Chapter 838: This Person is a Talented Individual

Fang Chen looked at Kong Hong calmly and suddenly chuckled, "Who is your superior, and what is their name?"

Kong Hong's expression slightly changed, but he didn't answer directly. Instead, he probed, "Which faction do you belong to?"

"I asked you," Fang Chen said indifferently, "What is the name of your superior?"

At that moment, the atmosphere in the room grew a bit strange. It seemed that the key issue wasn't Wang Hu, but rather the Yin Walker who had just arrived in Youhuan City. Wang Hu kneeling and calling him his lord was strange....

Was this Yin Walker actually an official with a higher rank than Wang Hu?

Recalling Wang Hu's attitude toward Kong Hong and seeing how humbly he was kneeling, a bold guess arose in everyone's minds.

Could this person be someone on equal footing with the Day Walker General?

At that moment, someone looked at Lin San and remarked, "Brother Lin, things are getting a bit odd."

"Let's wait and see. No rush," Lin San said, trying to stay calm.

However, Lin San's eyes were already flickering with uncertainty.

Old Zheng's colleague gasped and looked at him suspiciously. "Old Zheng, tell me honestly, when you first came to Youhuan City, you became a city guard. Is this old friend of yours from the City Lord's faction?"

Old Zheng's face darkened. He muttered, "That person offered me a small position as a city guard. Could it be that they've arranged an extraordinary position for Fang Chen?"

Old Zheng's colleague suddenly grabbed his shoulder, his expression serious. "Old Zheng, you really have some background! From now on, we'll be good brothers. If you have my back, I have your back!"

Wen Fan looked at the woman in black in confusion, "Little Lan, does Lord Fang have an official position?"

The woman in black was surprised. "I'm not sure, Young Lady... but if he does, it seems it's not a small post. Even Lord Wang is kneeling to him and showing him respect. Your husband should be in good hands."

Wen Fan's face instantly lit up with joy.

The surrounding Yin Soldiers gradually caught on to the situation. They exchanged looks. Some quietly returned to Wang Hu's side, while others stood behind Kong Hong, hesitating, unsure of which side to take.

Kong Hong noticed this and saw Fang Chen's calm, indifferent gaze, as though he was of no significance in Fang Chen's eyes. A flicker of anger began to rise in Kong Hong's heart. He said in a low voice, "Why do you want to know my superior's name? From the looks of it, you're not from the Day Walker Division. Matters concerning the Day Walker Division are not for others to meddle in."

Wang Hu angrily retorted, "Lord, just answer the question honestly. Why are you spouting so much nonsense? Have you grown tired of living for so long?"

Fang Chen said, "Tell me your superior's name. You can harm yourself if you want, but harming your superior... I'd be careful if I were you. He won't spare you even as a ghost."

The crowd noticed Wang Hu's words were becoming increasingly incoherent. However, instead of laughing, their expressions grew even more serious.

"Fine, since you want to know my superior's name, I'll tell you," said Kong Hong coldly, his brows furrowing slightly. "My superior is the Day Walker General Li Badao!"

After speaking, he stared at Fang Chen, "Now that you know my superior's name, what are you going to do?"

Fang Chen glanced at him and gave a light chuckle. He stepped forward lightly and said, "Day Walker General Li Badao, obey my command."

The thunderous roar sounded like a divine decree, causing the Yin Soldiers around to tremble. The wandering souls felt a chill rising from deep within their hearts.

In an instant, the expressions of the Yin Soldiers and wandering souls were appalled as a disheveled middle-aged man appeared out of nowhere in front of Fang Chen. His footing was unstable, and he awkwardly fell to the ground.

When Kong Hong saw this person, it was as if he had been struck by lightning. He stumbled three steps back, losing his balance.

The Yin Soldiers standing nearby stared in shock.

Ma Minlong appeared slightly confused. What kind of technique is this?!

The middle-aged man instinctively cursed, "Damn it, which bastard is messing with me, Li Badao!?"

