Chapter 733: Sword Dance
Wu Changzai looked at Wang Yi half-smilingly. "Another sword cultivator? Your aura is different from those of the Void Immortal Sword Sect. Who are you?"
"Lingyun Sword Sect, Wang Yi," Wang Yi replied in a low voice.
Nearby, Han Linqiu and Su Lingzhu exchanged looks, shaking their heads with a sigh.
They recognized Wu Changzai's intentions; he sought to humiliate not only the Void Immortal Sword Sect but also the sword cultivators of the Central Continent.
As an Immortal Seedling from the Lingyun Sword Sect, Wang Yi had no obligation to step forward, but now that he saw the situation, he couldn't just stand by.
"The Lingyun Sword Sect? Oh, I see, the Lingyun Sword Sect under the Divine Dao Sect." Wu Changzai nodded, then grinned. "What qualification do you have to interrupt my conversation with Sword Leader Fang? In this vast Central Continent, only the Void Immortal Sword Sect can barely hold a dialogue with us. As for the others, they are not worthy."
Many cultivators displayed expressions of indignation.
"The Kunlun Sword Sect is truly arrogant, not even putting the Lingyun Sword Sect in their sights!"
That was too outrageous. Although the Lingyun Sword Sect was not as strong as the Void Immortal Sword Sect, it also had an Immortal King overseeing it; its means were just slightly inferior to that of the old sword cultivators of the Void Immortal Sword Sect. Not to mention that the Divine Dao Sect behind the Lingyun Sword Sect had a First Rate Sect Leader standing behind them!
A group of people approached, each shrouded in a faint sword intent. "Don't be too arrogant. This is the Central Continent, not your Empire!""It's Ding Hao from the Lingyun Sword Sect. I've heard he is about to break through to the Enlightenment Realm."
The crowd's eyes shifted with interest. "It seems... the Lingyun Sword Sect intends to get involved in this matter."
The person leading the group was quite renowned in the capital and was known as one of the prominent sword cultivators of the younger generation from the Lingyun Sword Sect.
"Another bunch of small fry! Just because you can swing a sword doesn't make you real sword cultivators."
Wu Changzai appeared completely unconcerned. Although Ding Hao's aura was not weaker than his, so what? He could kill such characters with just one sword strike.
The sword cultivators from the Lingyun Sword Sect couldn't stand such ridicule and began to retort angrily.
Ding Hao wore a faint smile as he simply observed Wu Changzai.
At first, Wu Changzai attempted to respond, but when he realized that there were more than a dozen people insulting him, he smiled coldly. "So, it turns out that the sword cultivators of the Central Continent have honed their skills in verbal sparring. Do you practice swordplay with your mouths?"
Ding Hao chuckled. "Our swordplay is formidable, but our tongues are equally sharp. It seems your Kunlun Sword Sect only practices the sword and doesn't know how to speak well. Wouldn't you be at people's mercy when in a dispute?" ŗÀƝỐ𝖇ËꞨ
As he spoke, the sword cultivators beside him hurled another hundred scathing insults that left Wu Changzai feeling quite humiliated.
The expressions of the other two sword cultivators beside Wu Changzai turned increasingly grim.
The expressions of the onlookers were strange, and a hint of admiration flashed in their eyes.
"Truly worthy of being sword cultivators... Today, I have witnessed what it means to lose face but not lose ground."
They inwardly resolved never to provoke this group of sword cultivators without good reason in the future. These people were merciless in their verbal insults.
"Fine, your insults are impressive." Wu Changzai nodded with a smile. "I admire that. But no matter how much you insult me, in the end, we have to let our swords do the talking. So, are you all willing to spar with me today?"
With these words, the sword cultivators from the Lingyun Sword Sect gradually fell silent, their expressions growing more serious. In terms of strength, the Lingyun Sword Sect was already inferior to the Void Immortal Sword Sect, let alone the Kunlun Sword Sect.
To engage in a sword duel would only result in a needless death; they weren't fools.
"Not saying a word? In the end… are all of you just afraid of dying?" Wu Changzai smiled slightly, his gaze settling on Fang Chen. "So, what do you think, Sword Leader Fang? Will you step up for your friend? If you take this on, you should consider my earlier proposal carefully."
Ding Hao, Wang Yi, and the others all looked at Fang Chen in unison.
"Sword Leader Fang, it's absolutely unacceptable for you to perform a sword dance in the street!"
