Chapter 588: Chapter 246: Advancing to a Sixth-Rank Alchemist
Ji Xiyue left and returned to the Western Demon Region.
After Ji Xiyue’s departure, Lin Jing’s life once again resumed its former routine.
Aside from staying in the small courtyard, he spent his time alchemy.
Of course, Lin Jing would occasionally go out for a stroll.
Places like Yuebaolou and several markets near Nanshan Immortal City were among Lin Jing’s casual destinations.
As for the advancement of his cultivation, he was not in a rush.
Sometimes, with nothing pressing at night, Lin Jing would enter the System Space and take out the Great Dream Ancient Mirror he had obtained from the Moon Demon Sect Leader to meticulously study and try to refine it.
However, the Great Dream Ancient Mirror was a magical treasure of the Dao level, and with Lin Jing’s current cultivation, it was not easy to refine. It was estimated that it would take at least several decades.
After all, he was not the Moon Demon Sect Leader and lacked those special methods that would enable him to control the Great Dream Ancient Mirror prematurely.
But now in Nanshan Immortal City, where he was not going out or engaging in fights, there was no urgency to refine the Great Dream Ancient Mirror.
And so, another year went by.
In that year, although Lin Jing spent most of his time attempting to perceive the power of heaven and earth,
his insights sadly remained largely unchanged.
However,
Lin Jing’s cultivation was steadily increasing.
Even without much dedicated practice, Lin Jing still made another breakthrough and advanced to the eighth level of Nascent Soul.
…
This day,
Lin Jing was sitting in the shop in front of the courtyard, staring blankly outside, his thoughts drifting somewhere far away.
The shop in front of the courtyard had been there since the street was rebuilt.
Li Qingqing had renovated the residence inside, but the shop front was preserved.
Previously, Lin Jing had left the shop unused, not wishing to make a public appearance or operate it in any fashion.
It was not until Ji Xiyue left that Lin Jing’s cultivation seemed to hit a bottleneck, showing no signs of progress.
With time on his hands, Lin Jing then spruced up the shop and opened an Elixir Pavilion that specialized in high-grade elixir medicines.
Typically,
Lin Jing would sit inside the shop, playing the role of a leisurely shopkeeper.
Although Lin Jing had opened the Elixir Pavilion, due to the low foot traffic on this street and his lack of interest in the business, it did not do particularly well.
But these matters were of little concern to Lin Jing.
Because he hadn’t opened the Elixir Pavilion to make it flourish; it was simply another way for him to pursue enlightenment and seek a breakthrough.
As Lin Jing was lost in thought, a person walked in from outside.
Upon entering, the man approached Lin Jing and gave a cupped fist salute:
“Master…”
This voice instantly pulled Lin Jing back to reality.
After a moment of bemusement, Lin Jing looked at the visitor.
The newcomer was none other than Ye Yun.
“Master, I’ve returned,” Ye Yun spoke again.
Then, Ye Yun took out a Storage Bag from his person and handed it over to Lin Jing.
“These are the Fourth and Fifth-Rank spirit plants you asked me to acquire; they are all here.”
Ye Yun and Lin Jue had spent nearly a year in the Nanming Domain before returning to Li Yan Island a year ago.
Before they left, Lin Jing had given Ye Yun an assignment to gather some Fourth and Fifth-Rank High-Grade Spiritual Plants.
Ye Yun continued,
“This acquisition took me beyond the Demonic Monster Sea; I even made a trip to the Western Demon Region.”
“I’ve used up all the fifteen million Midium Grade Spirit Stones you gave me on this venture.”
Lin Jing reached out, took the Storage Bag, and surveyed it with his Divine Sense. After inspecting, he stored it away and spoke:
“Hmm, you’ve done well.”
Then, Lin Jing looked at Ye Yun and asked,
“How are things now in the Thousand Islands Domain?”
Ye Yun replied,
“The Thousand Islands Domain remains as it was, with the three Island Masters still seeking Li Mingwu, who has yet to appear.”
“What about our Flame Island, how has it been doing recently?” Lin Jing inquired further.
“Flame Island is much the same; Yue Qi has been managing things, with Lin Jue occasionally lending a hand.”
As Ye Yun spoke, his tone suddenly shifted,
“Oh, Master…”
“Zhang Jian should be nearing his tribulation soon.”
“You promised him a Nirvana Elixir for his advancement, didn’t you…”
“I had it prepared for him long ago,” Lin Jing replied.
“I thought he needed more time before his tribulation to ascend to Nascent Soul, but it turns out he’s ready much sooner than I expected.”
Then, Lin Jing took out a Pure Jade Box and several small jade bottles from his Space Ring and handed them to Ye Yun.
“Hand these elixir medicines over to him once you get back,”
“And ask him when exactly he will face his tribulation. I’ll go back then to act as his protector.”
Ye Yun accepted the elixir medicines and stowed them away, then gave a cupped fist salute to Lin Jing,
“Yes, Master…”
Lin Jing nodded, then spoke,
“For the next few days, don’t return just yet; go to the Li Family and help your sister Qingqing with some tasks.”
“Once you’re done with the Li Family’s business, you can come back here. I need to concoct some elixir medicines; you’ll bring them back to Flame Island.”
Ye Yun nodded,
“Understood, Master…”
…
Afterward, Lin Jing and Ye Yun exchanged a few more pleasantries. Then Ye Yun took his leave to go to the Li Family.
Following Ye Yun’s departure, Lin Jing closed the shop and returned to the small courtyard.
Given the seclusion of his shop and the lack of visitors, and with tasks awaiting him, it made sense for Lin Jing to shut the shop outright.
What do you think?