However, it didn't take long for his expression to stiffen. He hurriedly straightened his clothes, cautiously looking at Fang Chen. He respectfully asked, "Lord, which officer of the Day Walker faction are you? When did you summon me here?"

The crowd gasped in astonishment, their eyes widening in shock. "Li Badao!? He's the Day Walker General, Li Badao, Kong Hong's superior!?"

Li Badao, a Day Walker General, was a top-tier figure. He was a Middle Three Realms cultivator in the mortal realm. That was enough to dominate an entire region.

Despite that, this formidable figure was now referring to himself as a subordinate?

Some Yin Soldiers recalled rumors they had heard. Among the officers of the official factions, once one reached the level of a Day Walker General, they could summon their subordinates using their name and title.

This scene was just like those rumors.

Fang Chen smiled faintly and said, "You're Li Badao? Were you busy just now? I hope I didn't disturb you."

Li Badao's eyes were cautious. He humbly responded, "Lord, you flatter me. Whenever you give an order, this subordinate would never hesitate to rush through fire or boiling water!"

However, he was actually wondering which Day Walker General this was, as he had never seen this person before.

"Is the Day Walker Captain of Bijiang City under your command?" Fang Chen asked.

Li Badao nodded quickly. "You mean Kong Hong? Yes, Kong Hong is indeed my subordinate. This man is diligent and hard-working. He has managed Bijiang City excellently, keeping it vibrant and well-organized. He's a truly capable person."

He hadn't yet taken a good look around, or else he would have noticed Kong Hong's face, which had turned a sickly green.

Wang Hu, who was kneeling nearby, almost couldn't hold back his laughter upon hearing this. He turned to look at Kong Hong and saw him walking step by step toward Fang Chen, before suddenly falling to his knees with a thud.

"I pay my respects to you, my lord," Kong Hong said.

Li Badao was slightly surprised to see Kong Hong. "Kong Hong? What are you doing here? Is this Bijiang City?"

He quickly noticed that something seemed wrong and looked around at the scene, noting the large gathering of Yin Soldiers, wandering souls, and a crowd of Yin Walkers.

If someone told him nothing weird was going on here, he wouldn't believe them.

"Lord, this is Youhuan City," Kong Hong whispered.

"Youhuan City?" repeated Li Badao.

He thought for a moment, then glanced at Wang Hu. Realization dawned on him, and he finally understood where he was.

Li Badao cautiously turned to Fang Chen and asked, "My lord, what happened here?"

Fang Chen glanced at Wang Hu. "You explain."

Wang Hu straightened up, cleared his throat, and turned to Li Badao. "Lord, this matter is a long story."

Fang Chen interjected, "Then make it short."

Wang Hu quickly nodded. "Yes, yes."

He dared not waste time or try to deceive Li Badao. He simply recounted the events as they happened, word for word. Halfway through, when he mentioned that someone in Youhuan City wanted to target the lord and that this person was Kong Hong's sworn brother's disciple, Li Badao's face turned an unhealthy shade of green. The Yin energy around him began to surge uncontrollably.

He clenched his fists so tightly that his knuckles cracked, and he looked as though he could kill with his gaze. He recalled how he had just praised Kong Hong earlier. Realizing what had transpired, Li Badao was filled with murderous intent.

Fang Chen turned to Li Badao. "Do you understand now?"

Li Badao nodded, his face darkening. "Lord, how should we deal with this person? Should we throw him into the Forgotten River, or let his soul scatter?"

Kong Hong shuddered. "Lord, this is not my fault. It was my sworn brother's disciple who kept coaxing me to let his disciple take the position of the Day Walker in Youhuan City. I was misled and confused..."

The Yin Walkers who had come with Kong Hong suddenly changed their expressions. One of them forced a laugh and said, "Everyone, this matter is between your officials and has nothing to do with us Yin Walkers. We'll take our leave now."

As he spoke, he tried to pull Ma Minlong away, but when he looked around, he realized the Yin Soldiers had already surrounded them without them noticing.

Li Badao's face grew darker. "The lord hasn't spoken yet. Where do you think you're going?"
