I'm The King of Business & Technology in the Modern World

Chapter 40: Good News

The next morning, sunlight streamed through the curtains of Matthew's apartment as his phone buzzed incessantly on the bedside table. Groaning, he reached for it, eyes still half-closed. As he unlocked the screen, a notification caught his attention—an email from Nathan Caldwell, Chief Security Officer of Facebook.

He bolted upright. "No way…"

Quickly, he read through the email again, absorbing every word. "Potential partnership… full capabilities… let us know your availability…" The words felt surreal, like a dream he wasn't ready to wake from. His heart raced with excitement. He needed to tell Saimon and Leo.

Still wearing his old hoodie and pajama pants, Matthew grabbed his phone and rushed to call Saimon.

5 Minutes Later.

"Dude, what the hell? It's barely 7 AM," Saimon grumbled as he picked up the call. His voice was hoarse from sleep.

"Get up, man!" Matthew said, unable to contain his excitement. "You'll want to hear this. Facebook just emailed me. They want a partnership!"

There was a pause on the other end. "Wait… Facebook? Like the Facebook? Mark Zuckerberg, Instagram, billions of users, Facebook?"

"Yes!" Matthew exclaimed. "Nathan Caldwell, their CSO, sent me an email. They tested the trial version overnight and were blown away by the results."

Saimon groaned as he stretched. "Okay, okay. I'm up. We're celebrating, right? Pandesal breakfast?"

"Damn right we are," Matthew said. "Call Leo. I'll meet you guys at the bakery."

The smell of freshly baked pandesal and brewing coffee filled the small neighborhood bakery. Matthew spotted Saimon and Leo already waiting at a corner table, each with steaming mugs of kapeng barako in hand and a plate of warm pandesal in the center.

Saimon was wearing his usual cargo shorts and a faded band t-shirt, while Leo looked half-asleep in a hoodie and track pants. They perked up when they saw Matthew enter.

"Here comes the man of the hour," Leo greeted with a grin. "Alright, spill. What's the full story?"

Matthew sat down, grabbing a piece of pandesal and tearing it open. "Okay, so after I sent the trial version to Facebook, I wasn't expecting much. Maybe an auto-reply or something. But they tested it—in their secure environment—and they found vulnerabilities their own system hadn't detected."

Saimon leaned forward, his eyes widening. "You're telling me that their top-tier engineers couldn't find those vulnerabilities, but your software did?"

"Exactly," Matthew said, nodding. "Real-time anomaly detection, adaptive firewall adjustments, and encryption analysis—all of it worked seamlessly. They were impressed enough to want a meeting."

Leo whistled softly. "Man, that's next-level. This could be huge. Like… life-changing huge."

"Yeah, but let's not get ahead of ourselves," Matthew said, taking a sip of his coffee. "They want to discuss a potential partnership, which means this is just the beginning. I need to prepare for the meeting."

Saimon clapped him on the back. "You've got this, bro. You're practically building the future here."

"We're building it," Matthew corrected. "This isn't just me. You guys are part of this too."

Leo chuckled. "You're starting to sound like one of those motivational speakers. But I appreciate it, man. So, what's the plan?"

Back at Matthew's apartment, the three of them gathered around his laptop. The email from Facebook was displayed on the screen.

"Alright," Matthew began, "first, I'll reply with a time for the call. I'm thinking tomorrow, mid-morning. We need to come off as professional but not desperate."

"Agreed," Saimon said, munching on another piece of pandesal. "But how do we make sure they see the full value of what we're offering?"

"I'll present a demo version during the call," Matthew explained. "We'll go over the key features, real-world scenarios, and—most importantly—the long-term benefits of integrating this software into their system."

Leo nodded thoughtfully. "Makes sense. You should also be ready to answer questions about scalability, costs, and support. Big corporations like Facebook aren't just going to throw money at a product unless they know it can grow with them."

"Good point," Matthew agreed. "I'll prepare a breakdown of infrastructure requirements and deployment options. We'll emphasize that this is a plug-and-play solution, with minimal downtime for integration."

Saimon raised a hand. "And don't forget to talk about partnerships. If they like what they see, we might get more than just a contract—they could invest in the company."

Matthew grinned. "That's the dream. But let's focus on securing the deal first."

With his friends giving feedback, Matthew composed his reply to Nathan Caldwell.

After sending the email, Matthew leaned back in his chair, exhaling slowly.

"Alright. It's done," he said.

Saimon gave him a thumbs-up. "Now we wait."

Leo stretched and yawned. "Man, I can't believe we're on the verge of partnering with Facebook. This is crazy."

Matthew nodded, a mix of excitement and nervousness bubbling inside him. "Yeah, it is. But we've got a long road ahead. This is just the start."

They clinked their coffee mugs together in a quiet toast.

The next morning, as Matthew prepared breakfast, his phone buzzed with a new email notification. He immediately grabbed it and saw the sender—Nathan Caldwell, CSO of Facebook.

The subject line read: "Confirmed: Meeting Tomorrow at 10:00 AM PST". His heart raced as he opened the message.
