guys need to clear out right now, turn around, and disappear. Got it? Understood? Okay?"
Muto made another weird face and shook his hips.
This guy's got a screw loose.
I can't believe someone like this was just a background mob character.
It seems the Muto faction has set their sights on us.
Actually, according toL ushiel , lately there are hardly any other factions left in the academy besides these guys.
The once-dominant Rubiton faction has weakened to the point of being unrecognizable, and now this Muto-led trio of factions is running the show.
"If you want us to move, try making us move yourself. You're only here to negotiate because you don't have the guts or the strength to do it, right?"
"Feisty, aren't you,Alphiss-kun? I figured you'd say that, so I came to teach you a little bit about reality. Hey, Togari-chan."
When Muto called, Togari stepped forward.
This guy is the typical delinquent character, but I never imagined he'd be someone's lackey.
He overlaps with Galeo in terms of character, but unlike Galeo, this guy is a straight-up enemy.
"Hey, you little first-year brat. If you don't want to cry, you better back off."
"There are other training grounds, right? You're the one who should disappear before I rip out that ugly piercing of yours."
"Huh!? What did you say, you little brat?"
"Are your ears as bad as your head? Maybe that ugly piercing is making it hard for you to hear. Should I take it out for you?"
As I reached for his ear, Togari grabbed my arm.
He didn't budge even when I applied some force, which suggests he's got some decent magical body enhancement.
I didn't remember him being this strong.
"Hey, if you keep messing around, I'll break this arm of yours."
"Are you, by any chance, a summoner?"
"Huh?"
"I doubt someone like you could have this much power on your own. Did that idiot over there put you up to this?"
As I said this, I forcefully reached for Togari's ear despite him holding my arm.
Togari flinched, but I only touched his earlobe before stopping.
His magical power has been boosted, but from my perspective, it's like pouring water on a hot stone.
In fact, it seems like gaining this half-baked power is only setting him up for an unfortunate future.
"Just kidding. Did I scare you?"
"You little brat!"
As Togari got worked up, Lilisha grabbed his wrist.
"If you want to throw a tantrum, I'll be your opponent."
"You're Lilysha, right? I heard you got beaten by that first-year brat over there. The second-rate noble's little lady."
"Yeah, that's right."
Lilysha's eyes weren't smiling.
This girl is seriously pissed.
Togari, there are some things you just don't say in this world.
",Alphiss step aside. I'll handle this guy."
"Got it. I'll leave it to you."
"I was just feeling irritated anyway. I needed a punching bag."
Lilisha laughed, and it was decided that she would duel Togari.
Well, this isn't even a duel anymore. It's more like an execution.
What do you think?