This wasn't just about the reputation of the Void Immortal Sword Sect; it had become a matter of honor for all sword cultivators in the Central Continent!
Fang Chen said with a faint smile, "You're being overly dramatic; it's just a sword dance. What's the big deal?"
The crowd was momentarily taken aback, a look of disbelief crossing their faces. Was Fang Chen really going to do it?
Wang Yi immediately yelled, "You dare!"
Ding Hao's expression darkened: "If the Kunlun Sword Sect aims to humiliate you, we'll stand with you. If it comes to a fight and we lose our lives, so be it; it's just death." @@novelbin@@
"If you dare to tarnish the reputation of sword cultivators in Central Continent, that sin will be unforgivable for eternity!"
Fang Chen smiled but did not respond to Ding Hao and Wang Yi. Instead, he scanned the surroundings and finally fixed his gaze on Wang Yi. "I need to borrow your sword."
"Absolutely not," Wang Yi shut him down coldly. "My sword is meant for killing; I will never allow it to be humiliated like this."
Fang Chen's expression darkened. "What nonsense are you talking about? Hand it over for a moment."
Wang Yi was taken aback, his brow slightly furrowing.
Wu Changzai watched this scene with an amused look on his face. He suddenly said, "Since Sword Leader Fang is telling you to hand over your sword, why aren't you doing so? If Sword Leader Fang uses your sword to perform his dance, it'd make for quite the story, wouldn't it?"
Wang Yi frowned at Fang Chen. "Don't you have a sword of your own?"
Fang Chen smiled lightly. "They aren't worthy of seeing my sword."
Wang Yi refrained from voicing his thoughts about how Fang Chen's sword might be worth seeing while his own sword wasn't. After considering it, he still drew out his sword and handed it to Fang Chen.
Fang Chen examined the long sword in his hand. "Good sword."
Though it was only a high-grade, yellow-rank sword, it was still a sword cultivator's sword and served as their life treasure, capable of growing stronger alongside its master's cultivation. The core material used to forge this sword was certainly not ordinary, and upon grasping it, Fang Chen felt a sense of carefree ambition as if he were destined for immortality.
Wu Changzai smiled and remarked, "It's a good sword, but it has chosen the wrong master; I suppose it will have no chance to make a name for itself in the future."
This remark immediately drew a wave of curses from the crowd.
Wu Changzai paid no heed to them, still smiling as he looked at Fang Chen. "Sword Leader Fang, it seems you've decided to perform the sword dance for me. I am very pleased. After all, the sword leader of the Void immortal Sword Sect performing a sword dance is something you to see only once in a thousand years!"
Ding Hao and the others wore expressions of displeasure but remained silent.
Many cultivators nearby, upon witnessing Fang Chen truly preparing to perform a sword dance, showed expressions of curiosity. They wanted to see what remarkable aspects the Void Immortal Sword Sect's sword leader possessed when it came to sword techniques.
"Two senior brothers, we can't hog this scene only for us; it should be shared with the world!" Wu Changzai said, smiling at the two sword cultivators beside him.
They quickly drew out the Heaven Profound Mirror, aiming it at Fang Chen.
Wu Ruochou was visibly concerned. "Junior Brother, if Young Master Fang does this…"
"Don't worry, Fang Da won't be in any trouble," Xia Ji reassured her.
However, he was similarly worried. If he didn't know Fang Chen was dealing with his calamity at the moment, he wouldn't have been so worried.
As Fang Chen truly prepared to start the sword dance, the expressions of Wang Yi and the others, who had been eagerly anticipating whether he had any trump cards, turned increasingly grim.
Wang Yi said deliberately, word by word, "Fang Chen, have you thought this through? If you perform a sword dance, us Central Continent sword cultivators will never be able to lift our heads again."
Fang Chen smiled lightly. "You're all just being overly dramatic; it's just a sword dance. I'm not performing for money or anything."
He began with the first sword of the Eight Desolation Supreme Sword Scripture. This time, he didn't use any spiritual energy and it was purely a sword dance and his movements were quite slow. Yet, the immortal intent, Mortal World, gradually merged with the sword, and with Fang Chen himself.
In the distance, Hong Xian's sturdy body shook, his eyes filled with astonishment. "He… really has no shame, performing a sword dance for the sword cultivators of the Kunlun Sword Sect while bearing the title of sword leader?!"
A maid suddenly appeared and said softly, "General Hong Xian, the Fourth Princess requests your presence."
What do you think?
